Somehow I don't think Chip knew about his back.

If you really watch episodes closely, you can see that although Ryan can pick up heavy objects (or light girls), no one does what Chip did because when that happens your back is doing all the work. There's one living scenery game with Colin and Drew where everyone's on jetpacks. Colin is running around with his (might have been Chyna) while Ryan just stands by the stair with Drew's arms over him.

That also explains Wayne's face because he knew.

Ryan has degenerative disks which is really common in tall, thin people. It's like their spine is stretched out of proportion, and there just isn't the support for the height. I have ittoo but I'm only 5 ft tall. With me, it's just arthritis, but you don't have to do a thing for it to hurt. I believe what he felt was a quick, sharp jerk of his spine and a lingering ache kind of like a muscle pull. It's a shock, and it worries you a lot, mostly because it could get worse, but you don't know.
