This is great! Part of what draws me to Ryan is that he doesn't just march out a re-creation of his songs. He re-imagines them for the live performances. This was a fantastic song already, and he only improved it with this version.

it's his presence, his vocal delivery, the sparseness of his guitar parts that draw the audience in. that's why they are all in awe and that's why the audience is all silent. they are captivated by his performance. as it says in the definition, when someone (or something) is captivating it attracts and holds the attention and interest of others with its beauty. that is clearly occurring here seeing as the crowd is all silent and speechless.
