I have a SPAS. It is kind of clunky and cycles slow and I had to replace the safety assembly from the lever to the button since there have been known cases of the lever not working. I bought it just for its super cool looks and the fact that Arnold used it in the first Terminator movie...
I don't know if you can still buy them new but you can find a lot of used ones out there. The marines wanted a gas operated auto shotgun so Benelli came out with the M4 as a replacement. I would guess it cycles just as fast through and it looks a lot cooler. This has an M1 Super 90 tube extender on it.
The Benelli is, or was as of 5 years ago, the world's fastest cycling auto shotgun. The M3 is also one of the few shotguns that switch from auto to pump at the flick of a lever, good for firing non-lethal rounds like bean bags that don't usually cycle an auto shotgun. I have the M1 tube extender that shoots it up to 9 or 10 rounds. I have a Mossberg 500 but it has a plastic part that broke on the receiver which I taped up with electrical tape. I'll take Benelli over Mossberg.
My next plan is to take the same light to the Grand Canyon and throw it in. That will suck because it means I have to hike down to get it. I will probably replace the lens first since it is super fractured from the shotgun...
LOL. You crack me up Greg. Running them over, hammering nails, now shooting them. I gotta think of something really good and suggest it. Not sure how much more abuse you could give to a light than shooting it.
