  • One year later I've been through so much in my life after hearing this song, and it has a far different meaning to me now. I wonder if our race will ever return to its roots of the true religion of the northern gods and achieve its manifest destiny, or if it will breed itself out of existence due to christianity and miscegenation running rampant.

    Hail Odin.

  • Winds of Valhalla!! F*** yeah!!!

  • omg!!! what a bada** track!!

  • increible, maravilloso!

  • ive watched this vid like 20 times,,,it is badass!!!!! thanks for making it

  • @contentual I am glad you liked the video.

  • ah, they say if your english you are either welsh or germanic- or both...

blood and such.....they are trying to make it all go away, and will dilute us...wait and see, my friends

  • just one word: masterpiece!!!!

  • The only thing that could have made this lineup more perfect is having Geezer on bass. No knock against Neil Murray, but Geezer is a huge part of the Sabbath sound. Cross Purposes drove that home for me after the great Martin/ Iommi/ Powell albums that came before it.

It doesn't take away from how much I enjoy this era of Sabbath. Great song from a great album. Annu Mundi, Sabbath Stones, and this are just great tracks.

  • great song (i dont understand why they are 3 different songs)

  • I will wear a winged helmet.

  • @WyattKaldenberg... Wotun (Odin) is always depicted with two Ravens. Some of the images are early 7th century but most are ftom the 11th to 18th centuries. Several images are actually of Beowulf including one of the Hall of Heorot where he first fights Grendel. Some of the images are Germanic, English and Italian and several are Biblical....but hey they work.

  • Tony Martin, my all time favourite Sabbath singer with Dio coming in as a strong second.

  • Who's the man at 3:16?, I always wanted to know

  • @Netooo87 That's painting of the God Odin from??? The late 1800s?.

  • @Netooo87 Georg von Rosen - Oden som vandringsman ,1886 (Odin, the Wanderer)

  • @Netooo87 It is the Allfather Odin.

  • @Netooo87 thats the allfather Odin.

    Hail Odin

    SS Amon Goth 181

  • LO AME LO AME!!! ... <3<3<3 sean benditos por los dioses...

  • This is so fuckin epic, I just can't say

Tyr is one of the best heavy metal albums ever, no matter what they say about Tony Martin. For me, the guy kicks some fuckin ass!!

  • I came at 3:54

  • unbelieveable how losers like justin bieber earn money and respect and real ultra-hyper talented musicans like tony m. and iommi are so fucking underrated.

  • @loouuni why mention that twat's name at all? I hate how some pop "stars"' names like his are everywhere thanks to idiots.

  • not too many people know of sabbath as they are hear, my favorite sabbath by far

  • Thanks WyattKaldenberg - I do use amazon and play dot com but prefer to get cheapies from CD Universe normally. I will however go for the best bargain. Anyway- what a ******* brilliant song!

  • When I first heard it I was into the idea of battle and now as an old man I absolutely resign myself to the fact -life is a battle- this song gets me through- I think tony is under rated too- I'm going to buy the album when I see it cheap enough.

  • @holfordstars I saw used copies on Amazon real cheap, but this was a while back.

  • @WyattKaldenberg GET THIS CD IF YOU CAN! I know all my Sab line ups and this cd is great all the way through. Some of Martin's best vocal work ever! Plus Cozy Powell and Neil Murray with a huge contribution from long time keys man Geoff Nicholls. It didnt get much better than this!

  • @holfordstars May you find peace when you find the album. I've never heard this song, so I'm guessing that I'm older than you. The better you learn to chose battles, the less time you will waste fighting meaningless ones.

  • This is how you play Heavy Metal! 10/10

  • Epic epicness makes this song epic

  • WINGS OF VALHALLAAAAAAA CHICKA CHICKA DUMM CHICKA CHICKA DUMM CHICKA DUM!! CHICKA CHICKA DUM CHICKA CHICKA DUM DUM DUM!!!!!!
  • I remembe when I first bought this album... Okinawa, Japan back in 91 -- can't remember if it before or after the Desert Storm deployment.

  • Proof that the was life in sabbath after Ozzy and Dio

  • The beginning part wouild be great for the upcoming thor movie..

  • epic...

  • @cloudtool Yes, it's a great song.

  • 'Headless Cross' and 'TYR' are up there with the classic Sabbath albums in my opinion.

  • @SilverTounge85 Yes, I really love TYR.

  • Great work! Feel free to comment and rate our videos... take care BRONSON

  • Gracias por la respuesta WyattKaldenberg, saludos, ¡Anno Mundi!

  • @ishtarum You are welcome. I have many Spanish-speaking Odinists on my Facebook friends list. I can get you in connect with them if you wish.

  • @ishtarum Thanks, I felt it all fell in place. Yes, you are correct, Odin is the energy force behind the music. And, yes, I,too, could not see anyone else bringing the spirit to this music better than Tony Martin

  • Makes me want to grow my beard out longer than what it is and buy me a 40 pound sledgehammer then walk around with it strapped on my back and saying OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODIN every-time I walk through a door.

Pretty badass music. I've read about the old "gods" and such, always thought it would be cool if they were real. Thor just busts down your front door and asks you to come to combat evil with him.

    Epic win.

    Thumb'd UP.

  • @Vibrenium Thanks.

  • Brilliant!

  • great songs dude

    sabbath rules

  • better beware!!!

  • "thrilogy" Duh, of course I meant trilogy

  • Beautiful video. This thrilogy is a classic to me, maybe it is not that accepted as such in Sabbath history, but the quality of this masterpiece says enough for me.

6 Favourite albums I have of this great band.

Ozzy: Master Of Reality, Volume IV

Dio: Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules

    Martin: Headless Cross and Tyr.

Quality wise these ablums do not differ that much, the point of time in history made the difference which ones were to become classic in the eyes of the fans... to me: these six are!

  • Great vid!! I used to love to listen to albums such as this in the dark with headphones and some inspiration from a certain herb, creating my own vivid movies in my head. :D

This album could have been the soundtrack for a great Viking movie. I can't think of any classic big budget Viking movies, someone needs to do it!!

  • Yes, there are some great very low budget Icelandic movies about the Vikings, and a number of Hollywood big budget movies that suck. This would be a great sound track to a well made movie about the Vikings.

  • yeah...without tony martin ,sabbath is not so great, that was golden era -"real sabbath",i respect dio and ozzy, but martin was GREATEST of all!

  • Tony Martin is a far better vocalist than Dio, you can understand Tony, Dio is a bloody screacher, Tony's songs are brilliant... love this track, TYR was a brilliant album... on vinyl..

  • When Dio and the lads reformed Heaven and Hell under "Sabbath" for Dehumanizer, they had Dio singing old Ozzy-era stuff.

RJD would have sounded great covering this, because Martin was hired for being sorta "Dio-like".

Put it this way, Dio would have sounded better covering Martin than Ozzy.

And yes, Hail the Gods of the North

  • Black Sabbath had some great talent pass through it. I saw Sabbath live with Ozzy and then Dio as lead singers, but I didn't get to see it with Martin. I would have loved that. Hail the Gods!

  • Hail the gods of the north

  • Great Song !!!!!!!!!! TONY MARTIN!!! Tanks!!

  • Wow - didn't even realize this existed. Accidently stumbled across it while searching for more of my favorite band Tyr! But this is fantastic!

  • Yeah, Black Sabbath and the Gods are a great combo.

  • HAIL ODIN! HAIL SABBATH!

  • Hail Odin!

  • This just so... EPIC!

  • Yes, it's very cool

  • The sabbath stones...

  • Probably the best sabbath album ever..

    This track oozes such impulsiveness..

  • Dio, Tony and Geezer are in a class of greatness that I and others would see as the best. I do like Ozzy, a lot, but would never put him above Dio. Ozzy is a figure that is put on stage to be amired. Does he know what he is doing? Due to the abuse of drugs most likely no. What Tony Martin has done was also great, but he is in the shadow of other greatness, but he will be remembered as will Cozy who is the best and most powerful drummer of our time. To each his own. :)

    \../

  • This is overlooked as such great work. It is easily misunderstood.

  • One more thing, Tony Iommi I still say to this very day was the creater of all the future metal guitar riffs and licks back then. And now into the many years of metal to come..

  • one of the best sabbath albums they done along with sabbatage..Met Tony martin on his metal project at Dartford Kent..Nice bloke, stunning gig...

  • Fukn love it!

    5*

  • Thanks.

  • tony martin is underated and not even a mention of cozy is even worse

  • @cozybest this is the first time i listened to this.. i'm definitely gonna replay this again.... this should have a million + views..

  • @BWEEBLAST Yes, it is an amazing song.

  • The Tyr album was greart! Tony Martin is underrated.

  • It's sad that the album is totally overlooked.

  • touching

  • Yeah, metal is touching and spiritual.

Heavy metal and religion go together like mead and religion. At least in my religion they do.

  • the only reason Ozzy got into black sabbath is because he had an amp and a mic. he's really not that good of a vocalist. as soon as he split from black sabbath, the true geniuses of early heavy metal, he started going down hill... at least i think so. Long live the Underground, Death to the mainstream

  • Somethings in life are just luck. The ONLY reason Ringo Starr got into the Beatles is because Ringo is ugly and the better drummer Pete Best was good looking and got more girls than John or Paul. At least that is how one story goes.

  • Tyr is a fantastic album. The sound could have been a little better, and it doesn't have the quality feel of the Dio Sabbath albums. But it's a top notch album, and I hope the first three Tony Martin albums will get a special edition remaster kind of thing, 'cause they really deserve it. It will come a time when it will get respect, I'm sure of it!

  • I love the whole Tyr CD. Not just because it has an Odinist theme. It's great big hair rock and roll. It was very under produced. It came out 1989 or 1990 and was ONLY on CD at a time when tapes were still in high demand. I am amazed how few have ever heard the TYR CD. Sad. It's one of the better Black Sabbath albums.

  • Tony Martin doesn't sound like Ozzy, he sounds like Dio. And since Dio is the better vocalist, Tony is better than Ozzy. At least thats the way I stacks 'em. Cool Odinist video!

  • Tony is under-rated. I have bought the Tyr CD a number of times. I loan it out and never get it back. LOL!

  • I could say the same....rofl

  • This Is Great!

  • Yeah, I think I am the only person on earth to have bought the Tyr album. It's great. Ozzy will always be Ozzy, but Tony is totally underrated.
