Talking to a woman one time who had just come from a visit to a Medium I asked her if she was convinced it was all true; 'If you heard what I heard, you would know it is true', she said with deep conviction. They do interviews with the actual police personnel that were involved in some of these solved cases, many of who admit that they were very skeptical at first but changed their minds after the psychic came in. I will say this. I was at an Allison Dubois event on Saturday, I was invited there to sell her books as I work at a major bookstore chain. I was in the room for two hours as an objective observer. I saw this woman, who I knew really nothing about except that there was a TV show based on her, give accurate information over and over and over again. I was seriously shocked, and amazed.
@ramonaji08 How exactly do you know that information was accurate? How accurate? See, the way these people work is very easy, they disguise their approach with questions, they make suggestions, and then the "client" just fills in the blank. The idea that the psychic was the one that gave them the info is carved in their minds, but that´s false.
@ebrobaru The clients barely said anything. She would describe what the deceased person was showing her and they would react. Specific things. Describing the deceased, the death, their lives, their personalities... and the people would confirm what she said... they were clearly amazed.
@ebrobaru I'm sure fraud exists, and I'm sure there are techniques to fool people. I respect skepticism but I know too many skeptics who are missing out on the most interesting parts of life while holding on to their precious scientific "methods" as if they were a raft, not a stone. I was raised by a scientist who is also a mystic, so I am lucky enough to be able to experience both worlds.

Then the client keeps the idea that she said that his cousin Mike, died a month ago. Everybody knows someone whose name begins with an M. I wonder why the never see an X or a Z.
@ebrobaru No, there was nothing like that. That's not what she did. As an example she said to one woman that she felt when her son passed there was a feeling of cold in his veins. She described the feeling and asked if the woman understood. The woman said yes, he had overdosed and that was it exactly. She had not told Allison how her son had died. She said to another woman that a little girl who had passed was referencing the singing at the funeral, was there singing? Yes, her grandfather
was a mariachi and had sung at the funeral. To another woman she said "I see Marilyn Monroe, he's showing me..." the woman said "He had a Marilyn Monroe poster in his room, and a photo of her..." To a couple she said "She's showing me tattoos of her children's names and they said "she was going to do that but she never did..."
@ramonaji08 All of the events you tell me are easily explainable. These are the typical topics that are exploited. But whenever explored carefully you see all the flaws. For starters, it is human nature to remember the so called hits, and forget the misses. That is why personal anecdotes cannot be used as proof of anything. And remember, she has books to sell.

@ebrobaru My aunt and her husband owned a chicken farm. One extremely cold night, she awoke to find her dead sister standing at the foot of the bed. Her sister motioned for her to look out the window. She saw that the power had gone out . All of the chickens would have frozen to death had she not looked out of the window.
Incidentally, I did not see her but I have felt my late cat jump onto my legs on more than one occation, just the way she did when she was alive.

But in genuine investigations of Mediums like Allison there have been an enormous amounts of frankly challenging material that cannot be dismissed. May I suggest you read Joe Fisher's 'Hungry Ghosts'. You can still find the Book on Amazon. Joe became convinced that Channelling is absolutely genuine, but that Mediums like Allison were themselves being tricked by Spirits.

There is no way that woman could have known the details she gave in that seance, she also gave other details in other seances of facts that would have been impossible for her to know. Fair enough, there were also incorrect details, but we are still left with the problem of how she knew those facts.

Hi ebrobaru. I have studied the Occult probably twice as long as you have been alive, I do not think Alison uses 'Cold Reading'. Actually that method of deductive inflections is so well known now few fake Mediums would use and expect to be taken with any credibility. A communication link to an assistant using the Web would be more 'today' (see 'Leap of Faith' with Steve Marin). A book I recommend you read is 'Hungry Ghosts' by Joe Fisher.

Talking to a woman one time who had just come from a visit to a Medium I asked her if she was convinced it was all true; 'If you heard what I heard, you would know it is true', she said with deep conviction. Personally I do not think Mediums are Frauds, the information they often give from the Spirit world is impossible for them to have known without intense research. However I remain sceptical that they can know 'who' they are channelling as they usually have Blackouts during sittings.

They do interviews with the actual police personnel that were involved in some of these solved cases, many of who admit that they were very skeptical at first but changed their minds after the psychic came in. Hopefully after her appearance on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills which revealed her to be a complete sociopath (to say the least) her career is over. I find it hard to muster compassion for a woman who has no compassion for innocent children. I certainly can't have any compassion for a woman who has no compassion for innocent children but claims her life's purpose is to protect innocent children all whilst laughing her way to the bank.

@becausewewantto123 - I've never seen Medium, but I'd seen the episode with Allison and while she was inappropriate in her behavior, I have to believe that she was just so loopy from the alcohol and that did not really mean what she said about the women's children. That may have been the alcohol talking albeit not a valid excuse.

I am not gonna constantly beat a dead horse about the existence or non-existence of genuine mediums. If I find a posteriori, synthetic and a logically contingent statement that is true, hence this will tell me what really exists in the external world.

Good epistemic agents know how to protect and defend their beliefs from criticism. I am a good epistemic agent, so I could defend and protect my beliefs from Blndrfist because I justify my beliefs. I believe in psychokinesis not because I just want to believe, but because I can justify it.

I will say this. I was at an Allison Dubois event on Saturday, I was invited there to sell her books as I work at a major bookstore chain. I was in the room for two hours as an objective observer. I saw this woman, who I knew really nothing about except that there was a TV show based on her, give accurate information over and over and over again. I was seriously shocked, and amazed.

See, the way these people work is very easy, they disguise their approach with questions, they make suggestions, and then the "client" just fills in the blank. The idea that the psychic was the one that gave them the info is carved in their minds, but that´s false.

@ebrobaru The clients barely said anything. She would describe what the deceased person was showing her and they would react. Specific things. Describing the deceased, the death, their lives, their personalities... and the people would confirm what she said... they were clearly amazed.

I respect skepticism but I know too many skeptics who are missing out on the most interesting parts of life while holding on to their precious scientific "methods" as if they were a raft, not a stone. I was raised by a scientist who is also a mystic, so I am lucky enough to be able to experience both worlds.

Then the client keeps the idea that she said that his cousin Mike, died a month ago. Everybody knows someone whose name begins with an M. I wonder why the never see an X or a Z.

@ebrobaru No, there was nothing like that. That's not what she did. As an example she said to one woman that she felt when her son passed there was a feeling of cold in his veins. She described the feeling and asked if the woman understood. The woman said yes, he had overdosed and that was it exactly. She had not told Allison how her son had died. She said to another woman that a little girl who had passed was referencing the singing at the funeral, was there singing? Yes, her grandfather

To a couple she said "She's showing me tattoos of her children's names and they said "she was going to do that but she never did..."

But how can you be sure it was not just that, a dream? But hey who knows, right? What we can be sure is that so called mediums and psychics are just frauds. @ebrobaru I don't recall mentioning anything about dreams, in fact I was fully awake at the time and the message was clear and in her voice without any asking for it or summoning or wishing for it it just happened and left me very upset,nor that she was my favorite aunt or anything.I'm just illustrating that these things can happen to anyone (I never had it happen before or since) but obviously whatever I say I don't think you will be convinced unless it happens 2u so cu on the other side &peace

@ebrobaru My aunt and her husband owned a chicken farm. One extremely cold night, she awoke to find her dead sister standing at the foot of the bed. Her sister motioned for her to look out the window. She saw that the power had gone out . All of the chickens would have frozen to death had she not looked out of the window.
Incidentally, I did not see her but I have felt my late cat jump onto my legs on more than one occation, just the way she did when she was alive.
