You could try to do some money selling hands and leg prothesis made in good and cheap aluminium and rubber. Enzo Ferrari said he manufactured cars for rich people just to get the money for maintaining his formula 1 team. What sensors do you use in your arms? where you buy it? is amazing how with less funds you did the same what NASA made with their robonaut and million $.
This is absolutley amazing, the way you can build these things..Your a genious, and Aiko is amazing, the way she can read and solve math, and feel. Its just-wow...
Aiko has to be my top favorite robot yet, and you do so good at creating things :)
Awesome work there, I like the way you cross your work in robotics with prosthetics. I was wondering if you built that hand yourself or if it was an off the shelf model.

If this works and relatively cheap, a "LOT" of war victims (combatants and non) and a whole lot of people are going to be able to get a portion of their lives back.
man . with the battery on her back+ extra component to support walking , I afraid Aiko will become a FATBOT ... :( . Unlest we invent a new battery technology like whut we did with memory mini sd card :)
I'd like to see the iner workings with out the glove. Would be a great magic trick! hehe Good job, Soon one day we will have a robot that looks and acts just like a human.
She's quite impressive, although she still needs legs, wheels or some manner of locomotion. She needs more naturalistic skin - tone, too. I wouldn't wait for them to be mass - produced, though.
i don't think so, i went into a craze about Exoskeletons, military suits, and the leading brand uses hydraulics to move about, they reduce physical loads to, i think; 0.5%, wow.
@aibot21 remember the possibility of these things being built man like 7 feet and 300 pounds loaded with weapons and being used in wars and against the citizens of our country by our own government. Check out my website mayabell (.com
@Tibly I agree! I really hope someday Traung can get sponsered by a huge company so he can someday help man kind as much as he has the potential to do.
Can not do any better without funding. The hand in the video is made of thick cardboard. If I did have the money it would have been made out of Titanium
@aibot21 Man, did you ever get any funding for this magnificent project? this was 2008, and since then it has generated a lot of views, surely some body has managed to get you funding?
This could really help a lot of lives. Its just a shame the governments will happily fund a war for money, but they wont help a brilliant mind carry out a dream that could help so many people.
@aibot21 if I make more money I fund you not just with money, but with a multidisciplinary team from Osaka, Waseda and Tokio University and even the Kitec of South Korea, with electric furnaces for melting a resistant magnesium or titanium bones, a carbon fiber, UHMWPE, and aramid polymers department, high tech brushless motors, walking technology patents, voice, text, sound, face and objects recognition programs, powerful microprocessors to support all that, facial expresion array and so on

was my dream to not aiko though heh but if it helps cordless power screwdrivers can get for like £5 drills £7 secondhand we talking peanuts this is for the motors that have enough torque, liquid plastic varys can get for very cheap but you get what you pay for so may be very toxic too, liquid rubber say about £60 for a nervious system i used low freq mics and tilt switchs which cost me 99p the most expensive parts was the servos as i use them as a switching system to drive the 18v motors
no matter whats in you way, do not stop completing this project, this by far, is the greatest thing I have ever seen, please keep posting up these videos of this android, or others, I am extremely interested in projects such as this, you are in fact a genius. this is our near future.
I would like to know... Can the sensors for this hand be used for neural stimulation a la brain mind interfaces. I have always had this idea for video games where our mind can be jacked in to the game. Like in the Matrix movies. This should be possible with your sensors as you can now make the brain control the hands in a video game so you don't actually need to act out the game physically but only direct your thought to move your virtual hand.
Are you planning to send the sensory feedback to the nerves? In that case, how? some kind of induction or some (not known to me) way directly to the nerves ?
I know it's possible, there was some commotion about a couple that had connected they're nerves together electronically so they could feel what the other one felt.
I'm very interested in how your planning to "code" the impulses that will be transmitted as "touch" etc.
As far as I've understood, it has something to do with the speed of the impulses, more or less like how it is with the muscles ?
I guess I am use to it, so I don't feel anything. But my father say he feels a bit of "shock" running down his arm. It would be nice if I have more volunteers.
Your video always impress. Great work!

@mirokumasta Are you sure? I swear I saw a video of a dude using a video-camera to cure himself of some eye-related thing.
