  • Darth Kazi? whatever the f#*+ you call yourself one thing for sure you can't play like NEITHER so shut your bitch ass up.Page is the greatest most versatile guitar player ever.Eddie good yes But its the same thing over and over The legions of ZEPPELIN fans range in all ages and way out number the Halens

  • hey yoda van grundy? EVH doesn't own PAGE. great guitar player yes But PAGE is in a league all his own.

  • sammy hagar is a freeaaakin good singer

  • nice cover

  • q buen cover

  • I saw this live back in the day - great version of this song.

  • 1-800-FARM AID!

Finally! My sheep were getting way out of control

  • SHIT

  • when was this?

  • I think i now want to call 1-800-farm aid

  • There is a difference between playing and shredding. and what EVH did there was the latter. It wasn't even key. You want a shredder, get me Stevie Vai.

  • this is how the solo shouldve been

  • @KEViNston7 stfu

  • Van Halen was the Zep of their generation, if only the original lineup hadn't deteriorated a mere 7 years into their existence, I mean i enjoy the hagar years but early halen with dlr was just pure magic. Thank god they are recording with roth again

  • nice try

  • WTF is this Farm Aid 1-800 number on this video? Am I going to be the douche who asks?

  • imagine if jimi page and eddie fused together... jimi van halen... that style would be like.... a fucksplosion.

  • @jakob24426 too bad Page spells it Jimmy..

  • well fuck, if its for eddie vanhalen im calling 1-800 farmaid

  • eddie van halen is an alien...............

  • that solo is nasty

  • I fucking loved this video!!!!!!!!

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! (Dio) this is fucking orgasmic...i have to go now...FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP...

    LoL

  • Everyone who has ever formed a band has covered Zepp, nobody ever does a VH cover, nuf said!

  • @Aethelred1971 Van Halen did a Zepp cover. Nuff said.

  • @Zfogg1 I think he meant no one does a Van Halen cover

  • @Aethelred1971 are nuts many does vh cover......billy idol, velvel r, motley crue etc etc u fuck

  • @Aethelred1971 um i think ur wrong, john mayer, ive seen more tribute bands for vh

  • @Aethelred1971 : all respect to Page and Zeppelin, fuckn geniuses from front to back. But any kid that grew up in the 80's played guitar because of Eddie. Guitar shredders and tricksters will come and go, but EVH was a musician first and foremost and so much more than the flashy guitar genius that any non-player tries to dismiss him as. He was a true inspiration for a generation of players. Big respect to Eddie and the band.

  • i am pretty sure he got the tapping from Queen doing Bohemian Rhapsody on SNL.

a friend of mine copied that too & that was way before VH came out.

VH is great but there was so much good music out at that time, he got lucky to be influenced by...

  • eddie sux. he plays the same tapping solo shit in every song. every band out there covers zep songs, just look at the videos to the right on this page for example. how many Vh covers do you see?

  • You mean VAN HAGAR?

  • DLR RULES!

  • Fuck Sammy Hagar he's shit compared to David Lee Roth

  • Is it too late to donate? What was that number again?

  • @GuitarsGalore557 zepplin was not any influence to the great eddie van halen or his band period! i like playing some beatles songs but they were not a influence on me at all. eddie van halen is much more a superior guitarist than jimmy page. eddie van halen has been playing guitar 46 years. guitar player international and guitar World have eddie van halen and jimi hendrix the two most important and influental guitarist of alltime! eddie van halen has taken the guitar to places that will NEVER!

  • @stratdem part-2

be surpassed by any one at leased not in are lifetime.

  • @stratdem lmaoo dude your funny i have an interview with eddie van halen saying this " i was at a led zeppelin concert in california and jimmy page starting to finger his guitar during heartbreaker solo and i said to my self hmm i could do that and add an extra finger or two and tap the guitar ." and if u are a big eddie van halen fan u dumbass you would know that eric clapton was eddie's idol. go ahead say that eddie started the cigarette in the neck of the guitar first to huh eric did

  • @dannyaudio and you asswpe are a bullshitter,

he like the riff to hart breaker period page was never a influence.

eddie van halen is a much more superior guitarist than jimmy page

theres nothing page can do or has done that has or can impress the

greatest rock n rock guitarist in the world mr. edward van halen.

end of story i'm done here.

  • @stratdem Dude, I love Eddie, but Ed was a huge fan of Page. Ed has often said PUBLICLY his lifelong wish was to get inside Jimmy Page's head.

  • @bandit7498 eddie van halen never said anything like that moron. why would he? he's much

more superior as a guitarist than jimmy page could ever be. i have been following eddie van halen

for 33 years and i can ashure you he said no such thing!

  • @stratdem Wow. What a fucking child. I don't give a fuck how long you've been following someone. Doesn't give you the right to insult people bitch. I read an article in guitar world when Eddie was asked about his influences. He stated he'd love to get inside Kimmy Pages head and see how he came up with all the different tones on all the Zeppelin records. I know Ed's a better guitarist. Doesn't mean he didn't learn something from him. Asshole.

  • @bandit7498 Personally I believe Both Jimmy Page, EVH are amazing guitarist in their own classifications, I mean its true man EVH has got some genius to him, but to me I think JP put so much feeling into his music, And if you really check them out LZ guys were educated musicians, I mean they were really orchestrated you know...they werent garage band....but again this is me personally...its just good to see people appreciate fine rock music...keep jammin man! =)

  • @huea88 Page was great. That was my point with the other guy. Just because Eddie was in another class doesn't mean he couldn't have learned a thing or two from jimmy Page.

  • @bandit7498

    Page is the riffmaster.

He comes up with them and we all copy them.

I don't think you'll ever find a video of Jimmy playing "Running With the Devil"

  • @bandit7498 like i said eddie van halen was NEVER a fan of jimmy page.

eddie van halen like some of pages riffs that it and nothing more.

eddie van halen is soooo much more a superior guitarist over page end of story.

  • @stratdem pff. whatever you say. Eddie is the better player. But there's even a Guitar World issue a few months ago and if you read that you might be surprised. I ain't arguing with you. Eddie being a better player doesn't mean he can"t appreciate players before him. Just a dumb argument.

  • Comment removed

  • @stratdem I actually remember Eddie said he really thought Page was a great producer, player in the studio but not a great live player. (I love his playing live, thats my very humble opinion). He said he got the idea for two hand tapping from Jimmy Page's "Heartbreaker" solo. He said if you can hammer on and pull off to an open note, then why not tap another note. That was probably some Guitar World interview. I used to eat that shit up as a kid. Also, the "Atomic Punk" solo sounds page-ish

  • He should really be ceaeful jumping around with such a pointy guitar. I was afraid he was going to kill someone with it.

  • eddie van halen my hero

  • this proves that jimmy page can own them with a guitar

  • @XxmcdxX jimmy page owns the great eddie van halen is that

what your are saying? because if you are you are as smart as a 5

pound bag of fresh pig shit! jimmy page is not even close to the greatness of

eddie van halen eddie van halen and jimi hendrix are the two most important

and influental guitarist of alltime! guitar player international and guitar world.

  • Bam! from QofR&R!

  • sammy and eddie playing rock and roll* :P

  • The best possible band to cover such a fucking masterful song.

  • Say what you want for covers but this is close to the way it sounded from when I saw Led Zep live.

  • the king yeah the king

  • Sammy as an all around great rocker. I really wish Roth fans would lay off him.

  • @Luke5119 Exactly, in the end it Van Halen and thats final.

  • These Guys Are Awesome...But Zeppelin Owns Them..

  • @poyotubeee Led Zeppelin ceased to exist September 25th, 1980. The only thing "Zeppelin" owns is the 1970's.

  • @DarthKazi yes, but that one decade is enough to kick van halens ass!

  • Comment removed

  • @DarthKazi You Got The Date wrong there. Bonzo died on September 25th. The Band did not officially cease to exist until December 4th, 1980. that just kinda pissed me off. sorry.

  • @poyotubeee This isn't a competition.

  • @poyotubeee EVH owns Page.

  • @YodaVanGrindey95 Only on your little world...

  • He played it his way, it's a cover. He took a classic song and made it sound even more cool than it already is. Which is pretty damn cool!

  • EXCELENTE!!!! Tremendos músicos de una gran época!!!

  • I don't understand all the hostility..It's not a Page vs Van Halen CONTEST..just a cover in TRIBUTE of Led Zep...and a nice unique version IMO! Sure it is different...don't you want it to be? It should be faithful to the original... not a CARBON COPY!

  • The fuckin king. Period

  • Listen, I respect EVH, but he mangles this song. There is so much going on inside the riff. Page is the man, and only Page knows how to play Zeppelin right.

  • right on man !!!

  • im sorry but eddie ruined the solo for me hes to.... how do you say metal for jimmys style im not saying eddie is bad im just saying hes not good at playign bluesy like Jimmy

  • @guitaristxcastro I think Eddie did an Eddie solo, which is fine. I like when a band covers a song, but with their own flavor. I think 'note for note' duplications are boring.

Sammy did a great vocal, btw. Big kudos to any band that honors Zep with a cover, imo.

  • godverdomme

  • hard to find a vocalist that can actually sing this song lol. sammy does a prettty good job here.

  • "THe KINGS OF KINGS"....could of said it better myself

  • van halen are gods dude!

  • i like his voice...

van halen is just hot :D:D

  • i have to change the channel before i stick a gin in my mouth

  • i like it

  • krogshede, get over your pathetic self. Only a moron would complain about Van Halen covering Zeppelin. One of the greatest rock bands of all time covering perhaps the greatest rock band ever, each with its own guitar legend, and you whine about it. You are a fucking LOSER!!!

  • It's a fucking "COVER" people! What? You think they were "trying" to sound like Zeppelin?

  • Pretty cool classic eddie solo

  • the way they made this cover remembers me of the way McFly played on the first "back to the future" :D

  • It wasnt too bad, the comedy in the beginning made up for it. xD

  • nice cover........they rock!!!

  • I never liked Sammy Haggar, seems like a nice guy just can't stand hi whiny singing.

  • am i the only one who thinks this is actually decent for just bull shitin around

  • @nathanhyatt1980 its awsome considering that they had no songs of there own at the time and they sure as hell wernt going to play a roth era set ( no disrespect to that era) but of just playing for the hell of it its amaizing

  • Many groups have done Led Zeppelin covers with succes,- this is NOT one of them !!

  • kickass

  • So this is what ispired Sammy & VH to join up ? - Looked like it.....

  • am i the only person who thought the solo was freakin' awesome?!

it was a speed guitar version of the old solo, same solo, different sound

    *awesome*

  • @bcire3k You're not the only one, man! It's the same tune, but Ed's personal take. Just like any cover by anyone should be.

  • @jimmyboy131 ha well that's good to know

  • @bcire3k and me

  • hhaha, "my dicks too small? goddamn, how'd they know about that?"

    funny as hell

  • you can't compare eddie to page and vice versa...completely different guitarists

  • You also can't compare Ed to (a) god, either. Page didn't resort to noodling with a violin bow in every song like Ed does with his tapping and sheer endless repetitiveness.

  • @Adnoydal Lol, but you can't compare jimmy fooling around with a bow, to eddie tapping.. Eddie's work defines a sound he was trying to get.. page was just fooling around with the bow.

  • @VanxHalen eddie learned how to tap from jimmy page from the solo heartbreaker its in the record books known fact!!!

  • @dannyaudio he didn't learn how to tap from that. it sparked an idea.. and eddie expanded on it. Everyone know he listened to heartbreaker and wanted to expand on the sound from the solo.

  • suckin...

  • I don´t like this cover

  • yes my son the Noyd has serious mental problems, he was ass raped years ago, by Geico's, so now he is homicidal, sociopathic, and hates everything, as we hate him. Avoid the Noyd

  • Some folk just can't do a single solitary solo free of diddling, noodling, tapping, and whammy...

  • @Adnoydal yeah but its a solo... they can do whatever the fuck they want

  • @VanxHalen thats right. Folks can stay at home watch the video and conclude theyre glad they didnt go.

  • This has to be the most covered in-concert cover. It doesn't have to note perfect to the original, just as long the players convey the feeling. My favourite cover was at the tale-end of the 1978 Rock Circus: Peter Frampton, Ted Nugent, Nancy Wilson and Howard Leese all taking turns on the solo, and Ann Wilson rocking the vocals. Great way to end a fantastic show!

  • i luv van halen but to be honest i dont like sammy that much

  • Sammy nailed it at least.

  • Van Halen has had some great songs, and they were a good band. Eddie is a great guitarist. Eddie is probably a better guitarist technically than Page (i.e. fingering). However, this performance demonstrates how inferior of a musician Eddie is compared to Page.

  • Eds squeaky sreechy distorted bent-noodled ENDLESSLY REPETITIVE stuff bites

  • I know...yet, he'll still be more remembered than you!

Go figure. Life = not fair.

  • Yeah, Paris Hiltons fans say pretty much the same tihng

  • Haha.

    Yeah.

  • where is michael anthony??

  • At first I thought Sammy was playing a Dimebag gutiar! ha That would have been cool.

  • the cigarette in eddies guitar headstock... he saw jimmy page do that. You see, eddie wants to be like jimmy page when he grows up... not likely, but hey everyone can dream.

  • i think this is only just when hagar joined VH.

  • GREAT

  • Worst version I' ve ever heard, no drum intro or solo.

  • Yeah I miss the percussion intro too... but there will never be another John Bonham to nail it like only he could.. so I just get lost in the guitars & smiles & sheer fun a younger Eddie & Sammy were having! Bless them both! That crazy solo Eddie does helps make this a FAVORITE version for me!!!

    Peace

  • how is this vh? this is bullshit

  • Did Van Halen record this cover in studio?

If so, do you know where I can download it?

    Help. Please.

  • different hearing it NOT from Led Zeppelin. Its kinda nice to hear bands' way of playing other band's songs

  • im not a big fan of the van hagar days but this is a top notch performance!

  • I thought it was pretty cool. Good stuff!

  • i hope these old guys took their geritol today

  • These "old guys" can still play circles around most anyone...what guitarist hasn't been influenced in some way by Eddie's techniques especially his tapping? Show some respect.

  • @lauratwo16 it wasn't eddie who actually made the tapping, eddie was only the guy who made it popular.. I'm not sure but I've heard something like that :) eddie is still the king

  • @RevilationGuitar91 Good point...Eddie credits JIMMY PAGE as his inspiration to tap & such but EDDIE brought it to the NEXT LEVEL & beyond. Some simple forms of tapping were done way before Page even. That said, I just LUV all these guitarists & percussionists for what they all have accomplished as musicians!

  • @lauratwo16 absolutely :)

  • @lauratwo16 his tapping came from jimmy page eddie says it to

  • @dannyaudio no it was not he like the way it sounded on hart breaker period.

eddie van halen has been playing guitar 46 years long befor he even knew who jimmy page was.

  • @lauratwo16 i agree with you, but i find it amazing how much led zeppelin has influenced many people, including these great guy from VH

  • No,no,no,no,no,no!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • van halen formed in the 70's...

  • you right

  • wow sounds simalar cool:)

  • terror able

  • Finaly I found a singer who can sing how most like Plant.........

  • I think this cover is actually pretty good.

  • who on this planet is a better guitarist than jimmy page? thats right ... no one.. :P

  • i'd say Jimi Hendrix, but then again, he's not on this anymore....R.I.P. Jimi, but Pagey is the best alive

  • Eric Clapton and B.B. King

  • Buddy Guy for me

  • Van Halen changed the face of rock guitar. Jimmy Page and Van Halen are like apples and oranges. Sammy Hagar's best song was Bad Motor Scooter with Montrose.

  • Was there ever a time when the members of Van Halen (both Roth and Hagar versions) ever really liked each other? They give the impression of having a glorious, wonderful time on stage, yet when they broke up, they all trashed each other. Makes me think all that smiling was totally fake.

  • Van Halen is a talentless hack who uses taps and to play fast and he sounds like shit!!!

    jimmy page is FAR superior

  • WOAH! That is one of the STUPIDEST things I've ever heard. Now Eddie Van Halen may not be the best guitarist to live and it is probably true that Jimmy Page is a better guitarist. But you can NOT go around and say the EVH is a bad guitarist or he sounds like shit, because he is KNOWN for tapping but at least he makes it work because he is SUPPOSED to sound futuristic and "spacey" and epic. he can rock hell outta its cave but he does what he does best and we love him for it.

  • Van Halen certainly does come close to Jimmy Page :). He's excellent. The drums seem to be missing in this though lol. They just must be very quiet

  • fucking Van Halen Jock-Rock cunts...... nice outfit, Hagar......... looks like he's straight outta an Olivia Newton John video

  • Haha Hagar sucks big

  • eddie van halen rulez

for me the best guitarrist ever

and the best guitar ever (Frankenstrat)

    is a genius!

  • eddy van halen duz not come close to jimmy page as a guitarist

  • Right before he fired his band and joined van hagar! nice outfit, Sammy!

  • this is cool!

  • Sammy is full of energy isn't he. Not bad though.

  • what the fuck??

  • nice ml sammy

  • WOW sammy was sooo energetic

  • Sammy and his Depeche Mode haircut..

    yuck

  • @Adnoydal Your just mad cuz your bald and you look like a naked mole rat

  • hahaha. awesome eruption at the ending

  • he didn't play Eruption at the end =[

  • awesome cover!!! seriously!!! it's just, ti think the guitar's overdrive got too many crunch/gain so it's sounds more 80's heavy metallic. still fuckin awesome cover though!!!

  • Its not VH, its Sammys band jamming with Eddie...

  • I love the shots of those people standing in the wings. Gimme Six.

  • What a beautiful voice:D:D

  • This isn't Van Halen, it's Eddie and Carrot Top!

  • sammy does a good vocal cover of the song, and eddie does a great solo for the song!
