They should have gone with the Morphosis design. However, seeing the rest of US gov't buildings I can see why they chose this. Americans seem to like the stark, simple geometric shapes.
@obrieny2k Ron Paul has already asked Hillary Clinton about the proposal during her testimony before Congress in 2009. As she explained, the sale of the US government's leasehold estate in the existing Grosvenor Square site and other smaller facilities in London will pay for most or all of the expense of building the proposed embassy at the Nine Elms site.
What a rip off! Why didn't they credit the original designer? This is a miniaturized version of the New Jerusalem described in Revelation! What chutzpah to steal God's own design and not give Him any credit whatsoever. Good Grief! What are they trying to say?
As this is the design concept, and construction will not start until 2013, we dont yet have firm figures on how much we will save on energy costs. The aim however is to have a carbon-neutral building that can feed energy into the local power grid.
The goal is to achieve carbon neutrality through renewable sources. Energy will be produced above and beyond the required building needs with the intent to distribute the additional energy produced to a district grid. This is subject to further design and discussion with adjacent property owners and municipal authorities as the project develops.
American architecture is pretty much simple shapes. Americans don't like radical and bold building aesthetics?

A Billion dollar project? I will contact my Senator, and Congressman to vote NO. Does Ron Paul have any idea of this project?

So now that its generating its own energy, how much will be saved by this? Is the video talking about selling extra energy to neighboring business?
