The ham op is spelling out his call sign in phonetics.

That ham is VY2ZW - James from Canada.

Also you can hear his signal report to the other station

During a contest day, most of the contacts sound like this - short and quite boring -- unless your a contester :-)

K1DG is Norm from New Hampshire.

The code QRZ means , 'who is calling me?'

PS , you need to re-tune you radio often because it isn't stable enough for SSB signals.

ok thanks OH2FFY yeah right after i uploaded this video i found out what it was. because it sounded like a telephone operator would sound like. Ex- T as in TOMMY A as in apple and so on. also i watched your videos that helped to thanks again

call sign in phonetics. All us ham op's use that to make our callsign more understandable since certain letters tends to sound the same over the radio. A-alpha, B-beta, C-charlie and so on.
