really, i didnt die that much in this game. i found it kind of easy. on impossible, i probably only died about 5-6 times, and that was because of careless errors. the game isnt really frustrating, and if you die, you will put you near to where you left off. but anyways, this game is phenomenal and is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. can't wait for dead space 2 on tuesday!

btw just in case anyone is interested, with the necromorphes that can regenerate (if you've played through this game before you'll know what i mean) the best strategy for slowing them down is to just shoot off their legs, if you shoot off their legs and arms they regenerate faster, so shooting off their legs slows down their movement and their regeneration

I loved this game. Just beat it. It's not that scary at all. To be honest, I was a bit let down after the first big boss. But the end of it it seems like the enemies got repetitive and the last boss was a let down for me (the big boss that poisons the air was scarier and harder to me) But other than that, this game is addicting fun. It's so fun to level up the weapons and kill those monsters. Reminds me of RE4. DS2 should be awesome.

Surprisingly, this game didn't really scare me that much, it just made my heart race (probably from playing F.E.A.R. and Doom 3), but if you're new to horror, THIS GAME WILL SCARE YOU!!!

make the splitter split then use an AOE gun

bounce force gun grenades around corners to check for enemies

the first gun is you best friend

if you master the ripper youre unstoppable

chose a even set of weapons

put ammo in the safe; the more in your inventory the less the give you.

@mikeaprice09 You must understand that it's not that type of game. It's about being along for the ride in an immersive, compelling way through storytelling--like it or not--and visceral game play. Personally, I'm much more satisfied if a game focuses on its strengths, which in this case is single player; as opposed to slapping on half-ass multi-player because it's the thing to do these days. And as somebody else said, the replay value is within persistent upgrades. Next time I suggest ya rent.

One more thing! Wow... lol Like RE4 I never saw all the death animations when different monsters kill you! I played Dead Space twice on PC, but like the reviewer says sometimes it's worth it to let different monsters kill you a few times to see the different animation sequences.

This game isn't scary as such.. Just jumpy as hell ;) They are just like oh look a vent shoot the vent so you don't get scared if some alien jumps out, then walk past it and they fall from the fuckin roof ;) makes you jump then you dismember it which makes it fun :D

I'm not Whity but I can say that the most breathtaking story I've seen in a game was Condemned: Criminal Orgins. An amazingly intresting story where you need to track down a serial killer who murders other serial killers using their own methods. Add in creepy atmosphere and paranormal events and you get one of the best stories ever told in a game.

I honestly don't see why everyone is saying this game is so scary. I've seen all of the scare tricks before but done better, so when a monster I assumed was dead jumped up and attacked I saw it coming. I also felt the game lacks characterization, I couldn't feel connected to anyone. So when ever a character died I just said "Yay, one less person to tell me what to do". Anyway, solid review man keep up the good work.

Just because the storyline is unoriginal does not make this game mediocre. I liked how they added the parts about how a religious group was somewhat involved in whatever crazy belief they had. If you didn't think this game was scary at parts, then you need a bigger t.v. and turn the volume up higher. 8.9 is a fair score.
