Where do you get these pictures from? My Dad was a Commando from 1943 to 57 and then immigrated to Canada. He was sbs but no pictures at all. The few medals he had apparently "came out with the rations" or so he said. I guess they donn't give medals for what he did.

  • @selina1914 The men who did truly great things are distinguishable by one thing; their reluctance to talk about what they did. My Dad is the same, and he still serves now. The pictures of Commandos are available on the internet; the modern pictures are my own.

  • Brilliant just Brilliant.

  • The man in the blazer standing on the station near the end is my Dad Leslie Whipps of 9 Commando. He's 86 and may do the walk again next year.

  • That man is a true legend, and I am honoured to say that I met him, even for the briefest of moments. He powered ahead even the fittest of us and was waiting at the memorial when we arrived a full ten minutes later.

My regards to your Dad - if only there were more men such as him in this world.

  • Army commandoes were disbanded after the war the role of commandoes is now carried out by the Corps of Royal Marines the best of the best and second to none!

  • The Commando Memorial and Achnacarry are where my father rests with his former comrades. I complete the speed march every November on the commando gathering weekend.

Your film is a beautiful tribute to their memory and an acknowledgement to those who ensure that they, their courage and their exploits will live on through the generations.
