I always suspected she thought Carla was her daughter and i bet when she gave the lock of hair to Ansgar she was givin him HE hair and not francesca's in onder to prove her suspects.

Is it impossible to have a good relationship with your bogus mother? Carla could have a cordial relationship but need not necessarily be close to each other. But when Carla got "caught with hand in the cookie jar" bogus mother will not report it to Ansgar. This is because parental love is the strongest love there is and it is practically impossible to break it.
