  • sounds like Anthrax, if they just had Jim Martin

  • this kind of sounds like faith no more meets anthrax

  • The biggest problem on Milk&Blood was the drummer, I mean... you can find a better one in every other garage on your home street.... But Jim himself rules of course!

  • This just doesn't feel the same as Patton on vocals. Just really falls flat.

  • you gotta add CONFLICT to this playlist

  • Pure hardcore

  • Jim did great backin vocals. I recently download a 93 bootleg -which was captured from the soundboard- and Jim does amazing job on vocals (Jizzlobber, Caffeine, Chinese Arithmetic, and others).

  • faith no more never sounded the same without jim. he gave them their signature sound. im a huge fan.

  • Patton/Martin could have attained Plant/Page status if not for EGO

  • Jim definitely had a lot to do with The Real Thing and it's a classic metal album. This song, not as good as the original but damn good. I say it's a thrash metal classic. He always had the metal influence on the band and Angel Dust really was Patton's experimental side that took over. If he can come back for at least one show with FNM, that would be insane.

  • in my opinion one of the most underrated guitarists ever!

  • awesome guitarist

  • I agree

  • Not too bad really, except for the boring drum sound. This cover though shows that even though Jim is a great guitarist, he played a very regular style and didn't evolve his playing. I mean this was brought out 6 years after the FNM version and it's identical sound for sound and note for note.

  • dude martin grows pumpkins now hes pretty much done with music i respect him for it and hes a legend because of it

  • dammit it's a shame they broke up..

jim martin is a very talented guitarist.. but he needs a good singer

  • It was done a very long time ago by Martin and his best friend Cliff Burton when they were kids playing together. Jim wrote a lot of the music for the Real Thing which was influenced by his past experiences with other bands. Sick Jim had his own unique style and metal sound which FNM truly has gone astray. Another example, Woodpecker From Mars. He also played with his other buddy James Hetfield in a band called Spastik Children.

  • Jim was a night owl. Hed stay up until about 5am, and then sleep through the afternoon. The two of us worked on our own in the studio. Jim had come up with a lot of music for the album, including Surprise! Youre Dead! (which actually goes back to a 1970s band called Agents Of Misfortune, featuring Jim and future Metallica bassist Cliff Burton), Zombie Eaters and Falling To Pieces. Wed be finished by about 10pm, and then go out to party.

Mike Bordin on The Real Thing recording

  • HA HA

  • hearing these vocals makes you realise just how good Mike Patton really is. Jim sounds like he's trying to imitate James Hetfield at times...........lame.

  • I'll give Mike Patton credit..he is a gifted vocalist..but damn, he isn't the be-all, end-all of FNM. Give Jim some credit as well.

  • Always a reference to metallica. FUCK EM. This is faith no more buddy. Martin is a genius with a guitar and has been playing longer then Hetfield. Hetfield imitates Martin.

  • your mother sucks dick so well!!

  • One of those albums that I never bothered to check out when it was new......gonna correct that ASAP.

  • Jim wrote the song and was proud of it so he wanted it included on the album, I would be impressed if Jim had sold a '99 Dodge Neon to pay for the recording, as he made it in 97

  • FNM homework time for you!;-)

  • its a fnm song he covered on his album.. what the fuck don't you get about that? it wasn't an attempt to slap anyone in the face, and the song kicks ass.. you patton fan boy bitch.

  • @divinegrinder Nah, you're stupid.

Jim Martin WAS Faith No More. Every year, Mike Patton's influence on the band's direction grew... that's why after Angel Dust, every FNM album sucked. Mike Patton is one of the biggest dickheads in music, and that's why he's got fans like you.

This wasn't to "slap Mike Patton in the face." It was probably because the song is totally badass, and deserved to have a life outside of Faith No More.

  • @instereovideos Funny cause Jim Martin had almost nothing to do with the writing of Angel Dust and it is a classic album... and King for a Day is probably their best record in my opinion. I know Mike Patton came out of the woodwork with his weird ideas and ruined your funk metal fantasy but give me a break. This version of SYD sucks compared to the original no matter how you look at it and there was no point in recording it.

  • @divinegrinder

Yeah, that's why Angel Dust wasn't as good as Real Thing... because Martin didn't have as much influence. It was just the last FNM album that didn't totally suck, because Patton wasn't free to do any stupid thing he wanted to do (like he did immediately after Martin was out).

So, your friends who listen to "X-treme radio" told you that old FNM was "funk metal," and now you don't listen to it. Yeah sorry, but you're not an FNM fan. Go listen to your Korn and Incubus records.

  • @instereovideos Whoa buddy. We are clearly not on the same page. If you honestly think that Angel Dust is not as good as the Real Thing we are going to agree on nothing. I think Jim Martin is a good guitar player...that's the extent of it. You clearly don't like Mike Patton as a singer and you are a huge homo for it. Every one of their albums got better with the exception of Album of the Year which was still great. Jim Martin had no part in this evolution.

  • @instereovideos Mike Patton played just as big a role on the Real Thing as Jim Martin. Jim Martin was unwilling to be in the same band with a strong creative influence like Patton. Mike Patton clicked with everyone in the band besides Jim Martin and also wrote a lot on Angel Dust on the albums after it. If you watched the documentary on the making of A.D. you can see how stubborn and unwilling to progress Martin is. Give the later albums a chance. The Real Thing was great but they got better.

  • @divinegrinder Yeah, that's pretty much the consensus among fans that prefer FNM's later albums.

  • @divinegrinder i get you're point...i'm 42 and was about 21 when THE REAL THING came out, so that is their best album to me..at least my favorite, but ANGELDUST was very brilliant too, and KING FOR A DAY...was insane as well, but that performance in London at the Brixton Academy (YOU FAT BASTARDS) is an unparalleled performance in my humble opinion.

  • @SDMFAnthony01 I agree with you whole heartedly... That is one of the best live performances i've ever seen period, let alone for Faith no More. Im glad someone realizes I'm not attacking Jim Martin. My original post is a little harsh looking back but i was trying to make a point. FNM is one of my favorite bands and Jim Martin was a part of that. I just don't see the point of making a watered down version of the same song of the band you were in.

  • @SDMFAnthony01 I also agree that your age when albums come out plays a big part in how good they are to you. Im only 27 so the first album i heard from them was King for a day.... and it just blew my mind. Then i went back and listened to The Real Thing and Angeldust. It's like they are a different band on every record which is awesome if they are consistently great. I wish sometimes i was your age because to me that was the last golden age for good music. Most everything sucks now.

  • @divinegrinder thanks my friend for the kind words...very good job for recognizing the change ups on every album...horns up.

  • @divinegrinder Whilst I value Patton's contributions to the band's music on from AD, Jim wrote Jizzlobber and Kindergarten, wrote the solos/harmonies. Not to mention the awesomeness of his live sound/work. (That no other guitarist with FNM came to close to live) Thats not exactly "No contribution" on AD. And Martin did in contribute to the evolution. Did you hear the Faith no man stuff yet? There was a lot of evolution bought about from Jim's involvement since those days..

  • @Guitarsthatkill Jizzlobber and Kindergarten are two of my favorite songs on the album. But Jim was hard to work with back during the recording of that album and most of the stuff on it was written without him. Imagine how good it would have been if he contributed to every song. I'm not bashing Jim Martin... great guitar player. But personally I think they got better with every album. He could have been part of that and if he was who knows what they could have written.

  • @Guitarsthatkill And I think Jim was the rock solid foundation of FNM and without him there would be no such band but as far as the "evolution" goes I don't really think he had much of a part in it. They started out a funk metal band and ended up something bigger than that . He didn't really want to change... and that is something he has said himself if you look at interviews from around the time he left. Awesome musician though.. and no one can take that away from him.

  • @divinegrinder They started out new waveish/new romantic/dance style....then became more metalish when Jim joined in '84. No way would a Jizzlobber or Surprise you're dead have surfaced without Jim. Sure Bill Gould played funky bass, and Jim Played metal guitar, but they had too much pop in them to truely be "Funk Metal" a tag thats always been a problem when describing Zombie Eaters/The Real Thing/Edge of the World. I think it was a lazy press umbrella tag that sold FNM short.

  • Milk and Blood is ok but Jim Martin has really weak vocals that kind of drag it down

  • I just bought this album. Got it for 20 Swedish kronor (about 2-3 US dollar).

  • var köpte du? :D

  • tradera, där den dyker upp rätt ofta ... dock inte för 20 spänn så ofta :P

  • :( typiskt

  • Fnm's version of this is better...., but Jim Martin, did a great job, I didn't know he could sing, wondr why he didn't do more stuff..., oh, yeah busy pumkin farming

  • What makes you think he can sing? He can talk in rhythm apparently. ;)

  • did anyone notice that the tempo is slower than the FNM one?

  • Oh, shit. Never heard this version. Such a killer tune!

  • It is Jim...I have that album

  • Sounds like Jim's voice

  • Awesome! Who sung on this album?

  • Awesome! Thanks for this \m/
