  • This year I went on the Shinkansen 700 from Tokyo to Kyoto return.It is not as fast as the TGV. I know the Shinkansen 500 goes at the same speed as the TGV Duplex which I went on this summer.Both cruise at about 300 kph.For safety reasons {such as braking distance} they don't go faster even though they are capable of a lot more. I truly loved travelling on both.

  • 500 Series runs at 300 km/h during its serivice on Sanyo Line (Osaka - Hakata).
