I counted recently, I have watched 4500 movies. I like films a lot. Without a doubt this is the scene that blew my mind the most. An absolute fucking masterpiece of a film.
What a fantastic song and movie. My GF and I had a lovely time in Brugge after watching this film. She dumped me a month later and this song epitomises what a I felt for her, so I can never forget it now.
This film is like a rollercoaster. One minute im laughing my heart out, next minute im crying my eyes out. Such a fantastic film! This scene though is by far one of my favorite in any movie I've ever seen.
I just commented a second ago, but this scene just really gets to me. The silence of desperation as he reaches for his gun, the look in his face as he sees the fog and the dignity he goes to die for a friend. Fantastic.
damn i wanted 2 c the bit when he splatted on the ground:(
great song, GREAT movie
1 of my favorite quotes:
Ken: We shall strike a balance between culture and fun.
Ray: Somehow I believe, Ken, that the balance shall tip in the favor of culture, like a big fat fucking retarded fucking black girl on a see-saw opposite... a dwarf.
I totally agree there pal...Im studying him for the leaving certificate and it is a joy everytime I open the book and indulge myself in the genius world that is Kavanagh.
''We are in too great a hurry...it is on the days in which we are idle, that provide us when no-one is looking with all that is memorable''
What words!
Tá cuid mhór stuff ar Gaoth Dobhair agat a 'sportymike' nach bhfuil?
(I just remember you have a video of Gweedore people speaking Irish at the crannog)
I agree totally. It's easy to dismiss this film as a light-hearted vehicle for Colin Farrell, but scenes such as this have a great pathos that only features in phenomenal films. In Bruges is a minor masterpiece
too right credit to Martin mcdonnagh fantastic writer and amazing director he really made a film that is hilarious and also touching on the more dark dramatic aspecti really think irish film making is one of the best if not the best another example is damien o donnell with inside im dancing again humour and true emotion with love of live love of a girl and deep sorrow i jus think irish writrs and film industry deserve more recognition for their amazing work
yes, inside im dancing is another amazing irish film. such unrecognition, its rather sad, this film is amazing, i cannot stop listening to this song, i think a minor masterpiece is the best way to put it.
In bruges is my favorite film, i think Irish films are among the best in the world and i cant see why this film wasnt released in other countries. Masterpiece is the perfect word to describe In Bruges.
patrick kavanagh fell in love with a woman on raglan road called hilda moriarty, she was 19 and he was considerably older, she was beatiful also. When he says her hair would weave a snare he means he knows this relationship wont last and that she will leave him,she is too beatiful for him but he doesnt care and he takes a chance and "passed along the enchanted way"
Great film, even greater song.... Luke Kelly lives on.....

feckin beautiful song
On Raglan Road of an autumn day
I saw her first and knew
That her dark hair would weave a snare
That I might one day rue
I saw the danger and I passed
Along the enchanted way
And said let grief be a fallen leaf
At the dawning of the day
