  • Where did they come?

  • Sinead has more work to do on those twizzles. Not so great, but very early in the season. :-)

  • this the problem now with the folk OD theme. i was afraid some teams were gonna go this route. just because it says folk, some teams are gonna do the cowboy route. i wish the kerrs had taken up something closer to their nationality, maybe a scottish or irish folk dance.

  • But that would be totally the same as they did two years ago. And they had a scottish FD not so long ago too.

I think the problem is the folk dance theme is too similar to that national dance theme from two seasons ago. The couples don't have any new ideas, coz everything has been done already, not long ago and everybody still remembers it. I wish they had chosen sth extremely different for an OD now, like Paso Doble or Flamenco.

  • yep i remember that routine and it was great. and i agree, it was not too long ago that ice dance had the same OD theme. i wish the skating fed chose a different OD theme for the olympic year. maybe a blues OD theme? or something african rhythms based? or maybe even bollywood, like what d/w are doing. ;)

  • @zilam98 yeah cuz Americans are always the best, right? D/W is indian-pop. So watered down. Not truly authentic.

  • @pandacamIover and did i even mention anything about authenticity or americans being the best? i just cited d/w coz no one else did something like that--unique, but worked. for this olys, almost everyone else chose european folk dances or north american folk dances (i.e. cowboy routines). the russian d/s did choose the "aboriginal" theme, but somehow it just didnt work, at least choreography wise.

  • @zilam98 D/W is bollywood. Not Indian. Definitely the least authentic. Not unique. It's pop. Like it or not. Indian OD = too much posing, not enough transitions.

  • @pandacamIover you must be very dense, arent you? did i even mention anything about authenticity? i just said that in the realm of ice dance, the d/w OD was unique since not a lot of teams did it. i dont remember any other team doing an asian folk dance number, authentic or not.

  • @pandacamIover most other teams did north american or european folk dances. and even the ISU did not bother whether the ODs that the teams came up with were authentic or not. so, d/w's "fake" indian OD--per your definition--was accepted.

  • OMG they are both so hot!!! They're like the hottest British siblings ever ;)

And the dance is very cool!! Stands out, as always. They still need to practice it more, though.

  • Love it! Especially the lift at 1:44.

  • love the ending!

  • Love it!
