Wow! I remember the DJ voice was available only on the single. The album didn't have the DJ. It was a bonus for those who bought the 45. I bought the album but my friends had the single. Pop radio stations used an early fade-out of the album cut to avoid the DJ chatter. I remember it being the voice of the late Hank Spann ( I think he died just last year) who I think was a DJ at WWRL in NY or at one of James Brown's radio stations. I recall hearing that story on American Top 40 at the time.
@DLCOrganization: The only known appearance of this version on LP was an Adam VIII as-seen-on-TV compilation album called "Heavy Hits" (part one only).
Weird, the static sounds overlaid instead of integral.

I know there's a fast version of it, I can't find it. Anyone knows that version?

@Marcuslow111: That would be "Rapp Payback" from 1980 (released on TK Records just before that label went bust).

"This record is... SOUL!"
This is the first way I KNEW this song.
They did the same thing for its companion track,
"Papa Don't Take No Mess".
Album versions?
Needless to say, not as lucky with
that particular classic element.

@DLCOrganization His voice was also on The JB's Same Beat.

I have the 7" single of "Same Beat" (SWEET TRACK
that Total sampled in 1997, by the way) and, though
I haven't heard it in a good minute, I remember now
that the DJ WAS on that single.
Thanks for the reminder, Philly.

It sounds like you just out a microphone to the speakers then played the track without even inhancing the quality in anyway.
