Shirley Brown is a true "Southern-Soul Sista". always keepin g it real with her lyrics. Not enuf ratings for this one. & moving forward shirley..... Love this!!!!!!!
Thanks for the song Jukejoint, this is the first time I have ever heard this one by Mrs. Shirley Brown and it is a wonderful song for those women who are tired on waiting on their lover to get right or get themselves together. LOVE IT!!!
Nope.. this is Shirley Brown. This is the second song on her Malaco CD "Woman Enough"., released in 2004. The song title is "Think Again". Written by Charles Richard Cason, who wrote Johnnie Taylors' "Good Love".
Thanks so much. I really wished Malaco had released this as a single. I sent extra copies to the radio in Los Angeles. They never played it. I guess they thought I was some crazy fan. But this song deserved to be heard. It's just as good as any Mary J. track. Thanks for listening...
She has an Aretha sound, she can definitely get some work as Aretha's background singer or even do demos for Aretha, she's interesting, I wonder if she lives what she sings, these poor women who these men take it through.
LOL (I don't think Shirley wants to work as Aretha's background. She's had over 20 albums released on her own. She's had a number one hit with "Woman to Woman" and many other his singles. She mostly known in the southern soul market. But she did sound like Aretha did back in the day. Shirley voice has remained the same. Aretha has lost a lot of her highs due to smoking.
LOL about Aretha losing her voice due to smoking, well if that's true it's sad, I noticed that she has lost a great amount of her gift, but I thought it was due to obesity and not being able to breathe. But there is also a singer name Donna Allen who is also an AMAZING singer, check her out & tell me what u think, she had a top 20 billboard & top ten r&b hit, but she sings background for Gloria Estefan, ppl must put their pride to the side & get this money in this economy.
LOL (Oh.. Aretha will tell you that she lost her high register due to Kool Filter Kings. She sounds alot better now than she did during the early 80's. I love Donna Allen. "Serious" and her version of "Joy and Pain" are two of my favorite 80's songs. I didnt know she was singing background for Gloria. I knew that the lives in Florida. Thanks for sharing the info.
Thanks so much for being the first comment. I love Shirley. Sometimes the material she's given isn't the best. I have most of her albums all the way up to this last one her on Malaco. Most of the times they are not consistant. But she her voice still sames the same as she did on Woman to Woman. Most singers from 70's voice has changed. Thanks again.
