  • There are some turbo roundabouts in Washington state, which also has a lot of "fiets" traffic.

  • For safety, the right of way should always be given to drivers. Pedestrian and bicycle accidents go up by a factor of three if you tell them that they can simply cross. Note: "Most cars properly yield to cyclists." You have only 0.2-.3 accidents per intersection per year if cars have the right of way--0.8 if bicyclists have the right of way.

  • @maxxoccupancy They would only go up with driver education does not follow to allow ped/bike priority.

Sadly (specially in the UK) even long time known priority points like Zebra crossings (and even some light controlled crossing) doesn't mean you won't experience a few times almost getting mown down by someone.

Of course we have to be careful ourselves, but it's our right, and although I never put myself in danger, if a car is gong to buzz me, I get as close as possible hopefully shit them up

  • @maxxoccupancy Maybe in your country, but where bicycles are common this setup works properly. Where are your numbers from? It's a great idea to make cars give way to bicycles. Remember, there's the red paint for the cycle path where it crosses the road and give way marks
