  • Hi Pete I'm putting together a Triumph Bobber. The gas tank is from a 1972 Tiger. The paint on the tank is ratty and faded but I like the survivor look and want to keep it but also want to protect it. I was not too concerned while I was living in Albuquerque but now I'm in North Carolina with an insane amount of humidity I'm worried about rust. Can I paint the Flexed and Flat over the original paint on this bike? I don't know what kind of paint t is.

Also thanks for these instructional videos!

  • @geargeezer13 You should be able to clear coat over the finish you have, as long as you don't add reducer to the clear. When you apply the clear start out with very thin coats and work your way up to full wet coats, a few dry coats of clear will seal the old paint in, let it dry for aprox. 30 minutes between coats of clear. Pete

  • Great video spoilt by the CRAP musaaaaac to the extent that the vocal instructions are lost

  • @MegaYosarian The fucking Musac is so shite.. PLEASE cut it

  • Great video, now I can paint my bike the right way.. Just wondering, were do you get the paint and clear coat from? I wan the SAME exact stuff.

  • @PKproductions1115 The paint and clear is a PPG Product which you can purchase from your local paint and body shop supply store. Thanks Pete

  • 3:47 and yes, I do use PPG. Thank you very Fucking much.

hahaha. love it. great to see you doing things the rite way with the rite produtcs. cant stand seeing butchers out there using shity products.

hey, what sealer did you use? ppg? matrix?

  • Is it possible to just clear coat my olds and not paint it? with the old original paint and all the surface rust? thank's.

  • @MrBlueroads Hey blueroads, hows it going,, yes you can do that if you want, but there is no guarantee's how long it will last, I have done that before and it's lasted many years, and Ive done it and it's lasted few months.. Your better off patina-ing your car if you want the rust/old nasty look.. This means acutally getting rid of the rust, priming it and painting it like an old rusted car... Take it easy. Pete

  • @swrnc Hey Pete, thing's are fine here. I enjoy your talking trash show it is very funny.I still havent figured out how to see or hear it live? I wondered if I could just spray clear coat on it. I had my doubts. Thank's for the advise!

  • thanks bud for the repley, and for taking the time to teach and show us all step by step directions.....your the man and a funny Bad ass person.....the project is for my motorcycle fairing there all plastic i used epoxy hevavy duty to bond them together and kittyhair in the back for support. sanded them dry and wet sand them too..... i already sparyed on coat of primer ,(this was before i got your message"fuck") havent put epoxy sealer , what should i do

  • @foreverdanked Wet sand it down with 600 and paint it.. Pete

  • before i paint, with the deltron 2000- dbc 9700 , ypu said i have to apply a sealer or can i start painting after i wet sand it and dry it

  • @foreverdanked if you have any bare metal or raw bondo showing its a good idea to use an epoxy sealer on it, but if you sanded it and it didn't bust through the primer, your good to go.. Take it easy. Pete

  • I can only find the DBU9700 ppg doesn't even list DBC9700 anymore. Will it work the same?

  • @KoltMekka Yeah it should be the same stuff, make sure it's a simi gloss clear. Pete

  • Did you getit mario???

  • I want to hang out with you.

  • Hey Pete,

My kid and I are working on a bug, and we want to paint that color. How many cans do I need of black and that clear. Your videos are a great learning tool for us. Thanks.

  • @MrPaqwave You'll need a gallon of each , and the proper reducers and hardners as well. make sure you prep your car correctly before painting. Pete

  • Mario did a great camera job. Pete is finally back to work!! Yes!!

  • Great vid pete this is a great behind the scenes look and lets me know what to expect and look for when i finally get round to doing the beetle.

  • Is that going to be a "flat or satin" finish.?

  • @ziggassedup It's a Satin finish... Simi Gloss. If your looking for a nice simi gloss this is the stuff to use. You can us it on any color you want. Pete

  • gloss bass boat metal flake, end of story ,why paint anything else??

  • @wildeyednorthernboy BECAUSE I CAN!

  • @wildeyednorthernboy Are you kidding?

  • @PonyPower71 the real deal dude PEACE

  • @wildeyednorthernboy Yeah if you are into tacky Chicano crap. No thanks.

  • @PonyPower71 who asked u?

what do u have on your channel? nothing!

    so there u go.

    i don't have time for u!@#$%^&*()_+

  • @wildeyednorthernboy So fucking carry your ass then. Simple as that! Who asked me? Well who fucking asked you and your bass boat metal flake? Oh yeah nobody.

  • Great vid Pete! I mix my own flats also using flattening base. What's great about mixing your own is you can adjust the amount of flat or gloss.

  • i do a couple of these a month... DBC 2060 is 8 parts = 6 parts dbc2060 , 1part dc61 , 1 part dt870.....and sometimez any additional DC gloss clear to alter it : )~

double strained through "super fine" mesh strainers or 99 cent pantyhose...man , i know lots of famous painters and Pete is the coolest painter i know

  • Mario did a great job behind the camera. Great vid Pete!

  • Cool vid Pete..This is gonna help out alot of future Rat Rodders!

  • I agree, Mario should be the official SWRNC camera guy!

  • Whats flattener? Is that related to hardener?

  • @BadBrad23 flatner is an additive that takes the gloss out of paint.

  • hmm snot in a can, what every rice burner needs

  • Hi Pete

Do you have an opinion on "hot rod flatz" paint kit?

    thanks

  • @ron732489 I have never used the stuff.. I have seen it on the internet, ebay, craigslist, places like that. But I have never used it. When I paint a flat type of paint I just mix my own.. I would sai it's probably single stage style paint with flatner added to it, to make it simi gloss or flat.. You can actually do this yourself to your own paint by adding a flatner to it. Pete

  • I sure hope you show us what the finished bike looks like, never heard of mat clear finish before. Yes Pete !! PPG should be giving you a kick back for all the advertising their products...

  • Nice camera work!! This was a good video..

  • @zzzdogutube Thanks for the comment. Pete

  • wow cool. Good idea.I have used mat clear on Silver on work truck bumpers but not on black. Gives me a idea on my friends 63 Nova.Cant wait to see it done.

  • PPG should be paying you for all the advertising.

  • @1970chevelle396 for all the fucking videos I make---YOUR RIGHT!
