Actually, you are wrong about the island hopping part. I have read in history books that alot of the so called "whites" in PR and Cuba came over from the island of Hispaniola (present day Haiti and Dom.Rep). Basically Spaniards fled Hispaniola because the French were getting on their case. So all this arguing about who comes from where and who brought over African slaves and what not is plain dum. We are all intertwined with the same historical background.
goldy, Here's the deal...Hispaniola was once TOTALLY under Spanish colonial rule, however, the Spanish were losing their colonies 1-by-1 to independence movements and rather than lose the Island entirely, they gave half of it to France (now Haiti). AFTER the Slave Revolts in Haiti, the WHITE French left for PR, CUBA & other parts of the colonial world. They left WITHOUT their slaves who thought life would be better without the whites running the Island. The rest is history...

Thus, there are caucasian people in P.R. but remeber that caucasian is not equal to anglo saxons (gringos) it also includes mediterranean people like Espa~Noles and Italians. @jahlionpr Isla Verde is in Carolina which people consider to be part of SJ. So it isn't technically SJ, but it houses the majority of the hotels with the clubs/casinos for SJ. Guaynabo is a newer city which used to be part of Rio Piedras/SJ until it received it's new fancy title "Guaynabo City". Again, most consider that to be part of SJ as well. You make it sound like I said Caguas is Area Metro. I know the island very well, lots of mulatos, but again mostly pale black/brown haired humans.

Kago...2, "Puerto Rican" is as culturally distinct as is Cuban, Uruguayan, Argentinian. However, in the USA, there is an obsession with lumping all "latin" cultured people. So as a result of this ignorant perspective, there is a lot of institutionalized stupidity about people who are very different, but share linguistic, cultural & historical background but are VERY distinct and different. Ethnicity in the eye of the "American" is very confused even within the "American" context.

well puertoricans do have a rich spaniard background thats why most of us are descendants of "Canarios" and mainland Espana.Yes we do have a rich taino and african culuture. But no all puertoricans are of african descent. My family are all caucasian puertoricans meaning of "euro" descent. Remember Puertorro barely has a "taino bloodline" and as for africans...there were not many brung to the island many of them went to cuba.

Actually, you are wrong about the island hopping part. I have read in history books that alot of the so called "whites" in PR and Cuba came over from the island of Hispaniola (present day Haiti and Dom.Rep). Basically Spaniards fled Hispaniola because the French were getting on their case. So all this arguing about who comes from where and who brought over African slaves and what not is plain dum. We are all intertwined with the same historical background.

goldy, Here's the deal...Hispaniola was once TOTALLY under Spanish colonial rule, however, the Spanish were losing their colonies 1-by-1 to independence movements and rather than lose the Island entirely, they gave half of it to France (now Haiti). AFTER the Slave Revolts in Haiti, the WHITE French left for PR, CUBA & other parts of the colonial world. They left WITHOUT their slaves who thought life would be better without the whites running the Island. The rest is history...
