  • Here's why I consider Mary to be my savior: God chose her when he could have chosen any other woman on the planet who was just as (if not more) faithful.

She must have been special in some way; plus she gave birth to a magical baby, survived, and managed to keep said baby alive until he grew to adulthood. And all the while he was hunted by people who didn't want a prophecy to come true.

  • @threetailedfox1 Ours is to worship God through Jesus, her will was for God as should ours.

Jesus was her king as well as ours.

I am not trying to argue, and I have similar feelings.

Then I think f how God spoke of Abraham and referred to him as friend. How he actually ended Abrahams life earlier than he wqanted to spare Abraham of having to see how wicked his sons would become.

I hope I didn't come off as argumentative.

    God be with you

  • @hamace Sorry, but Mary is my queen. I serve no king, be they tangible or celestial. I can't really accept Jesus because I imagine him as the savior for men. (He was like the 'calming goat', helping men become less barbaric and more gentle and knowledgeable.)

Mary and other women who were able to overcome hardship and bring miracles to the world shows that women can be just as strong and influential as men. I don't want to argue either, but I am a believe in nature and inevitability.

  • i love the nativity story very much because christ the lord was born

  • i wonder if jesus knew these things as an infant

  • There was a 5 year old who lived in Peru in the 1930s who got pregnant and gave birth to a son. No one knew the father.

  • No matter what your take on Christianity, you have to admit Mary had LOTS of courage to say yes to being the mother of Jesus. She had no evidence that it was a miraculous conception, nobody had seen the angel but her, and she could easily have been stoned to death. She could easily have stayed with Elizabeth, but she chose to return home visibly pregnant and face the reactions of her family and Joseph. She was an incredibly brave woman with more faith that most people.

  • I've Seen young girls get pregant when they were only 17 years old, maybe even younger then that. i remember a friend of mine's cousion got pregant when she was only 15 years old.

  • to bad thte lord is NOT a fuckin cracker

  • <3

  • @karakittle Joseph never made an accusation. She would have been stoned to death

Matthew 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example (stoning), was minded to put her away privily. Was minded = thought about

1:20 But while he THOUGHT on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

  • Waarom zetten ze er geen Nederlandse ondertitels onder?

  • a small information for those who dont know: Our Lady's mother, Anna (=Saint Anna, celebrated in December 9) was sister with Elisabeth's mother..Elisabeth ofcourse, gave birth to Saint John the Baptist (celebrated in January 7)..

  • I just wish the music wasn't so dramatic through out the movie. There are what would be considered "normal moments" and it would be nice for the music to reflect reality, the ups and downs, the apprehensions, the joys of life.

  • "If I'm right--and I usually am."

  • Mary is the loveliest woman ever to live

  • I got goosebumps when the angel spoke to Mary.

  • If that happned now people would just think Mary is a wierd deluded pregnant teen with a disease. So i am greatful Jesus was born a very very very very very very very long tme ago .

  • @Dimondsister It was the perfect time, too. Jesus taught in coine (common) Greek, which was a trade language and thus understandable by all. We don't have that advantage today.

  • @Omnitrix12 i know but they probabbly had latin aswell, so we can learn fromt that

  • @Dimondsister That's not what I meant. You see, because there was a language that everyone knew, Jesus never needed a translator. Wherever He went, people could hear and understand every word He said (although understanding His meaning, sadly, passed many of them by).

  • Greatest man in history, named Jesus, had no servants, yet they called him Master. Had no degree, yet they called him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet he conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.. He was... buried in a tomb, yet He lives today

  • @maxiummax7 He was meant to die. Whole purpose of his being on earth. And it gave God pleasure to sacrifice him for our sins. It says that in the book of Isaiah.

  • @maxiummax7 AMEN to that! :)

  • Mary could believe because it happened to her...but Joseph, I admire him for believing in a dream and in his wife.

  • as a sixteen-year old I can even more identify with her. Even by today's standards, getting pregnant while unmarried and a teenager is a big offense in some circles in America.

  • how old was mary when she had a baby ? 16 ?

  • @anthonychad she was 13 or 14

  • @anthonychad Probably around 16. Someone else said 13 or 14; I'm not sure about that. Certainly not much sooner than that.

  • @Omnitrix12 I've read that she was around 14 when she concieved her Son; I'm not sure where I heard/read it, but I'm pretty sure that that's about right.

  • @DrEaMsOfAnOvEl Possibly. The question, of course, is not so much when it happened as everything that went with it.

  • Just as God created Adam without a mother or a father, He caused Jesus to be conceived without a father:
'

"Truly the example of Jesus in relation to God is as the example of Adam. He created him from dust and then said to him, 'Be!' and he was." (Qur'an 3:59)

  • i love wen she said yes to Gods will ;)

  • wow they use the reflection of the water for see the sky .. that is hight Technology in that time

  • CAN YOU YAHOO'S JUST ENJOY THE MOVIE FOR WHAT IT IS? A M O V I E..Relax please..you guy are goin back and forth and back...Why for what for who and for how much? Relax, It's a just a movie..If you're a christian, may this movie draw you closer to god. If not, did you like it?... No?...( Next ! ) We're sorry you didn't like it, but a lot of other people's life was changed ( ME for instance! ) So P L E A S E find somethin else that makes you happy? How hard was that? Thank You..have a good one.

  • @tonystark05 Couldn't have been said better!

  • @starsgirlxox ........IMAGINE IF EVERYBODY THINKS LIKE HOW WE DO???!!!, THERE WOULD NO MISUNDERSTANDING, DISAGREEMENT, FIGHT, WAR, MURDER....pure senseless undertaking to make other people yield to the aggressor's way of thinkin...what I'm just sayin is if you don't agree, please move on without causin hurt physically or emotionally. Like I said - Imagine, if only -.

  • @tonystark05 Yes! I completely agree. This guy was on another part of the video trolling everyones comments. Saying, "Jesus was stupid. its all fake. science is better." I was like "Yo buddy, I can't say I can agree with the religion either, HOWEVER im not freaking out at everyoen, and to say the least, i love this movie. Why are you watching this anyway?" Its a movie. seriously. a good movie too.

  • bible things aside, I absolutely LOVE how the musical composer integrated traditional carols with the score of the movie!

  • The angel Gabriel looks like that fellow from Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

  • @SrKAtaide BECAUSE HE IS THE FELLOW FROM DEEP SPACE NINE! And he's my most favorite actor ever-I Love ALEXANDER SIDDIG!

  • The scene between Elizabeth and Mary was one of the most touching moments i have seen in a long time.

  • I've always admired Mary for her strength but lately (since now i am older) i truly see and cannot fully imagine how her life was changed because she said yes to God. She loved God so much that she handed her life to him giving up her only son so that we may live without sin. Mary really is the most angelic, powerful, and loving woman to live. This movie portrays her greatly. God Bless :)

  • What is Mary Kneeing to a Angel ? Jesus said knee or Bow to no one but God and Jesus !

the movie is a God Sent but I just have to show out what the Lord has said !

  • @turtle4aire She knelt after he left. Also, Jesus never said kneel to only Him. To kneel is to show respect.

  • @turtle4aire as in worship..... she was not worshiping him but respecting him

  • @turtle4aire Well, there are instances in the Old Testament where men bow to angelic figures. It's not a sign of worship, simply reverence. Just as people in England bow to the queen. Consider Abraham and his meeting with the three angels.

  • @SrKAtaide I researched it more & it is more than I have said about Kneeling before a Angel. It is said to not Bow or kneel before any Angel or Worker of the LORD,but only Bow or Kneel before none ,but GOD or Jesus. I correct myself here !

Mary should have not been kneeling before this Angel as she did !

Another thought here is the Kneeling or Bowing before a Pope or Biship in the Catholic Church. They should not Bow or Kneel before these two church members at all ! They do wrong in this !

  • @turtle4aire Well said.

  • Hey, Mary's mother isn't hebrew. She's Arabic! WATCH OUT MARY AND JOSEPH SHE'S A SPY FOR MUHAMMED!!!

  • HaLLeluyah !

  • bak derk derk ala muhammed jihad. al ka sherp sherpa bakala derka derka derka jihad ALLAH !!!!!!!!

  • Mary is beautifull!

  • we do have spiritual powers, only through prayer and meditation one will find it and of course being holy which is hard now and days.....when one is holy one is very sensitive to other people

  • Mary is so sweet, humble, and quiet. She must have had a beautiful soul.

  • wait.. what were the three kings looking into? their magic glass globe?

  • wise men not three kings

  • @LeB4eVeR1943 i said the same thing when i saw that part...

they're actually looking at the reflection of the sky in the water, very clever

and let's call them the wise men.

  • i'm guessing it was a pool of still water, it was showing a reflection maybe?

  • yes it is.. you can see the sky in the water...

  • they look into a waterput so they look actually in the sky...

  • It's a pool of clear water reflecting the nighttime heavens. Not kings. .. they were "magi" from whence we get the word "magic". Basically, they were royal advisors, which the job description included being able to predict something about the heavens. that was a common belief then; the Jews, and the Bible, assert the belief that the events in the heavens reflect the importance of events going on "down here" kind of like a thermostat. When Jesus died it was the same: an eclipse and an earthquake.

  • the kings were looking inside a pool of water that reflects the stars..

  • if i became pregnant this young... boy oh boy. My parents would flip

  • imagine getting pregnant w/o a husband in a time and place women got stoned by that...

  • @cutiepie01510 So did Mary's parents. And eve though she told the truth about the angel, they didn't believe her

  • @cutiepie01510 - According to records, Mary was about 15 - 16 when she bore Jesus.

  • @cutiepie01510

These were different times. One does not question the LORD's blessings, we just receive them with humbleness and gratitude!!!

    GOD Bless you.

  • i saw this movie saturday at church, and sunday on the television. It's cool

  • Not sure what the significance of that little chase scene was with the Roman soldiers.

  • the fact that they were yelling "the messiah will save us" mary realized that she was bearing the messiah

  • it showed the oppression that the Jews were under when Herod was the king.

  • The Lord is BEAUTIFUL in all ways. He works wonders. Most of which we can't understand. But He will always deliver us from temptation and ALL evil.

  • We all serve God, we are all His children, why argue about what specific branch of Christianity we are...rediculous, plain rediculous....

  • Amen! Cannot argue with that one ^-^

  • I would be flippy scared out of my mind! ...but I would still obey God.

  • I find it interesting that you are being an advocate for "the Church" with an sign on of PimpJuicePat. Just interesting. Great movie

  • What's with all the Mary worship in the comments here? =/

  • Its not worship.... its honoring the Mother of God... Jesus honored her.. why shouldnt we?... St Paul says to imitate Christ in all things...

  • Comment removed

  • Non- Catholics will never understand because they dont want to understand, all they want to do is disprove the only Church established from Jesus Christ himself... have you ever read Church history? to go deep into history is to cease to be protestant.... do your research!

  • Comment removed

  • aahhhhhh i get you now... ur one of those who thinks we worship statues and pictures of Jesus and Mary... Keep believing what the protestand church teaches... you know nothing about Catholicism so like i said go do your research!

  • it is the best nativity movie ive ever seen!

  • I just realized the girl who plays Mary is the same girl who came out in Whale Rider :0 she's so grown up!!

  • "O Virgin Mary, Mother of God, You are the Life that I want to live; you are the Light that I want to radiate. You are the Way to the Father. You are the Love with which I want to love. You are the Joy that I want to share.

  • Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to you O Israel!

  • Verbum caro factum est, et habitavit in nobis.

  • I always felt rather sorry for Mary. First she almost got stoned to death and she conceived without being able to enjoy it. She also had to stand by and watch as her son get crucified. I can't imagine how awful that must have been. I guess I admire her all the more for having to go through all that and still stay strong and humble. I suppose she was alright in the end since she can be with her son forever, she's a saint and is loved by many around the world. I think she deserves that and more.

  • I agree with most of what you said except for "she conceived without being able to enjoy it." Relations between a man and a woman were very different back then. It was not used for enjoyment like it is now. Unfortunately for our society, we use God's given method for procreation as entertainment and treat bodies like they are nothing. We are all temples of the Holy Spirit and must be treated as such. :)

  • @CarmeliteGirl25 i AGREE W/ U..MOST OF THE WOMEN TODAY DON'T RESPECT THEMSELVES.

  • Comment removed

  • It was part of Mary's earthly role to take part in the Christ's Passion. She was, and we are, called to "take up our crosses" and suffer like Christ for the atonement of sin. I think Mary knew her role and played it well. That is what we should do. We may not know "the whole story," but if we play our roles well and share in Christ's Passion, we glorify God. Who better understands the Passion besides Mary?

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy - Hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope!

  • Amen! and thats the TRUTH! Thats not Catholic teaching or Protestant teaching... thats the plain TRUTH! Thank you....

  • @floreat19

" I always felt rather sorry for Mary."

save the pitty for yourself cause we are still here in earth in danger of our livevs

  • @IsaacBG84 oh stfu.

  • @IsaacBG84, dude harsh, why did you have to lash out like that for no reason, he/she was just talking about Mary, he/she didn't even say anything about anybody, that wasn't cool. You could've just enjoyed the movie without being so rude, no offense, bye.

  • @joejar5

    comment taken...

  • @IsaacBG84, just know I didn't do it to be offensive, but I just thought you may have been rude to the person you commented, but it's all good man. God bless.

  • @joejar5

Ok, no prob, peace from the most high, Jesus....

  • @IsaacBG84 Amen.

  • @floreat19

Glory to God and the Christ only. Mary was merely a humble vassal of the Lord. The current adoration given to her by catholics is not sound Scripture based dogma.

  • @floreat19 "without being able to enjoy it"..you are talking about our lovely Lady, so please be careful..the magnitude of her purity is beyond of any human's logic..

  • @lionnew Please be aware that while Mary conceived and bore a son while a virgin, she did not remain so after the birth of Jesus. "Matthew ch1, v24+25 - Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her TILL she had brought forth her FIRSTBORN Son." Also, note that the Gospels and Acts speak of brothers of Jesus. Mary did not STAY virgin all her life. She had more than her FIRST born. Joseph did have children

  • @Iluvantir what?? ...Our Sweet Lady was virgin in all her life..Jesus Christ was her first and only son!!!

  • @lionnew Read the Bible, my friend. Joseph was told to not "know" Mary "til she had brought forth her firstborn son." To "know" is to make love to. Firstborn implies more. Also, there are other sections of the gospels where Mary and the brothers of Jesus come to see him. Acts referrences it as well. It is not logical nor needful for Joseph to have never slept with Mary once Jesus had been born. She was blessed above all women, but just a woman. A sinner in need of a saviour - just like us.

  • @Iluvantir And Joseph's orders from the angel were specific. He was to not be with his wife sexually UNTIL Jesus had been born. It would have been natural that, once the time of cleansing was over (I believe 8 days) he and Mary would have consumated their marriage and more children would have come to them over the following years. There is nothing in the Bible that points to Mary having remained a virgin all her life, and most especially not to Mary being "holy" herself.

  • @Iluvantir Which version of the Bible you are reading my friend? cause you know there are many versions, and many "truths" out there..Iam a Christian Orthodox and in my Bible there is no such a thing...God and Our Virgin Lady bless you..

  • @lionnew Matt 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son (KJV) - but she remained a virgin until her son was born (NLT) - But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son (NIV) - but knew her not until she had given birth to a son (ESV) - And knew her not till she had brought forth her first-born son (Websters) - but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son (NASV)

  • @lionnew and did not know her till she brought forth her son -- the first-born (Young's Literal Translation) - and knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn son (Darby Trans) - and didn't know her sexually until she had brought forth her firstborn son (Hebrew Name Version)

Which Version do you read? Joseph did not have sexual relations with Mary UNTIL she had given birth to Jesus. The very wording is against this theory of Mary always remaining a virgin.

  • @lionnew Also, read Matt 13: 55-56 "Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? "And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?"

Jesus had four brothers and at least two sisters. (sisters being plural but not specific)

  • @Iluvantir If what you say is true and Mary had other children, why would Jesus entrust her to John at the Cross? "And from then on, the disciple took her into his OWN home." No Jewish child would leave their mother in the care of a stranger, remember the fourth commandment "Honour thy father and mother." Now, we take it as a guide, but back then, it was practically Law. Jesus entrusting Mary to John means that she has no other children who can take care of her when Jesus was gone.

  • @Iluvantir On the concept of Mary remaining a virgin or not, I won't comment, but when you say Jesus had brothers... The things is, the New Testament was written in Aramaic, and in that language, there are no words for identifying family other than brothers/sisters. This means that in Aramaic, I would call my cousin "sister", and my uncle "brother". If we wanted to speak about Jesus' actual, blood related brother, in Aramaic, we would not say "Jesus's brother", we would say Mary or Joseph's son.

  • @aremet31 besides all that Jesus said anyone doing Gods will is his mother his brother his friend.

That's why he came. To bring those of us who love God and hunger for righteousness will be lifted up

  • @Iluvantir What I'm trying to get at, is that when Mark, Luke, John, and Mathew speak about Jesus' brothers, they are not referring to his blood related siblings, but to anyone who is somehow related to Him. I'm not saying you have to believe me or change your opinion. I just thought you ought to know. God bless!

  • @lionnew Mary was chosen to bear Jesus not only due to her virgin status, but also due to her bloodline, she descended from the line of David. After Jesus, Mary had at least 6 children as mentioned here: "Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? "And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?" Mat 13: 55-56 Mary's name was actually Miriam in Hebrew, and was a Jew.

  • touching movie, it's just too bad that they speak english and not their own language

  • Very true, but I don't think all of them are from Middle-East. Mary is from New Zealand, while Joseph and Elizabeth are Americans.

  • That would be because almost no one today speaks Aramaic...

  • this movie is so inspiering,( spelling) why , is that some people are so ignorant

  • mary is so brave

  • Why were the people on the road trying to block the soldiers?

  • I think that it is because the people hate Herod and they wanted to make it challenging for his soldiers to go to the villages and do their job (collect taxes)

  • The filmmakers did a good thing with the vision. The people under the nearby trees disappeared. The surprise/shock to the viewer is not something that is there, but something that isn't there.

    I like that part.

    Tekakaromatagi

  • Hail Mary, full of grace, the lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Through Mary's obedience we are led to Jesus Christ. She was the ark of the New Covenant.

  • I feel bad for Joe.... He's like the third weel......

  • ahaha no! hahahahahaha! what i ment was that here is a beautiful virgin girl having the Lords child, the child itself but then there is Joe.... Not saying he isnt important or something! hahaha

  • What is Elizabeth's actual name in Aramaic /Hebrew?

  • redscorpionx1,

Elizabeth is the Greek version of the Hebrew name Elisheva. Which means My G-d is my oath

  • Oh...i see..

Well to be precise..it is an Anglicised version of a Hellenised Hebrew name...

  • YosiiUK=What is Mary Magdalene's name in Hebrew?

  • Well Magdalene is a Greek version of the Aramaic Magdala, which was a town in Galilee. The name means fort or tower. In Hebrew the word is Migdal. So her name means Mary from Magdala. So in Hebrew it would be Miriam Migdali, or Miriam mi'migdal. In Aramaic, it would be Miriam d'Magdala

  • Oh how I praise such a Blessed Virgin! She knew the laws, knew she was engaged and still accepts so quick to bear The Son of God! Yes, she was still scared but brave!"A MESSIAH TO DELIVER MY PEOPLE."What a line! But He did not help just Mary's people, but all people:white, black,Jewish,or Hispanic. What a caring Lord we have! For Elizabeth speaks truth:"Blessed are you among women and Blessed is the Fruit of your womb!BLESSED IS SHE(THEE) WHO BELIEVES THE LORD'S WORDS!!"

  • Made me rejoice just to see how she was willing to accept so quickly!!!!!

  • I know, such obedience is remarkable! wish I could be more obedient to God! Mary is a great inspiration to me! :)

  • praise the lord and everything he is.

  • Magnificat anima mea Dominum. My Soul Proclaims the Greatnes of the Lord. Mi Alma Proclama la Grandesa del Señor. Ave Maria Gratia Plena Dominus Tecum. Benedicta tu in Mulieribus et Benedictus Fructus Ventris tui Iesu. Sancta Maria Mater Dei Ora Pro Nobis Pecatoribus Nunc et in hora mortis Nostrae.

  • Chilling it is..Great movie. Thanks for posting.

  • Elizabeth's greeting to Mary gave me chills :)

  • Yeah, me, too. Wonderful. :)
