Just because they are from Korea doesn't mean they're forced to do any of this. What kid doesn't want to excel and make their parents proud, they don't have the same distractions as you so they just use their time differently and this is the result. You don't know anything about these people except limited information about their government, stop pretending you know all there is to know. There might be a lot of bad things that happen in Korea but mostly this is the result of a different culture.
