@MrRaveking Quality and Cheapness are mutually exclusive I'm afraid. With a deadly weapon you take your safety into risk, and that of those around you if you use cheap weapons. Thats why people buy a Fable Blades custom made sword. They want quality and reliability.
@NERCTO I'd be hapy to make you one - and I could make it much better than this one now :) If you'd like one drop me a line at brendan@fablebladesdotcom
technically the word claymore means the sword with the basket hilt, not the 2 hander that people think of. and even a sword of this size wasnt really that heavy.
Hey Gavin. Nah it's not. They call it one, but it's not. It's based on a 16thC style of two handed sword, found more in Germany or Switzerland and notably used by the Landesknecht Mercenaries. However the dimensions are very similar to the Scottish claymore, with it's signature downsloping quillions with clover shaped tips.
I went to their site and hey have all these virtual tours. 'kin amazing yup. Look at the ceilings all their swords and spears there. Couldn't see any zweihanders though. U R lucky to have access to a museum like this. The museums in Australia are pretty crap.
Yup, curse whoever chose to give Mel Gibson a 15/16th Century German/Swiss mercenaries' two handed sword to use as a prop for a Scottish hero in the 13th Century. Silly hey?
Don't like to ruin your day,but if you whatch the closing scene of Braveheart closely, when the big bloke runs down the hill, you can see his rubber axe wobbling about..
thanxs u very much for the tip i just saw the i guy hert himself on youtube with a stainless steal sword im going to go to a sword store and get a real one one that is not britel much apprecited for the tips man and good luck with your sword making
99.9% of the swords you buy on ebay are not real swords. They are decorations only. They are NOT SAFE to cut anything. Do a google search for "rat tail tang" and read about the difference between a wall hanger and a real sword. Real swords are never made from stainless steel as it's too brittle. And they never have welded rat tail tangs. Please don't swing the sword you bought. For the safety of yourself and those around you.
man look on the net for the real willam walleces sword its amazing im getting one like that and its 53 inch and 12lb loo that one up on ebay im sure u will think its amazing

A real sword will cost at least $250. Generation 2 make a nice Braveheart. I can make you a much better one for about $1,200. Good luck.
harumba2 3 years ago
Yeah and it's probably even got one of those fancy stainless steel blades. None of that rusty spring steel stuff for you hey?
Be warned to leave the sword like object on the wall where it was built to reside.
