Birnbeck Pier, Weston super Mare - only pier to an island

This quaint and beautiful pier owed it's past success to being a jetty for the steam boats to and from Cardiff. I cannot think of how it can be utilised commercially now, as it is hidden away, almost innaccessible to the general public, without a bus ride at the very least. I love this pier, it holds many fond memories, I would say it is my favourite part of Weston. I could happily sit all day looking at it, but, is it dewstined to forever be a relic of the past?
