  • this new so called shit shows took it over...miss the old stuff

  • where did awesome shows like this go

  • poop

  • I've been looking everywhere for this intro. I had no idea it was a Canadian series.

  • Man I loved that show. Speaking of Canadian shows does anybody remember that one show where kids (played by actors) would be taken to this land of imagination (and blue screen) by a banner or rocket or stuff with the word 'IDEA' on it where they would explore a theme in various tableau? Like they had an episode about 'boxes' and 'rythmn' and then there was the other season with the magical lot. Anybody?

  • @Undrave Did you ever find out what that show was? I think I remeber it too. On TVO right?

  • @MrDk1979 No not yet... it might have been on TVO, though it looked more like it was shot in B.C., it aired in French on Canal Famille in Quebec but I can't find crap based on the french title alone.

  • Man, being a kid in the 80's was SO FUN :o)

  • Those were the good days and I miss them.

  • I remember watching this show when I was young...those were the good days....

  • I could listen to this song all day, man I wish I was a kid again.

  • these were the good old days.

  • I remember this, especially Bonapart the skeleton.

  • MAKES ME WISH I WAS KID AGAIN,

  • why isn't there educational stuff like this now, can anyone make a comparison to anything out there? No Mr. Wizard, No 3 2 1 Contact; Is sesame the only live show for kids out there

  • Thats summer as a 12 year old all over again - love the memories.

  • I wish this and other old pbs shows was still on tv, I have two nieces, and i wish this show and other old pbd shows was still on tv, so they can experience this and other old pbs shows, like i have before them.

  • Cree Summer sings this theme. AKA Elmyra from Tiny Toons, Susie from Rugrats, Freddie from A Different World and many more roles.

  • Thats a fucking slamming bass!!!!

  • Great Song I used to switch the show over after the opening theme ....

  • Holy Cow I remember this bloody owl... man, that is awesome

  • and.... I know all the words to this theme too. Wow, I was a CBC Kid!!

  • I'm sorry but if you are going to strut like this owl, you better have just nailed some seriously hot chicks.

  • remember the magazines?

  • @degentrified Owl magazine for older kids and Chickadee for younger kids :P

  • @LittleNikki12 OWL and chickaDEE are still going strong!

  • I remember this show.. didn't know it was made in canada though.

  • I am 32 and I seriously sing this song to myself sometimes as a kind of inside joke to...myself. Makes me laugh every time. Then I try to explain the song to someone and they have no idea of what I'm talking about.

  • I wish there was an extended version, can listen to this all day.

  • @Tha1999 Preferably a version that lasts about four minutes.

  • @Tha1999 Look up the "First Hoot Club" vid for a much longer, cleaner copy of this.

  • Jammin

  • oh the memories (: I used to watch this show religiously

  • The intro, reminds me of something an early madonna would do. The 80's rules. The era of synth drums and keyboards.

  • oh my god i remember this form when i was a kid

  • Awe man! I wanted to see that otter segment. I remember watching this show on PBS in the mid 80's. I remembered the little white rat quite well in that intro as well. As if I saw the show yesterday.

  • this is really queer

  • Yeah!

  • nice

  • the best!

  • Yes indeed..its Cree Summer, shes got a great voice and she is so hot. Catchy tune too...used to get me goin as a kid.

  • Its Freddie Brooks from A Different World!! She's played a ton of animated characters too. This song is sooo awsome!!!!

  • What do you mean this isn't Rush?

  • OMG, I remember this show so clearly, I was a child in the 1980''s and this was one of my favourites after school.

  • This shiw is still on TV I watch it if I'm up early enough. I used to watch it all fo the time with my older cousin when we used to visit my grandparents.

  • Love it.

  • Who sang the theme song to this show?

  • Cree Summer Francks, who also did voices for other children shows, cartoons & movies. She also starred in the TV show "A Different World" which aired from 1987-1993.

  • She also was a voice actor for "Care Bears the Movie 2", wasn't she? Wasn't Kristy?

  • Yes, she was! That movie's been posted on YouTube, apparently! I haven't seen that movie in a long time! Cree Summer really had her hands full doing a lot of voice acting work, didn't she? LOL!

  • Oh, yeah. I wonder what she's doing now.

  • I can't remember the name but I remember it was the voice actress who played "Penny" on Inspector Gadget. I could be mistaken though.

  • Another great Canadian made show from my childhood.

  • The series is currently broadcast on CTV Saturday mornings

  • Yup

  • Comment removed

  • This song is SO good!!!

  • strange

  • Cree summers sings this song she is the light skin bushy haired girl from the 90's she "a different world" a spin off of the cosby show

  • ARE YOU SERIOUS?

  • Yeah Im dead serious.....youtube is oh so educational

  • maybe u guys can help me. I use to watch YTV. I used to watch a program for kids, it used to show mon to friday on YTV at 11am., they used puppets no humans. It's about a school underwater, and all these underwater animals go to this school, I remembered a snail, the teacher I think was a clam. I really don't remembered much just that I have to looking for for it. Maybe you guys may know which YTV morning show am talking about. thx

  • That's Snailgrove Snail.

  • Thank you so much, I have been looking for the name for the longest time now. Thank you so much.

  • Is it that show with the really bad blue-screen stuff going on, and a shark named "Sharky" or something?

  • Yes, the background was not the best, but the show was a hit for me.

  • you are right Hendershawn that is the time they used to show Owl's tv. My sister and I get up at 5am on Saturdays to watch Owl's Tv and other wonderful Saturday Morning program. I dig the song, "New World it's a brand new life: lol. If every I have kids I may have to buy those from ebay since they are no longer in the store, those was classic not what i see kids watching 2day

  • I used to love bone apart. gosh I really miss this show

  • You think YOU miss Bonapart. I used to spend my days TALKING to that crazy guy! That skeleton had some seriously dry wit!

  • great show and song. they show reruns of this show on ctv montreal bet. 5-6:30 am on saturdays. unfortunately, i forgot the exact time that it's televised. does anybody know?

  • I loved this show. Along with Square One TV, 3-2-1 Contact, Reading Rainbow and all the other educational shows.

  • man i wish i was a kid again

  • No kidding...

  • hey watch your Language

  • Free country... dude.

  • fuck!!!!

  • damn newfies!

  • I Love this song it was the ish. I didn't know it was Cree Summer that sang it, but some voices just resonate with you. So much emotion. The show was aiiiiight! Hit and miss. One of them shows where the theme song gets you to watch the first ten minutes even if it sux. I remember just tuning in for the theme song and then quickly changing the channel to another show I'd rather watch.

  • Hahaha, Yep this is a fantastic program. brings back awesome memories!

  • I am so happy to see Owl TV again, and that adorable otter makes it even better! :)

  • uk version:

    youtube. com/watch?v=vJFlFt-pP44&feature=related

  • k version:

    youtube. com/watch?v=vJFlFt-pP44&feature=related

  • niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

  • I remember the song!! But didn't the UK version have Michaela Strachan in it?!

  • Too true. The 80's was the best time for television, especially for kids. By that time TV had been around long enough that it was accepted as a part of mainstream society, yet new enough that corporations hadn't had the chance to screw it all up yet. These days networks are too afraid of losing their sponsors to produce anything meaningful or even worth watching.

  • Also, I must have an MP3 of this song. Does anyone know where I can find one? :(

  • i can make it for you if your still looking. it would take me no time at all.

  • They seem to be showing reruns of this show again. Was nice to see it again. 6am eastern time CTV if anyone is interested. I have also noticed that reruns of the littlest hobo come on as well.

  • Forgot to mention that it is saturday at 6am that I have seen it come on.

  • i agree the 80s and 90s where kids became kids i mean we brought out gi Jo teddy ruxbin owl tv god too many to mention

  • Wow, I really miss this show. Thanks for posting this little piece of Canadiana!

  • i cringe at the sheer lameness, but it brings back some serious memories of back in the day. on a real, i feel the late 80's to mid 90's was the last era of the true childhood

  • New day it's a brand new start

New world with a brand new heart

There's so much to see and do

With me and all my friends

There's no way to hold me back

Let me tell you when that feeling

comes over me It's like natural energy

When that feeling comes over me

You and I got the beat

    Sung by Cree Summer

  • The last 2 lines are:

And I can't sit still, so alive

    You and I gotta move

  • Loved this show! (Back when it was "Worth" getting up early on a saturday morning! LOL)

  • Yeah! Now all there ever is on Saturday mornings is absolute SHIT!!

  • I used to love this show...the theme song was off the hook!

  • I BEEN LOOKING 4 THIS 4 AGES TY

  • 20 years, i've been looking for this. thank you from the bottomless abyss i call my heart

  • BEST THEME SONG EVER!!!

i was on this show at least once, maybe twice when i was a kid (i only saw one of them) i wish i still had the video of the broadcast.

  • This show had one of the best theme songs!

  • I'm so thankful that CTV plays it now. And I'm thankful for the drunken night that lead to crashing at home and channel surfing to lead me to it! It was a great show indeed.

  • hahah yea i came home and it was on at like 3 in the morning.

  • wow i remember this too.

  • That snare is hard!

  • Classic Cree Summers!

  • that was great. forgot all about that. why cant we still have good stuff like this, instead of the crap they play today

  • I remember this. Cool!

    ~Ra'akone

  • Owl TV also aired in the UK on CITV with a different presenter (fabulous Brit Michaela Strachan). However, the theme tune and opening was exactly the same. It doesn't really look or sound like a wildlife show though does it?

  • What I wouldn't do for a time machine. :(

  • well...instead of paying 1 billion dollars to create a nuclear-powered teleporter, you can hypnotize yourself back in time to experience Owl TV once more. Just be careful not you loose your mind further away from your body.

  • this tune brings me back to 86 man. When the skies were all blue...

  • I remember seeing this in french (I live in Quebec) and it was called «Télé-Hibou» ahhhhh tv memories...

  • Ahhh, télé-hibou! Je m'en souviens... quand j'étais petit j'aimais bien la chanson. Ça bouge!

  • I remember it and the magazine!!! YAY!!! I don't get it anymore, though. Living in the US now, eh? :(

  • WOW!! When I first saw this I had this instant flashback of the show. Only the best , growing up in the early 80's. One thing I didnt know was that Cree Summer did the theme to this show. I think she is a very talented actress and does great animated voice over. I wonder what current projects she recently has done?

  • Freddie Jackson form different world!

  • Don't you mean Freddie Brooks?

  • That show was crap!

  • ur face is crap

  • DAMN YOU!

  • The skeletons name was Boneapart

  • I love Cree Summer's singing. She's pretty in real life too. haha.

  • Cree Summer, really? I never knew that. lol

  • I mean, seriously. I had not idea. And I've always loved her work.

  • does this series have a segment in it where they run through or into some sort of inflatable castle, fort or building? i remember something like this from when i was a kid (im 27), but cant find an entire episode of owl tv. yeah, i loved this show, we got to see it in chicago!

  • I wish someone would post a whole episode of this show. Its a classic from the 80's. I remember the talking skeleton too!

  • lol i remember the talking skeleton.

  • yes! they had this plastic and they used fans to inflate this maze. I am 22 and no one i know remembers this either, except you!

  • :D thank the gods im not the only one! i was really wondering if i had a screw loose or something, lol. thanks for the reply!!!

  • probably one of the best theme intro for tv.

  • For thos of you in Canada, this show is on Saturday mornings at 6am on CTV.

I actually recroded it today and watched my first full episode in probably 15 or 16 years.

They are the original ones too (from the 80's & 90's), not remakes!!!! Check it out!

  • Are you serious? CTV? So thats channel 8 right?

  • Channel 7 . . . at least here in Ottawa

  • Thanks for the news partner , I caught that this shows too one morning but couldn't remember the time or channel thanks for the info again .

  • Love the song huh? BTW, I hear its on CTV, channel 8 or something. Saturdays 6am. I keep forgetting myself lol.

  • Damn, I ain't seen this in at least 20 years! I used to watch it on PBS..The theme song was cool!

  • hey i agree with that!

  • Wow...I never thought I'd hear that song again! How I miss that little show and that animated owl, what a great memory :)

  • This was sung by Cree Summer Francks, Who was also the voice of the little girl in the original Inspector Gadget cartoon, Carver's mom on The Weekenders, and she was also on A Different World,

  • Don't forget she also voiced Christy in Care Bears II: A New Generation. (An sentimental favorite of mine)

  • og i remeber this show when it aired on showtime

  • it was cool to hear that cree summer sang the theme song, freddie from "A Different World".

  • I remember seeing this here in the U.S. on the PBS station. I loved the parts about animals and science.

  • I loved Owl TV. I was truly a 1980's baby. Thanks for recreating a wonderful experience. Oh, the memories of childhood.

  • This show came on in the states too... all the way down here in NC. I don't remember it being 20 years old, though. More like 15 or 16 years old. The funny thing is, I don't remember one single episode of the show or what it was even about, but I knew the theme song perfectly. Even up until today.

  • God . . . I completely forgot about this show! Haven't heard this song in, well, must be almost 20 years as well. Any clips from the show around besides the intro/end credits?

  • If you didn't grow up watching Owl TV, you didn't have a truly Canadian childhood....all's I'm sayin'!

  • Wow... it's gotta be 20 years since I've heard that song yet I knew every word. Thanks for posting

  • NEW DAY! IT'S A BRAND NEW START!

Gosh thanks for sharing this peice of history. I used to love this show

Gosh I can't tell you how much I appreciate you putting this on!
