Man I loved that show. Speaking of Canadian shows does anybody remember that one show where kids (played by actors) would be taken to this land of imagination (and blue screen) by a banner or rocket or stuff with the word 'IDEA' on it where they would explore a theme in various tableau? Like they had an episode about 'boxes' and 'rythmn' and then there was the other season with the magical lot. Anybody?
@MrDk1979 No not yet... it might have been on TVO, though it looked more like it was shot in B.C., it aired in French on Canal Famille in Quebec but I can't find crap based on the french title alone.
why isn't there educational stuff like this now, can anyone make a comparison to anything out there? No Mr. Wizard, No 3 2 1 Contact; Is sesame the only live show for kids out there
I wish this and other old pbs shows was still on tv, I have two nieces, and i wish this show and other old pbd shows was still on tv, so they can experience this and other old pbs shows, like i have before them.
I am 32 and I seriously sing this song to myself sometimes as a kind of inside joke to...myself. Makes me laugh every time. Then I try to explain the song to someone and they have no idea of what I'm talking about.
Awe man! I wanted to see that otter segment. I remember watching this show on PBS in the mid 80's. I remembered the little white rat quite well in that intro as well. As if I saw the show yesterday.
This shiw is still on TV I watch it if I'm up early enough. I used to watch it all fo the time with my older cousin when we used to visit my grandparents.
Cree Summer Francks, who also did voices for other children shows, cartoons & movies. She also starred in the TV show "A Different World" which aired from 1987-1993.
Yes, she was! That movie's been posted on YouTube, apparently! I haven't seen that movie in a long time! Cree Summer really had her hands full doing a lot of voice acting work, didn't she? LOL!
maybe u guys can help me. I use to watch YTV. I used to watch a program for kids, it used to show mon to friday on YTV at 11am., they used puppets no humans. It's about a school underwater, and all these underwater animals go to this school, I remembered a snail, the teacher I think was a clam. I really don't remembered much just that I have to looking for for it. Maybe you guys may know which YTV morning show am talking about. thx
you are right Hendershawn that is the time they used to show Owl's tv. My sister and I get up at 5am on Saturdays to watch Owl's Tv and other wonderful Saturday Morning program. great show and song. they show reruns of this show on ctv montreal bet. 5-6:30 am on saturdays. unfortunately, i forgot the exact time that it's televised. does anybody know?
I Love this song it was the ish. I didn't know it was Cree Summer that sang it, but some voices just resonate with you. So much emotion. The show was aiiiiight! Hit and miss. One of them shows where the theme song gets you to watch the first ten minutes even if it sux. I remember just tuning in for the theme song and then quickly changing the channel to another show I'd rather watch.
Too true. The 80's was the best time for television, especially for kids. By that time TV had been around long enough that it was accepted as a part of mainstream society, yet new enough that corporations hadn't had the chance to screw it all up yet. These days networks are too afraid of losing their sponsors to produce anything meaningful or even worth watching.
They seem to be showing reruns of this show again. Was nice to see it again. 6am eastern time CTV if anyone is interested. I have also noticed that reruns of the littlest hobo come on as well.
i cringe at the sheer lameness, but it brings back some serious memories of back in the day. on a real, i feel the late 80's to mid 90's was the last era of the true childhood
I'm so thankful that CTV plays it now. And I'm thankful for the drunken night that lead to crashing at home and channel surfing to lead me to it! It was a great show indeed.
Owl TV also aired in the UK on CITV with a different presenter (fabulous Brit Michaela Strachan). However, the theme tune and opening was exactly the same. It doesn't really look or sound like a wildlife show though does it?
well...instead of paying 1 billion dollars to create a nuclear-powered teleporter, you can hypnotize yourself back in time to experience Owl TV once more. Just be careful not you loose your mind further away from your body.
WOW!! When I first saw this I had this instant flashback of the show. Only the best , growing up in the early 80's. One thing I didnt know was that Cree Summer did the theme to this show. I think she is a very talented actress and does great animated voice over. I wonder what current projects she recently has done?
does this series have a segment in it where they run through or into some sort of inflatable castle, fort or building? i remember something like this from when i was a kid (im 27), but cant find an entire episode of owl tv. yeah, i loved this show, we got to see it in chicago!
