There are two mistakes in the sketch: - First one: Chapman (lower register cop)tells Idle (the inspector) the whole story, but how could he possibly knew it? Jones (robbed man) told it to the Cleese (higher register cop), which Chapman couldn't understand - Second, similar: Chapman tels Idle the correct address of the robbed man, but again: how could he understand it, when Jones told it in his normal voice?

BTW they should have put Palin in here too (f. ex. only understands foreign language), it would be even funnier IMO
