Jens Lekman is a genius song writer and musician. In general I think the best songs come from actual experiences and this one is funny and sweet. Its heart-warming that he would do that for Nina and help her, even if it's awkward for him. Just love it!

I don't understand why Jens corrects himself saying that Nina was his "pen pal" as opposed to his "friend." The story would make as much sense either way, unless he was trying to convey that he didn't know Nina well enough to call her a friend. There's no indication either way really.

It's something I think every time I watch the video and find interesting. The song is based on the story of Jens and Nina and any detail about their relationship can affect/enrich the context. If Nina was a good friend, you'd expect that Jens would play along. If she was just somebody he barely knew, only through correspondence, then his playing along is that much more remarkable. He could have said screw this and walked away, but he would not to a good friend. Relevant enough?

i'd like to point out that i prefer reading comments like these (yours) instead of, "i love this song", or "beautiful", etc etc which are pretty much pointless since there is a rating system.

i think that jens used the term 'pen pal' to relate to the title, hence, 'postcard'. personally, i think the term 'pen pal' could very much be just as close as a 'friend', so there isn't much difference, but thats just a personal opinion.

what an insane version. he's making mistakes left right and centre and it remains brilliant. it was almost like the laughing put him off. his lyrics are hilarious around other people. they make you feel naked. almostg like if you take them seriously you'd be a wimp. but if you listen through headphones they are the most poetically perfect songs that simply bring a smile to yoru face.
