Start throwing the rocks people but I've followed Heep from the beginning ..... and IMO Shaw is actually the best singer the line-up ever had. Byron was good, even close. But he never had Shaw's dynamic range, or, arguably, expression.
That said, you *prefer* Byron, that's personal taste & OK by me.
Oh, & jsaw, thanks for proving my point (below). You really *are* a prize winning dog-in-a-manger miserable git ;-P
