  • it feels like i spotted slim dusty at 1:29

  • Pure Magic from Judith & the Boys ...

  • I'm working at Australian International School Indonesia. We use this beautiful song's tune for our school song. It is a wonderful song!!

  • No dislikes!! I wonder why :P AMAZING

  • As a Forgotten Australian, The Seekers were my sole source of comfort during my years of suffering. They always managed to keep me looking forwards and helped put the bad behind me.

  • @BobMaddern They are of great comfort for many of us on dark days.I will always be greateful for what they have given us.

  • What a tribute this song is...by the greatest group I can remember growing up. Well done Seekers..thanks for posting

  • I am proud to be Australian! Happy Australia Day to All Aussies.

    Great video. Teena :-)

  • @2468Teena ditto darlin

  • The Seekers are Australia's greatest singing group ever and this song I Am Australian is the greatest Australian song - it gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and I'm proud to be an Aussie - I have loved the Seekers all my life

  • OMG OMG OMG 2:58 SLIM DUSTY!!!!!!!!!

  • I know it isn't the anthem of Australia, but it is without comparison the most beautiful national song ever written worldwide.

  • @Northman1066 Agree - just as good, if not better than Neil Diamond's "America"..

  • The Seekers, Australias greatest export

  • @raywint1 You are preaching to the choir. When we all have more faith in each other and care about each other we will be one race. The Human Race. Religion provides some good moral and philisophic codes and laws, but are in essence misused by the leaders of those religions to hold power over people. And such power can be used for bad as well as good. Have a great new year.

  • It is great to be Australian in this beautiful country of ours..

  • @SuperLetithappen you got that right

  • @SuperLetithappen You're guys Australians are great friends for us, Indonesian.. :x

  • @dessyAIS Thankyou yes we are very good friends, having two great countries..

  • by heck i'm english but this really tears at the heart, WHY have'nt we got someone a quarter as good as judith to sing us a song like that? when she sang it at the mcg it must have brought australia to a standstill, WONDERFUL JUDITH.XXX

  • @applepie238 Judith she is a legendary Australian

  • @applepie238 When did Judith sing it there (MCG which I guess is the cricket ground?)

  • I am a Kiwi who served in the Nam with the infantry. The Seekers were bloody good then and still are.Judith is one of the few singers who you can hear every note.Us and our Aussie mates got into lots of firefights but we knew one would never let the others down. This song makes me choke up.Go Aussies we love ya,

  • @heywoodjerbloume

Good onya, mate. 3RAR Vietnam vet here. Thanks for your support. Kiwi Arty battery saved my hide in 1968. The Seekers here say it all. Pride in our country, our history, and such a beautiful song really says it all.

  • @BlueyM You're more than welcome mate.I think they sound as good as they did in the 60s.Have a few tubes for old times.

  • Damn, that Judith Durham is an angel.

  • the woman look as if she's at the same age back in the 60s

  • this should be our national anthem

  • schwul

  • yes... the lyrics , and the music, is so good+

  • I always get chills and teared-up when I hear the Seekers perform. My wife and I grew up with them in the sixties. I, like so many other hundreds, perhaps thousands of young men, had a terrible crush on Judith Durham. Maybe we'll be able to travel down under this coming year to see them live. This song makes me think and feel, that if I had not been born an American, I would want to have been born an Aussie.

  • For some strange reason the 2nd verse was not included in this performance:

"I came upon the Prison Ship, bowed down by Iron Chains,

I worked the land, endured the Lash, and waited for the Rains.

    I'm a settler, I'm a Farmer's wife, on a dry and barren run,

First a Convict, then a free man, I became Australian.

A rather important bit of the History to be casually dropped, eh?

  • Just makes you to be proud to be a AUSSIE!

  • Great song! I´m from Austria and I can´t wait for comming to that amazing and beautiful country!! I think if I arrived in Australia I will sing this song because I´m so happy to stand on Australian´s soil!!! :)

  • This should be austrailias national anthem .

  • can´t help crying allthough I have heard it a hundred times before. Some times we are all australians :-)

  • RESPECT FROM GREECE .....THIS SONG IS AMAZING....

  • Fantastic..it gives me goose bumps...Mary the Supergranny

  • Think about this! Why do we let borders, geography, or politics divide us? If you changed some of the lyrics, “I am Australian” would be a great model for a planetary anthem for all Humanity. I am, You are, We are all Human Beings!

  • @templerman1 A great point but you miss the most important thing that divides us religion, the sooner we all believe in each other and not some mythical beings that may or may not have existed the better the world will be.

  • @templerman1 You make a great point :)

  • I've commented on this song before. I think many Americans would like our national anthem to say more. Songs like This Land Is Your Land by Woody Guthrie, (which has been adapted to versions in the UK, Wales, Ireland, Belgium, Namibia, and in Israel), and I am Australian's message would make a great new national anthem. Any comments on the idea?

  • YES!! :-) Could be an anthem - uplifting, and beautiful- true!

  • Beautiful song. Truly this reflects who we are as Australians. Should be our anthem, more uplifting than what we have

  • Did they write this song?

  • @Swede9418 Bruce wrote it with his friend and fellow songwriter Dobe Newton.

  • @rich963 Yep - and just last weekend they got a Golden Guitar at Tamworth for it - Heritage Song of the Year ... can't remember who recorded this version though.

  • @rich963 Just did a quick look - The Bushwackers did the latest recording - Dobe Newton!

  • @roseanne74 Thanks for the info.

  • @Swede9418 YES...

  • Как же я им завидую -- свободным гражданам Великой Страны, в которой не стыдно и не больно быть патриотом!..

  • @silentium1972

    OH MY GOD!

That's exactly what I was thinking...

  • unbelievable, what a uplifting song.

  • This song should be our national anthem

  • Bruce's masterpiece - never tire of hearing it (though I am Canadian)

  • Great song, fantastic voice, an unbeatable combination.

  • This song gave me shivers. I am an American and love our patriotic music, but we need an American anthem that truly inspires. God bless the U.S.A., and Australia.

  • Geez I'm glad I'm an Aussie....

  • makes you proud to be an australian

  • Realy something to be proud of.

  • Happy Australia Day to all Australians from a patriot of australia

  • Judith Durham has the most wonderful voice

  • This is one fantastic song from an equally fantastic group. I agree with fabfaruk's statement in that we have some great patrotic songs in the U.S., but nothing as descriptive as this. We share a simular history in that we left Brain, but for different reasons. We left for religious freedom and I guess freedom from the Crown, whereas Australia was a Penal Colony and thus a much darker history in the beginning.

  • I swear that before my dying day that Australia is a MUST SEE!!

  • Every time I hear this song I tear up and I'm not even an Aussie. We have some great patriotic songs in the USA but I'm not sure we have one that says it as elgantly as this one does. Australia is so blessed to have a group like the seekers as a national treasure.

  • Nobody. NOBODY can sing this song with such emotional authority as The Seekers. Not Woodley alone, any other soloist nor any other collection of singers. ONLY The Seekers. Amazing.

  • Is that a ram's horn being blown or didgeredoo?

  • @grimTales1

    didgydoo!

  • @gpoleweski Thanks!

A fantastic performance from the group. :)

  • Another fantastic performance from surely the best band in the whole world, absolutely perfect! Thanks Richard for posting! Keep up the fantastic work!

  • I love this classic Seeker's song, written by Bruce Woodley a wonderful song writer. I'm sure most Australians love this song too.
