  • Its fitting to give some of the best flyers in this war some of the best planes in this war. The P-51 Mustang and the Tuskegee Airman are a fitting combination.

  • @Sidewinder5O4 As a United States Army Officer who lays gladly puts his life on the line everyday, theres no greater confict within me, how do i feel about about my country, and how does my country, feel about me? this has me crying as we speak

  • this is my favorite part of this film. That speech still brings me to tears...

  • @MariaLangdon2008 it brings me to tears also:)

  • Thomas!!!!!!!

  • here comes the red tail!

  • Benjamin O. Davis Reallly Spoke Some Truth

  • I love the natural black genuine Rapport these brothers generate!

Great actors doing something that comes natural to black folks.

  • As far as I know, black pilots flew in P-39's Aerocobras.

  • @DrHavoc1 They did. They also flew P-40s, P-38s and P-51s.

  • @DrHavoc1: They flew anything they were given. And if some of you will forgive my saying so, the P-39 was a bit meh compared with the P-47 and P-51. Although I admit it was probably better than the P-40.

  • @NobleKorhedron The Russians didn't think so. They received 5000 of these machines threw land lease and used them against the Germans to great effect. The central placement of the engine gave it unusual maneuverability and allowed to mount a heavy 37mm cannon that fired threw the propeller. One shell from that thing took out any German aircraft.

  • @DrHavoc1: Then I'm surprised it wasn't used more in the West. What was wrong? Was it vulnerable to the FW-190?

  • @NobleKorhedron Its very dangerous to not experienced pilots, easy to enter tail spins and hard to get out of. Those planes killed a lot of people in the process of learning.

  • @NobleKorhedron In a plane with a conventional engine layout, when you stall(lose airspeed to the point of falling, wings can't generate lift without speed), your engine will drag the nose of the plane down, you will gain some speed, and if you were flying high enough, you will be able to recover from the spin. The cobra, however, had its engine placed in the middle of the aircraft, so if you stalled, the plane would spin uncontrollably.Getting out of this required lots of skill.

  • LOL! the bomber came home clean, no scratches.

  • If black ppl were only given a fair chance

  • i was a green card (cizizens with a green card earning their citizenship by serving in the U.S armed forces 3 out 4 yrs of good conduct service will earn ur citizenship) serving in the US Navy as a corpman during the war in Iraq and we were treated with as much disrespect as here. my division was called the united nations division. After I receive my citizenship i became a SAR swimmer bc no one in my ship wanted that job. i saved 2 fishermen from drowing in Bahrain.

  • wow, flying b-17G's and getting shot to hell. shows just how great and lucky the memphis belle was when they flew the lighter armed F model 25 missions casualty free.

  • I love Andre Braugher..... He is one of my favorite actors....

  • hahaha- at 3:59- door gunner in B-17 the rounds on the 50 cal have no projectiles- seriously!!!!

  • One thing I never understood about this movie was that their fighters didn't sport red tails. That's the symbol of the Tuskegee Airmen in general and the specific markings of the 99th in particular. They had several P-51s that they clearly repainted just for the film, why not splash some red on them?

  • Fake Me 109 ?

  • @geforce5700fx Its a Spanish made version...it uses a Merlin engine ? Instead of a DB

  • best speech!

  • Big typographical error at 3:45 in the video. The 22nd BG flying B-26's and later B-24 Liberators was in the P.T.O. in 1943 and 1944.I'm sure they mean the 2nd BG instead which flew B-17's in Italy.

  • The first 3minutes and 30 seconds of this clip is my favorite part of this movie. Andre Braugher did a heck of a job portraying Benjamin O. Davis.

  • But again it's all about the Americans....

  • 3:59 you can see they are shooting with blank rounds.

just look at the ammo belt on the m2 HMG :)

  • lmao yeaaa... the white man cut the senator off

  • Brand new Mustangs!

  • "how do I fell about my country, and how the country feel about me?"

    I love this part!!!

  • For those that ever decides to questions ANYONE patriotism, I want you to remember this direct and sharply pointed question that LtCol. Davis asked:

"Are we only to be Americans when the mood suits you?"

  • It's infuriating that even when they were out there fighting there were a bunch of Jim Crow assholes back in Washington commissioning bullshit "studies" and other such like things to try to say they couldn't do it.

  • It's really funny to see how racist fought nazis, now that's irony

  • @fidan2fast ye i know eh. i am astonished that blacks wud even volunteer to fight for america at that time.

  • @327372 well, not to jump to conclusions, but I think that they didn't fight for America, but to prove that they are worthy

  • @fidan2fast It was for both. Hitler felt that the Russians were better off as slaves or dead. and the Jews were better off dead! If Nazi Germany had won WW2 Who knew what they would have done espicially when Hitler was looking for a 1000 year "Master Race". I wish I could say that War was fought over racism, unfortunately I don't think I can nor do I have enough to back it up. Just my two cents. Take it for what it's worth.

  • @fidan2fast It was for both. Hitler felt that the Russians were better off as slaves or dead. and the Jews were better off dead! If Nazi Germany had won WW2 Who knew what they would have done espicially when Hitler was looking for a 1000 year "Master Race". The Airmen fought this war because like other americans at that time their way of life was in jeporady as well as to prove to white america public they can step to the plate and get the job done. and they did that!

  • Are those Nazi P-40s?

  • @halberd64 lol no, just a bad movie design of the powerful Me-109, but the nazis did capture american planes and studied them in real life

  • @halberd64 its actually a spanish built 109 powered by rolls royce merlin engine

  • These pilots were the elite, and kicked ass when given the proper chance

  • 1:56 - 3:38, one of the most epic speeches I've ever heard ANYWHERE.

  • For starters the way minorities have been mistreated was not only a wwI & II situation. It has been since the beginning of time.

  • "Let him finish."

Which is a disciplined, military way of saying, "Shut up, you pompous ass!"

  • Also, the 332nd was flying P-47s when it transferred to Ramitelli.

  • I think the depiction of why losses were heavy are inaccurate here. Escort fighters just didn't have the range to go all of the way and Germans just held off attacking until the bombers were unprotected.

  • los alemanes no usaban confeti solo cañones

  • most inspirational movie speech I've seen so far...

  • Hey BA31Driver your right man that was one of the best speeches you will ever hear i love that speech it makes so much sense

  • also 4:29

  • in 3:59 you can clearly see that there is no pullets for the gun just shells..

  • @outkas Don't forget that they don't eject anything either.

  • The B17 captain is the evil pilot dude from 24!

  • The speech from the beginning to 3:30 is one of the BEST speeches I've ever heard, in any movie or anywhere else.

  • ofcourse i came across discrimination before, we all have, at sometime or another, i had adversity in my life.

the difference between myself and the blacks back then, is that i have access to a good lawyer, i have access to the courts, to be heard in it.

    they didnt.

  • and the last thing i read, there is no standardized process to making a country.

all i have to do, is declair myself a nation, and accept citizens.

and we would all be deported.

which is whati would fuckin do.

  • if i lived in a country that treats me that way, i would just as soon get all my people together, and make our own.

if america ever treated me like that, id fuckin have antarctica, with me and my people.

    :)

  • That's not racism. It is enacted upon all pilots.

  • ALL pilots needed degrees. not racism. i agree with cellogamer.

  • In the Canadian Military as well, every single pilot, whether it's fighter, transport, helicopter, trainer, or anything capable of flying, ALL pilots are required to have a University Degree, before even being accepted to start training.

  • @MrJournalism101 from haynes1776 I just want you to know that it was wrong the way Americans: black, japanese, native, ect were treated During World war 1 and 2. I cannot blame them for wondering "why fight for a country that treats you like a second class citizen and no body and repays you by lynching you or spit in your face and being hostle? The only way to over come these racist attitudes was by serving their country with honor and courage

  • @MrJournalism101 from haynes1776: Im sorry, but i just dont share your point of view. Being a black american myself, i was appalled at what happened those days, but I have no feeling of hatred or bitterness towards those who discriminated other americans because of color, race, religion. As jesus says "Love your enemies" "forgive them, for they dont know what they are doing". Think about it.

  • Is the sound disabled?

  • Benjamin O. Davis was more then a soldier but a patriot.

  • @RMSTitanic87 Aye that he was

  • @RMSTitanic87

A real patriot not some ammo hording nut waving the flag well met sir!

  • @RMSTitanic87: Was he real? Or was he just made up for the movie? I know these guys really fought the Germans but was Benny real? Or an amalgam of other black men for movie purposes?

  • @NobleKorhedron , lol Yes. General Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. was very real.

  • @MsCaramello73: Yeah, my bad. I looked him up on wikipedia. I was wondering because often these characters are a composite of several real people.

  • @NobleKorhedron , yeah. There are a lot of composite characters in this film. No worries. Have a good one. ;)

  • @RMSTitanic87 Thomas!!!!!!!

  • a bomber thats shot up, without a hole to be found.

  • Awesome speech dealing with what this country is.

  • @apostleis you mean WAS

  • @Evilstewie831
