Hey DRBUK, did you hear about the Apple vs. Proview from China case? Proview in China is saying they own the trademark and name iPad and bought it in 2000 and Apple didn't bother to research this and they want $1.5 (+) Billion USD from Apple.
So pretty much Apple can't call their iPad an iPad in China.

Probably. I'm sure they want this squashed ASAP as they recently opened that huge gorgeous looking store there. That and China will surpass America as the leading mobile and smartphone market in the world, if it hasn't already. There is a HUGE market there for them.
Buying it outright from Proview may be the quickest solution for them.

@turnermedman1231 I'm reading his biography, and he doesn't come across greedy, definitely smug but then he has a lot to be smug about...steve isn't exactly the best of people, but its that in him that has allowed him to develop the company that he has...if he wasn't him, i don't think apple would be apple...
@DRBUK The thing with Jobs was he was both the best and worst of people, very very VERY rarely in between lol. He was always polar opposites from one second to the next. Like his whole "this is shit" one moment to "this is brilliant!" the next, even about the same thing lol.
My thoughts: Let the market decide! Consumers will buy the devices that work well, regardless of whether one device may have copied another. I personally can't help thinking Apple would win the battle outright in this context.

Adrian, not that its the worse thing in the world, but why do you almost exclusively use your Macbook's built in camera when filming yourself over using that really nice SLR that you have?
@IRBrad time and convenience, i barely get time to plan videos so the minute an idea jumps in my head i quickly film it, i don't have the time to step up the camera, then import the film then edit it etc.
@DRBUK High protein, healthy carbs. I love to eat baked beans, canned corn and tuna. Cheap and good but manna all canned :(. Boiled meats are tasty too.

@DRBUK They rip off more than the shape of the device or icons. They're ripping off the packaging too (down to the plastic wrap round cables), advertising was very similar too before the "Apple customers are retarded because they line up" ads, they even ripped off the 30pin dock connector, but put the pins on the opposite side. Look at some of their newer laptops and so on, they're very similar. The Verge has a good overview of the Apple-esque aspects of their new Series 7, even down to the dock
@DRBUK Apple can report on it all they like, but its clear for the eyes to see what a copyist samsung is, but to me thats all old news.
What i see from samsung now are some petty attempts at trying to make people who buy Apple look stupid, i find it really hard to see how samsung doesn't want long queues for there phones..
@TalesOfWar We all know if it were not for the iPod, Apple would have gone bankrupt years ago. But fanboys will give credit to their god Steve Jobs for saving Apple. I agree Steve Jobs played a big role. But the product that sold overwhelmingly and pulled Apple out of trouble was the iPod. It sure wasn't their expensive laptops and desk top computers. Although Apple came up with the digital interface...portal music was not Apple's idea as Apple fans will have you believe. Remember Walkman?
@GlockNinja Sony was not doing well the hi fi race was flooded with other brands. Sony never got really big until they came out with the Walkman. The iPod of that generation.
@GlockNinja lol I love it when people sell Apple short or just ignore their impact from their innovations. Apple never claimed to have invented the MP3 player market, they just made it better. They supplied the whole widget from end to end. Even now, competing PMP's suck from an integration stand point. The software they come with is terrible and still works like the crap they shipped it with before iPod showed up. Zune was the only thing that took the same approach. MS dropped the ball there.
@TalesOfWar actually, I am not selling Apple short. If a company was to take what Apple did and made it better, then it is stealing. But if Apple takes something somebody else did first and made it better..it is innovation. That is the only thing I am pointing out here about Apple fans. I sell Apple fans short not Apple. :-)

But I'm also for the other companies protecting their patents as well. And to be honest, if someone has a patent it shouldn't be debated if it should belong to them or not. IMO
