And in Chuck, it was used in the first season for the halloween episode when morgan was waiting for chuck and they were going to be that worm-looking thing. Schwartz used this song in both scenes, except the OC's one was more serious and romantic and in Chuck it was more for humor/mockery

It's funny that people now relate this to Chuck. To me this is still about Ryan and Marissa. Josh Schwartz actually uses a lot of songs and bands for the soundtracks of both shows. To name a few: Jet, Spoon, Matt Pond PA, Rogue Wave, The Eels. I do think his soundtrack of soundtrack is a bit more accessible than The OC soundtrack. He uses more classic songs and mainstream stuff. I was very suprised to hear Britney Spears - Toxic for example.
