  • I am all for growing my own food but not for bugs. kill the bugs love don't keep the termites from eating your house poison does.

  • Peak phosphorus is a much bigger concern than nitrogen... do a little looking into that and you'll find that it's potentially a nightmare scenario for the future of agriculture.

  • Learn to be self sustainability study permiculture and appropriate technology to live in a crisis or natural disaster situation. Biospharms has the info you need to thrive and survive. Both on and off the grid. BIOSPHARMS

  • If that's not permaculture (Earthcare, peoplecare, fairshare) then I'll eat his hat.

  • 18 people work for monsanto watched this video

  • If I am not mistaken, Home Land Security have laws on the book that limits and ultimately halts growing your own food. The big seed company(s) if not already are allowed to put seeds on the marker that produces one crop only. Please update or correct this information. Thanks!

  • This is a wonderful video! I hope more people can change their thinking and use their city spaces more efficiently like this. You show them what's possible. Unfortunate that in a lot of cities they don't allow chickens :( I'm going to look for your videos on gardening in the north. Thanks very much!

  • Thanks for a really interesting video and for interviewing an interesting gardener who hasn't completely committed to permaculture, but is picking the most useful components of it. Greatly appreciated!

  • Sustainability is right! Thank you for sharing. Although, this could be a little overwhelming for a first time gardener. Through research I found a system that is just as productive but uses less water, space and time to care for. The Bucket Garden was created by a man of experience The Garden Master. Before starting a garden to sustain your family or community do your research and you will benefit greatly!

  • absolutely great ... it was about time that people start hitting this direction ... all the best .

  • the video ended just when he started talking about what i wanted to know, you should do a show about how to save seeds

  • @simonk512, great idea. I'm planning to do that, and talk about seed swaps and coops, too. Any suggestions of experienced seed savers in North America, for when we take to the road to tape more shows? ~ Janaia

  • awesome!

  • Good video, might want to check out the following sites for how to survive when the SHTF, Greenpowerscience, Growingyourgreens and some solar sites, check out the one with soda pop can solar heater. Good idea for northern cold areas. Oh also check out Eat the Weeds. Live long and stay free, we can get through these tough times, Americans have always survived we still are a great nation regardless of who runs it.

  • A kindred spirit you are, dear sir! You outlined my personal vision for my own property! Indeed, insects that are "pests" are just as part of nature as everyone else. I extend that view to animals we view as pests. They're just creatures that adapt well to us and we hate them for it!

  • awesome, awesome, awesome! Truly inspiring, this is my dream garden. Seeds as currency, I have already thought of it and have already started growing and collecting. Keep up the good work.

  • check out farmout.org!

  • Even if everybody in the world grew whatever crops they could in whatever property they owned, humans would starve. Total number of humans N needs to be reduced. Mandatory birth control is much preferred to slow starvation (may be equal in value to killing each other - I don't know). Problems scale nonlinearly (quadratic, at least) with N.

Still need collective effort with advanced technology. Of course, ANY form of farming itself IS high-tech, compared to a million years ago.

  • Anti-communism and anti-socialism are hysterical bullshit. Get over them.

Life is complex. This means the optimal amount of libertarian freedom and laws can be determined only by complex mathematical and computer models - not by brainless simplistic "communism bad" bullshit ideology religion dogma.

    Get over it.

  • I don't care about reconnecting with earth and I don't believe - and I don't need to believe - any of this spirituality nourish-our-souls religion. I am a proud patriotic vegan American atheist, as are all my friends and family. We oppose human and animal breeding. Ideally we would live in a high-tech society (high-tech for EVERYone, e.g. sort of like the Zeitgeist ideal), bioengineer meat without torturing animals, but we need 1/7 the current human population to do that.

  • Beautiful Answers.... Horrible interview.... It frustrated me with some of those questions... My goodness.. Human beings are the only ones who are given control of the planted. Why would we not take proper care of it... Of course hes going to let the cucumber beetle eat the cucumber.. Hes helping to balance life, in a F@#$d up society... So good man... Best to you... Thats inspiring!!!

  • Keeping animals is helpful; a dog for its eyes and ears, a cat to keep the rodents in balance. But you certainly can't force them to become vegetarians. The most concentrated form of protein you can grow in a small space is rabbits. Or trade with your fishing or hunting neighbor for their offal and scraps; your animals can eat the remainings of trims and guts. Yes, it's dirty business, unlike the currently perverse “pet-relationship” and its bags of sanitized industrial kibble.

  • He mentioned growing food not just for yourself, but for your animal. If you have a small yard like that, how exactly do you go about growing enough food for, say, a dog or cat who are obligate carnivores?

  • I think if we are serious about sustainability we need to start from the seed, these guys at Sustainable Seed Banking Forum seem to be on the right track

  • Like this channel, very informative and inspiring. Janaia does a great job and seems to really imerse herself in her interviewee's world and clearly loves her job.

Scott's back yard cultivation is a great first step that many people can take and this is my first year trying to make my own back yard in the UK productive. Great work and keep it up.

  • Can't wait to get a garden myself... Not sure if my neighbors would appreciate chickens, though, packed together tightly as most suburban houses are around here.

  • Peak Oil is bullshit and so is climate change - get over it.

  • Excellent, thanks for your great work :)

Self-supply and self-healing is the key to a better life and world!!

  • Dude, you're a landscaper yes no? ever notice in the wild how you can have a tree with a vine growing on it, a shrub under it, a few weeds and some grass all growing in the same place and all doing well? well thats because they are compatible and are not competing for the same nutrients, or sunlight. Some plants you can plant on top of each other and all will grow well, some plants protect each other against pests and disease. "Carrots Love Tomatoes" was a great book in the 70's.

  • @fudgedogbannana Most backyard gardens are just mini-farms that will die off after a bit of neglect. I've been looking for information about mixing and matching plants to grow an "edible forest" and introduce edibles to surrounding woodlands, and hopefully to protect against weeds and pests with minimal maintenance. "Carrots Love Tomatoes" looks like a great resource to get started. Do you (or anyone else reading this) know of other similar sources of information?

  • @HitfulVids Wish I can help but its been a while since I read "Carrots love tomatoes", good luck sounds like a fun project.if I run into any info I'll pass it on to you.

  • I really enjoyed this video but was disappointed that water was briefly mentioned. Wouldve been nice to see some hydroponics or aquaponics mixed in there as well.

  • y u guys do so long comment? i dont want read it

  • Saving seeds is very smart, and he had me at the clary sage! :).

  • Why are people going on and fighting over whos magic space-wizard in the sky is better? This isn't even about your bullshit religions or global warming or ANYTHING like that. Why are people so fucking stupid? Why do people feel the need to spread their horse-shit religious views on a video about gardening?! Here's the truth: religion is a lot like a dick; it's great to have one, it's great to be proud of it, but don't try and shove it down my fucking throat. Awesome video by the way.

  • Permaculture is a design system. It is based on deep observation of the landscape. I design backyard food forests. These forests mimic a nature forest, but the plants are carefully selected to provide food, medicine, etc. Once these systems are kicked of a small ecosystem is establishe, and much happens that you don't and shouldn't control. The design has to take into account, the climate, and the microclimate of your garden. The specifics will vary by location.

  • is permaculture really a "design" system?

i understand it more as a "understand nature and let it do its thing" system.

so I would understand any derivative adapted to the backyard as a "design" system, when you don't have that much space to give nature total freedom, but, of course, "control it less" and so win from it.

I wrote that instead of really listening to the video, but I wanted this to be said...my apology in advance if I missunderstood something.

    regards from germany!

  • Do you have a show for nordic countries where winter is on for 6 months a year? With a lot of snow, it seems impossible to have a garden.

  • @Forsure3333, good idea. You might take a look at our show "A Geodesic Garden - Year-Round Gardening at 6000 Feet". Set in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, pretty short season.

We may get up to Alaska...or the opportunity appears. to northern Europe. Anyone know successful short-season growers anywhere, that we might tape?

  • @peakmoment - i've heard of bud-growers doing well in alaska. i'm not sure how sustainable their grow systems r, but it's certainly possible to use a sort of hotbed combination - traditionally that'd be manure dug-in under the soil, and using things like sunken beds. could also have heaters underneath, powered by solarpanels or something similarly sustainable. if wind turbines r ice-proof then they could power gro-lights for dark pediods. not ideal, but if growing during the dark is required,

  • Also check out Sepp Holzer. Google his name and look up the videos about him on Youtube. He has designed permaculture food systems on his land at 3,000 meters in the Austrian Alps. He is a genius at designing cold cllmate high altitude systems.

  • @peakmoment did you guys ever get up to alaska? i live up there and im really wondering how to at least keep plants alive in the winter, but not pay a 300$ a month elec bill.

  • @11335569 Rocks as a heat store will get you some of the way, raised beds full of composting bacteria will get you a little further with exothermic reaction and picking your crops well will also help. If you stick to rhizomes (root veg like carrots), the air in the snow will actually retain warmth in the soil, esp. in combination with the other techniques above. All this stuff is out of books but it all makes sense to me.

  • I'd really like to be self sufficient one day and this video is really helpful.

On my quest to self sufficiency I've discovered this site which is really useful:

    the-goodlife.info

  • this dude is kool

  • I havent seen much waste in my garden, either...even if you have too much rain at the end of the growing season (or bugs get it-however, I leave some plants just for that reason) and your tomatoes and squash get funky-just feed it to the chickens and pigs on your neighbors plot or compost it.

  • We've just taped an update with Scott McGuire for a future program. You can read the highlights on my blog "Meet Scott McGuire, 'maniacal' co-creative gardener" at peakmoment . tv / journal / ?p=162 (remove all the spaces in the url). ~Janaia

  • I'm really tired, but I'm so glad I didn't wait til later to watch this. I love this guy; the whole video was great. I'd like to thank you guys for putting the work forth to bring us all these episodes. Its greatly appreciated.

  • @gravyburns, glad you like it and the Peak Moment episodes. We're on the road taping new shows in the Pacific Northwest, and invite you and all our viewers to sign up for our occasional email newsletter (list never shared) at peakmoment-dot-tv on the right hand side. ~Janaia

  • All these sustainability folks have their fancy gardens and nice pretty videos to show off what they do ...up there in Oregon, Washington State, or Idaho.

How about we see if this kind of thing can be done in Oklahoma? Our June, July, and August months are pure hell. Everyone seems to abandon their "sustainable project" during these hot months.

For crying out loud, the ladies are wearing coats in this video. And look how nice their soil is! Try growing all that in clay!

  • Great video, but WHY do Americans pronounce HERBS as ERBS...arrrgghhh lol.

    H erbs... H erbs...practice with me ppl H H H H H HERBS lol

  • Great ideas and am also curious about how much he was able to produce at harvest. The yard seems huge compared with the typical city lot in Portland, OR. I like the ideas for renters as not everyone can own, such as movable greenhouse. I also would like to see an update on this video. Thank you for posting this!

  • Speaking of medicine Cannabis is a great source for natural medicine thats whats wrong with this country is the close mindedness i remember back when me and my sister went to woodstock back in 69 there was none of the close minded ness maybe im old fashion

  • What an excellent project, and a great down to earth guy, making a difference, starting with his own back yard.

  • AMARANTH!

  • Hey Scott!! Great to see you.. We live in Colorado. Remember us...Vivian and Robert. Beautiful gardens! We will always remember beautiful Ashland. Life here is high and dry. We own 2 natural food stores. Love to Kayla wherever she is. Love, Vivian and Robert

  • Yeah, let's talk about them medicinal herbs;)

  • You obviously are very educated. The self sustainability is the exact reason I started my garden. I am trying this season to feed my self as well as sell the excess for money, thus feeding my self further.

  • Great video Mr McGuire.

I adopt the same principals as well, principals that were in place far before man

    inhabited this planet.

"Going Back" to what has always worked WITHOUT our interference is the only way for long term sustainability.

  • I would love an update to this video on how much the plot yielded. Do you expect and update anytime soon?

  • @csimm48891, I'm pleased to say YES. We're taping programs in the Pacific Northwest this summer-fall (2010), and Scott has agreed to tape an update. He'll have reports on at least four seasons. Should be interesting.

If you want to keep in touch with our plans and behind-the-scenes news, you can subscribe to our email newsletter at peakmoment-dot-tv, right side. List is totally private, of course.

  • @peakmoment

Thank you for replying. I will definitely follow up with info provided.

  • @peakmoment This is my favorite video on YouTube. I definitely enjoy your garden visits more than your sit down interviews, and I'm looking forward to your update with Scott. We've drawn a lot of inspiration from what your friends can do in their yards. Thanks, JD!

  • @JackANDJude, thanks for your glowing praise. Robyn and I have gotten more confident and stretched our video & on-the-spot planning skills, which is why we're doing more "tours" these days like this one.

I know they're the most interesting to watch. Still, I think it's valuable to hear from people who have perspectives on what's going on around us -- the bigger picture of collapse and peak oil -- in which our gardens and neighborhood emergency preparedness will make a huge difference.

  • @csimm48891, the updated show is "Beyond Back Yard Sustainability", Peak Moment episode 178, taped summer 2010.

  • Excellent information. Please let me know if you are open to being interviewed on my radio show.

    balancewealthradio(dot)com

  • There's nothing more healing than connecting with my plants-thanks for the vid!

  • great stuff..

  • I'm fascinated that people are actually going to get sidetracked by debating global warming here. Let's assume it's not real, so you deniers can get past that. Even if it's not happening, doesn't this video STILL make sense? We need to grow food closer to home. We need to reconnect with the land. This is great.

I will be curious to hear how much food he actually produces over a year. Also, can you tell me the size of his plot of land? It looks considerably larger than my little home. :)

  • I'll ask Scott the property size...and we hope to tape a followup show this summer so we learn how well it worked -- to feed his family.

  • Yea the problem is that most of them don't tell you how much they themselves produce. The only one I know is the permaculture guy.

  • @politicoaz

I think peak whatever and global scam is irrelevant here - I like the garden and the way its a long term project. I was making some raspberry jams recently.

  • wow...can't believe plp can b so ignorant & rude 2 a freakin gardenin video..!! i mean who cares bout wat is global warmin & bla bla bla...the way i saw video was tat if u have a bit of land then FREAKIN use it, grow stuff, eat stuff off it & save a bit of $'s & spend it on yr new PS3 or solar panel (WHO CARES). I thgt this video was educational & great share & leave it @ tat...Peace

  • Headlines declare" Freeze destroys most of Florida's tomato crop" meawhile in Europe The Mediterrian ( usually temperate) is literaly under a blizard.Record snow in western hermisphire, europe and asia. Climate change alright. Global cooling maybe

  • LOL...you actually believe the global warming crap!!! Can I interest you in a bridge in New York?? Or maybe some ocean front property in Kansas?? GLOBAL WARMING IS NOT ONLY A HOAX, BUT ALSO A FRAUD!!!

  • There are obvious differences of opinion on Global Climate Change (not Warming - but excess Carbon in the atmosphere, causing ocean acidification and more erratic weather).

The short video "The Most Terrifying Video You'll Ever See" will not persuade you one way or the other about climate change. It will have you look at whether or not humans should take action. It's here on YouTube, zORv8wwiadQ. Let us know what you think.

Watch it and see what you think. It has millions of views.

  • @peakmoment So does Miley Cyrus brushing her teeth. Weak point, man.

You're on the right path, but for some wrong reasons. You could get your message across better by not debating such foolishness. Try these - it's good exercise. It can reduce your food costs. The food is organic (free of pesticides-very important). It uses far less water than inground gardening/farming. There's more. I'll let YOU list them. Antarctic ice isn't on the list of what most people will give a damn about.

  • @gigantopithecus01 you're right that climate change is not the central theme of this video program, but a reply to some comments here. The show itself covers these kinds of reasons you mention for growing food.

  • @gigantopithecus01 Climate change shouldn't have even been brought up. But some people will take a perfectly good idea and politicize it into an early grave, won't they? btw, I believe that a good Aquaponics system minimizes the use of commercial fish feeds, for a variety of reasons. What's your take?

  • SteveD328,

Hoax and Fraud are synonyms. LoL...

Even if you reject global warming it doesnt negate the awesomeness that is this video. Nor, does it negate the fact that the entire solar system is getting hotter because of increased solar activity.

    You need to relax man.

  • @SteveD328 Why is it fraud? If you feel any doubts about what's happening in that big bad world of science, take a look at potholer54's videos. He does a good explanation on the science thats behind this whole issue of climate change in a measured and reasonable series that points to real world facts and the bias of media attention

  • fact or opinion

  • this was top notch

  • Love the vids. I always get new ideas and motivation. L

  • So glad - that's why we do 'em.

  • didn't want to hear about global warming or climate change...whatever you call it know!

  • I know it can be tough hearing about climate change...really taking it in makes you have to look at your life changing in ways you may not like. California state is already planning around changes in snowpack and water levels because of it. The glaciers everywhere are melting faster.

  • maybe you didn't get the memo or (IOU) but California is broke!!!

    global warming is a hoax!!!

  • For sure California is broke. But with the huge agricultural industry, water is critical. So agencies, counties, cities and regions are already working to adapt to the changes.

I think "global warming" is a misnomer: the increased carbon in the atmosphere is destabilizing planetary weather patterns, with stronger storms, floods, temperature fluctuations. Your area may not be noticing it yet, but ours sure is.

  • @PatricksTime Another vacuous commentator of no substance. I see that all you're doing is spreading doubt and rumour among those seeking better answers for their questions.

Why would a climate change denier even spend their time looking up sustainable practice videos on youtube? They are by and large boring and only hold information for those who want it. Who has bought PatricksTime to spend time spreading lies and doubt? I believe you need to take a good hard look at yourself.

  • its the avatar way!

  • I thought it was an autonomous... oh krikee, better rewind....:

    ==========

ARTHUR: Please, please good people. I am in haste. Who lives in that castle?

    WOMAN: No one live there.

ARTHUR: Then who is your lord?

WOMAN: We don't have a lord.

    ARTHUR: What?

DENNIS: I told you. We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week.

    ==========

Ahh "anarcho-syndicalist commune" that's right.... my bad.

  • the zionist controlled governments dont want to make people self dependent but when shit hits the fan no food in supermarkets trucks will be looted on highways so no trucking only this way to grow ur own food is the way to survive thanks.

  • Zionist, Babylonian, Roman, English whatever - it's just all Newspeak for this:

Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Ba'al

    --The Who

Ba'al - a Hebrew word owner master lord possessor.... you get the idea.

    Thus:

"TO SECURE THESE RIGHTS, governments are instituted among gardeners."

  • [only this way to grow ur own food is the way to survive thanks.]

"This way" plus the odd well armed local militia to keep unwanted pests out of the tomato orchard...

All vegetables with no lead, thunder-sticks, and cooperative neighbors makes Munnabhai33 a starving / vanishing gardner... not a well fed one.

  • Thanks for sharing this video! I enjoy all of them so much...consider me a regular!

  • Glad you're enjoying the shows. Feel free to subscribe. Or stay in touch (especially behind-the-scenes news) via our email newsletter on the peakmoment (dot) tv website. We're planning to tape shows in the Pacific Northwest in 2010 and always interested in good projects/people to tape.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video! A lot of people just take for granted where there food comes from and we don't realize how unsustainable our current way of life really is.Thank you for posting this great video!

  • Wow, if youdidnt come here to watch a video about sustainable gardening, then what are you ppl here for? Too read religious insanity into everything that is said or to just pick it apart and argue? U sat thru nearly 30min to argue? DAMN.

  • Ever notice the Roman Catholic Empre never has any public gardens attached to the local fortre... err "Sanctuary".

Why is that? It's not like they don't have enough land...

  • great video. I liked the part on the covers and I am like the guy just collecting every seed I can find. See ya and keep in on topic please thx.

  • Lol, the mistake of countless generations, arguing about a fairytale. Whatever keeps you occupied...

  • WTF are you people talking about?

This is not a video about religious fanatics it a fucking garden.

  • @terrorizer805

    I agree....

  • ARTHUR: How do you do, good lady. I am Arthur, King of the Britons. Who's castle is that?

    WOMAN: King of the who?

    ARTHUR: The Britons.

    WOMAN: Who are the Britons?

ARTHUR: Well, we all are. we're all Britons and I am your king.

WOMAN: I didn't know we had a king. I thought we were an autonomous collective. DENNIS: You're fooling yourself. We're living in a dictatorship

    ====

King, Kaiser, Tsar, Caesar, Pope, Pharaoh- all NewSpeak for "god-emperor"... his land - his garden?

  • Within any urban area are vacant lots. Why can't we take those back? The book Farm City tells about one woman who did it. It may take a risk, if it confiscated but I think it's a risk worth taking.

  • With 50% of the world's population living in urban areas, who has yards this big?

  • >>who has yards this big?

    Two words - "Container Garden".

"COMMERCE BETWEEN MASTER AND SLAVE IS DESPOTISM"

    --Thomas Jefferson

    Kurtz: Are you an assassin?

    Willard: I'm a soldier

Kurtz: You're neither. You're an errand boy, sent by GROCERY CLERKS to collect a bill.

    Gardeners don't need no stinking grocery clerks. ;-}

  • Lots of good ideas. Caring for each other and the resources that sustain us is a sound, conservative, ideal.

Imagine larger community gardens - folks working cooperatively for the mutual benefit of all....

Think of it as the American Heartland -scaled-down, more intimate, and long-term sustainable.

    "Love thy neighbor..."

  • Too bad the AGW farce distracts and discredits legitimate efforts such as this one...

  • some nice comments....good luck

  • He has some good ideas. I like the idea of low tunnels to grow vegetables in the winter more than a greenhouse. Low tunnels aka quick hoops are cheaper and work even in Maine. For more info: google mother earth news low tunnels.

  • Part 2.

Most people don't know this, but the Haber process produces so much ammonia that it sustains 1/3 of the human population. That's right, if we completely got rid of it, 2,000,000,000 people would die.

Nitrogen fixation by natural systems is great, but it can no longer sustain our large population.

On the other hand, our careless use of fertilizer has caused eutrophication that leads to massive die-offs in marine environments.

Despite a few inaccuracies, this project is a good idea.

  • Part 1.

22:59 Natural gas isn't actually necessary for the production of ammonia (for nitrogen fertilizers). The Haber process is most commonly used for this, and it requires only H2 and N2. H2 can be extracted from water using electrolysis, using electricity gained by sustainable means. This isn't done because it's not economic at this point.

  • hwhat? i'm growing hwheat

  • I'll answer your comment with a question. When is an elevator full? Is it when there is no room left, or in your case, all the floor space is equitable shared? Or is it full, when the cables and motors that it relies on, start to fail? We're 90 floors up, putting more people on at every stop. Am'I the only one that smells smoke and hears cables groaning? We cannot piss upon the earth, faster than mother nature can purify it back into drinking water.

  • Population control? Do you know that all humans can have a significant piece of land and it would come to the size of a little less than Australia. Actually there is a big chunk of Australia that's left. And also...The rest of the WORLD! So its not population control we need... its land control. We need more SHEARING! That means you don't see others as competition, but as one self that also has the right to live the dream here floating in space. >>> PEACE,COMPASSION,LOVE Lets ALL GROW FOOD!! ;O)

  • "We need more SHEARING! "

Shearing? No - Sharing, yes. Plenty of shearing going on upon the backs of the sheeple/slaves.

The simple self-evident solution to excess C02 (if there even IS excess C02) is to grow more beneficial plants that will NATURALY convert the C02 into food and Oxygen.

Instead, what we've got is the AGW control-freak far$e - with iGore & Co. in position to make billions from Carbon Credits.

COMMERCE BETWEEN MASTER AND SLAVE IS DESPOTISM

    --Thomas Jefferson

  • The word and concept of "Sustainability" is hollow and empty without a population control component.

  • amen

  • Yeah but where would the (un)Holy Roman Catholic Empire be without a base of ignorance and poverty to sustain it?

"I HAVE SWORN UPON THE ALTAR OF GOD ETERNAL HOSTILITY TO EVERY FORM OF TYRANNY OVER THE MIND OF MAN"

    --Thomas Jefferson

  • >>and poverty to sustain it?

Hmm, maybe "and poverty to PROP IT UP" would be a better choice of words.

  • Satan be gone in the name of Jesus Christ. You want to attack Catholicism when Christ created it? You are nothing but a devil. Go home and repent lest you be damned for all eternity. Christ created Catholicsm. He gave the keys to peter and the promise of the Holy Spirit always. You are not of God when you attack Him. Don't attack a the whole Church for a few dummies.

  • >>You want to attack Catholicism

    >>when Christ created it?

Lol. Emperor Constantine's syncretist Ishtar/Isis/Oster/Easter/Mary mother goddess worshiping un-Holy Roman Empire is what it is.

The Individual's relationship with their creator was restored DIRECTLY by Christ - not by a bunch of hierarchically organized eunuch parasites selling purgatory candles.

The Whore of Babylon lives on in infamy... and in commercials on late night TV.

    Yes - Satan be gone!

  • The problem I have here with you is you don't know what Catholicism teaches and yet you are speaking as if you do. Read the bible. You will see that it was in existence long before constantine. But then again, maybe you think Christ is a liar. I apologize about being harsh but I tell you this, repent now, and be baptized, or you will find yourself on the end of God's punishment.

  • >>The problem I have

Is that you've been listening to eunuchs wearing silly Ity Bity hats.

    >>Read the bible.

Thanks to Martin Luther - we can.

    >>maybe you think Christ is a liar

No, I think you're the liar.

How those purgatory candle sales working out for you these days?

Now take your candles, indulgences, TV commercials - and stuff em where Ra, your sun-god, don't shine.

  • Did Martin Luther give us the bible? And in what year? And wha tpurgatory candles are you talking about? I have never heard of one, and I would like to think I know a lot about my catholic faith.

And btw, who is Ra? We worship Jesus Christ. Maybe its you who is worshiping Ra?

  • We have a problem, you aren't providing any proof for your claims, and yet you are degrading the Universal Faith. As in the faith that all true believers are supposed to have. And in tv commercials, are you refering to prop 8 in Calif.?

If you think Luther can lead you to heaven, but I won't follow a man who broke his vows and formed his own, just so he could sleep with a catherine nun.

Its not founded on Christ. The Catholic Church is.

  • >>We have a problem,

    No, YOU have the problem.

    Indulgence much?

  • Don't be dumb and lump all catholics as being evil or ignorant. Because I can lump your church the same simply because you are a member of it. Don't go to gardening videos just to rant against Catholicism. It is very idiotic to do so. Have a nice day.

  • @sam52191

    Catholicism:

Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Ba'al

    --The Who?

  • >> I can lump your church the

    >>same simply because you are a member of it.

My "Church" is the body of all believers in Christ - THAT is the true catholic (universal) Church - not the Roman Whore of Babylon.

  • And what "church" is that? What year was it founded? Can you be a true catholic if you are attacking the Catholic Church?

  • No what you are refering to is not just one Church. It is 40,000 different ones. Not one like Christ prayed for. So I'll ask again, what church as in the one you attend on sunday do you attend?

  • catholic:

1.Of broad or liberal scope; comprehensive: "The 100-odd pages of formulas and constants are surely the most catholic to be found" (Scientific American).

2.Including or concerning all humankind; universal: "what was of catholic rather gthan national interest" (J.A. Froude).

    =================

    catholic, universal - See?

  • I know the definition of Catholic. Which is why I am a member of the Catholic Church. I was questioning whether you did. Its obvious that you are protesting the Catholic Church. Which means that you are not a catholic like you like to claim. Just be honest and call urself protestant.

  • 1500 years? simple centralized power structure which generated cash by blackmailing kings and threatening peasants with hell if they do not cough up cash . it is a govt taxation system with out a country, which generates far more cash then it doles out . brillent! standard christanity has been around since day one (a 1 on 1 with christ with no middle man or forced annual fee) . i personally don't call that protestant but some do .

  • Really nice video. Good information. i really believe sustainability is one of the doors the humans have to become friendly with the planet. Kids should learn this like this in school instead of other things. I have my own little project going and this video inspired me to keep on going....pura vida!!!

  • Very inspirational and informative video, thanks for uploading this.

  • way to much HIPPIE rhetoric, but a good video despite the rhetoric.

  • This is indeed an inspiration. I'm working with much less space, in suburban Tucson, but I still think I can do this !

Excellent stuff peak moments thanks !

  • you're an inspiration

  • peakmoment, I must say this a great video, thanks for posting.

Oat meal is so easy to grow, we grow ours at the edges of the field where other crops grow.

It is better to grow all the Old types of veg and fruit and as many types as possible.

Natural balance is the Key.Nature knows how to balance itself, takes about 2-3 years to get a true balance so patience is needed, but its well worth it! You can plant trees like Lyme, for the aphids, then they leave your crops alone!

  • interesting point about seed saving. after watching food, inc., i now realize that companies like monsanto are patenting their seeds and making it illegal to do "seed saving." they send out their own investigators to try to find anyone saving their seeds. and even if you are not growing seeds from them, but a neighbor does and their GMO plants contaminate your crops, you are the breaking the law if you save your own seed! this is a huge threat.

  • salemnj1, yeah this is disgusting isnt it? The best thing for all of us to do is to refuse to buy produce from shops who sell GMO contaminated crops. Say NO! to GMO. Stop them from growing GMO crops near our land! Its that simple! Dont trade with any farmers who deal in GMO! Simple and spread the word! We must stand as one against this disgusting GMO contaminated crops. They are also full of pesticides that cause sterility and alsorts of dreadful illnesses.!!!!

  • Yeah... I won't buy ANYTHING that is a product of the Soy industry, since Monsanto basically sells almost all soybean crops produced are from Monsanto's evil GMO supply. And I don't use RoundUp. I won't even buy a candle made with Soy. It all ties back to revenues to that monster.

  • It isn't us that needs to say NO, it's the farmer who is trying to make money that believes all the bullshit that companies like Monsanto spew.

  • you are right! I live in Nebraska, an AG state, and I have been yelling about GM foods, and the patenting of seeds by Monsanto, and how they would love to monopolize our food supply, and quash movements like the ones on this video. They've already patented many non-GM seeds, but no one seems to know about it! Keep yelling, and maybe we can get the word out. Otherwise we will wake one day to find we must pay Monsanto before we can grow a home garden.

  • 2012 will kill billions of us with huge tzunamies the movie to come out called 2012 is being postponed for september or November not to scare the hell out of billions. Watch this video people and lets get to gether to see where we could go to survive we need caves and boats and food and medicines planing. Any ideas?

  • OMG that is a lovely garden and a handsome man too. Single?

  • haha i know. totally swoon inducing.

  • Scott's married and a wonderful father of two.

  • i will bet you're a great landscaper. i had a dog who charged me an arm and a leg and i redid everything, and ended up putting in a backyard orchard , high density garden, drip and xeriscape and japanese garden suffused with fruit trees, strawberries, and other edible/ornamentals and herbs. great job.

  • Great interview, one of your best Jan

  • i'm still learning about permaculture but i do not believe his perception about permaculture is correct - where he says it's for homeowners and its all about planting trees.

I think that it's a copyrighted term and he can't use it because he hasnt taken the certification course.

  • Actually, I believe he is a Certified Permaculture Designer, AND dusty, I totally GET what your saying. Permaculture is more than the simple 1 sentence answer in this interview. Here's from a Wiki:

"...permaculture has become both a design system and a loosely defined philosophy or lifestyle ethic."
