  • Raines skated a series here with the Texas Outlaws against the Bombers around 1968 or so- his speed-skating skills made him a completely different cat...

  • any one have film on ronnie rains speed skateing raceing round the tack to beet the score clock even when he skated on the bombers back in the 50's earlys 60's rains was a very fast speed skakes cant seem to find any film footage of him race arong the track very fast even to score have any one ever seen this man before the sycho name got put on him when he was speedy

  • I seem to remember Ronnie as a TX Outlaw before he came over to the T-Birds. I was little but we went to a lot of games and I kinda had a crush on him:-)

  • Why is this silent footage when actual game tape exists? Not only that, the quality blows so maybe I'll put up a clip for the Rains fans if they want.

  • I always thought Rains was the spiritual predecessor of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

I see Danny Reilly is also present. Was Dick Lane doing any Whoa Nellying as late as 1978?

  • Notice the All-Stars were wearing the legendary IRDL SF Bay Bomber "paneled" style jerseys circa 68 & 69 seasons, a design later used (with different colours, of course) for my beloved Cincinnati Jolters (with the 0-10 range) starting in '71. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the Texas Outlaws briefly wearing the Calvello-era IRDL MW Pioneers unis around that time?

  • Yes, I remember them wearing the Pioneers uniforms but only for a short time.

  • It is hard to believe that Ronnie was only a T-Bird for 7 years. (I'm guessing he skated elsewhere before he landed with the Birds.) Frankly, the T-Birds were never the same after he left on the track or at the gate. If he had been in his prime today co-ed teams would be relevant because nobody EVER replaced the Psycho!

  • As far as I know, he started out with the T-Birds and went on to skate for other teams and in other countries for Roller Games. He also spent some time here on the East Coast with a couple of teams in the early '70's. I remember him well, as he skated redshirt here as coach of the NY Bombers with Judy Sowinski as his Captain against the Eastern Warriors with Buddy Atkinson, Jr. and a host of very tallented skaters. He played the bad guy here, but I appreciated his talents just the same.

  • ronnie was a heel with the Bombers FOR years!!!! He is a heel in kansas City Bomber with Raquel Welch.

He did a nazi gimmick, where he wore this war helmet and whenever he jammed with it he was unstoppable.

  • This video is AWESOME ! Psycho was the Michael Jordon of Roller Games !!!!!!!
