I'm not even a fan of the DMC series (never played any of the games) and I can tell they messed up pretty badly. You have to screw up something terrible to get me to notice how wrong you are without even being familiar with the subject matter.

you know what the sad part of this is? if this game was a new ip i would consider playing it, but no you had to slap on DMC on the title. now ninja theory has to live up to the DMC standards instead of being judged solely as a new ip. and then they have the balls to make fun of the fans.
this is a classic example of japanese developers giving their ip to western developers. they try to satisfy the east and the west but end up satisfying no one.
The ORGINIAL Dante's design, as Tony Redgrave back when it was inbetween being RE4 and DMC, had suspenders, I think. But I guess at that time he was more of a cop/private detective and less freelance bounty hunter.
Revisiting that concept might be a cool reboot. DMC meets LA Noir. Only, less trying to figure out who's lying and more demon slaying.

I am looking forward to the game. Yeah I can understand everyones hate for Dante, but that doesn't mean the game will suck. It might be interesting and fun. Hopefully more story driven cause the other games sucked for story. Ninja Theory has had 2 great games so far. So there is no reason to hate them other than what they did to Dante's look. Like linkanonz said, it's Capcom getting the final say in it. So it's still Capcom making the game pretty much.
Well if you're a fan of NT, then it doesn't mater what anyone says. IMO the only game that was good NT made was Heavenly Sword, and knowing that they're taking bits and pieces from other games they trashed and movies, hardly screams originality. The hate stems from their comments and how they're treating the fanbase. At this point it's not about the game. But I have done updates on this issue saying people need to get over the hair at this point.
Yeah I wish more people would just worry about the game and story. So far, no one knows if it's fun or interesting. And just because some people may have hated Enslaved/Heavenly Sword, doesn't mean it will still be as bad to them. The only people who really hate on Ninja Theory is DmC fans.
Devil May Cry was never that original to begin with. Dante is like a mixture of a bunch of things that seem bad ass from other movies, and transition it into what we know as Dante.
Actually, more Gamers hate NT than just DMC fans. Many weren't happy with Enslaved and NT's comments towards it going multiplat, about blaming Sony fans for not supporting Heavenly Sword more pissed many off. Enslaved sold less than Heavenly Sword and it was on 2 consoles, as opposed to only PS3. People don't like NT because of their comments overall, without any standout AAA games to back their talk up.
I really think it's the marketing for Enslaved, cause I heard alot more about Heavenly Sword, and the only reason I know about Enslaved is caused I've found it on Xbox Live and looked it up online, and played the demo. I remember when Heavenly Sword was the "new" God of War everyone said. So it had alot of publicity. Enslaved may have been mentioned more than I know of, but really don't hear anything about it, but got the same reviews and ratings as Heavenly Sword.
I can now understand peoples hate for Ninja Theory. They did pretty much say they only care about gaining a new fan base, and not making a game for the old fans. A spit in the face to them. I am still liking the gameplay though. Some people hate that it's 30 fps, but I think they could make it work. They've had 3 games made for experience towards the new game. I really don't agree with their sense of "cool", but I just hope it is fun. Try to not think of it as a Devil May Cry game

A remake of Little Nicky? The combat looks good, I don't care much for graphics but its the story that gets me. We don't need another prequel, we have DMC3 for it and the background story has already been told more than once. What I like is for the game to move forward not back.
Actually Devil May Cry 3 didn't do much with being a prequel. It was just another game at a younger age. Nothing more. Virgil and him battled. Big whoop. Nothing interesting about that. Didn't have any back story to the whole thing. So they dropped the ball with that game. I can agree, being half angel is one thing, but they said he had angel powers. Don't think they said he was half angel. At least that is what I read. You are entitled to your opinion. I don't like that either
@jgoth08 Actually they did more with the 3rd game. In the first, All we knew was that he lost his mother and brother. How? Shows in DMC3. How he got his DT, DMC3 showed it. And he learned to actually care about what was going to happen. The reason why they didn't show much else was because it was already said in the graphic novels. And for those that haven't read them to make it up on their own. And it is official information that NT confirmed that dante is half angel from his mother's blood.
More than what Devil May Cry 1 and 2 told us. But isn't wasn't much to do with back story. You learn like a couple of things during 3. You learn a few in 1. Now here is the deal, Devil May Cry 1-3 should have been 1 game. Cause there was no need for 3 or 1 by itself. Making a sequel to tell us, hey he had a brother and he is Nelo Angelo. @jgoth08 As I said, there really is no need for another prequel. It ruins the surprise that could be revealed later on in the story. Look at the many favorite characters in video games, they didn't need a back story, that was left to the imagination to the player. Cloud didn't need one, either did Link, why should Dante be in a different into having his entire history laid out before us when we can just think it up on our own?

Why go backwards when there's a lot to tell for future games. Like what happened to Vergil after DMC1? Whatever became of Dante at the end of DMC2? We want to know that not more of his past. Do we need to keep going backwards until we're playing as Dante as a baby?
@LordKamina2 I understand that people hated DMC2 because of how it was. But either way, let's keep the story flowing forward not backwards. Plus Capcom still has two other characters to play with (as long as they don't fuck it up) to either fill up the missing holes or keep going. Vergil is still a mystery, is he even still alive? What about Nero? There's still plenty of things Capcom can do for DMC, as long as they keep that arrogant SOB TamTam and NT away from it.

You're telling people to get over it, but you're here complaining about others complaining. And the original creator of DMC saw these videos and liked them, even mentioned me on his twitter. Hey, you got aggressive at first so I responded appropriately. As for Kamiya, I think he has people that translates it for him. I showed the twitter feed on last weeks show titled (Transformers MMO) Someone sent it to him and he responded towards it, when he didn't have to say or watch anything at all.
@EventStatus Kamiya is well known for responding to literally everything on his Twitter feed, even if it's just a one word response. I could just call him a slaphead and he'd still respond with something.

I think if this fails, this will hurt their reputation and it'll be harder for them to work on any other projects. Enslaved didn't do well at all and now the way they're going about DMC, it's another nail in the coffin. I think fans will be blamed for lack of DMC sales.

I see Nero as a sidekick character, the guy who is somewhat cool but never has the best scenes. Dante will always win, hands down. But putting that aside, DMC4 was still really good, it more than made up for the Nero scenes when you get to playing Dante

Yes, they said they were going to ignore gamer complaints about online DRM. Gamers were so upset at Capcoms statements they got together and complained more. Capcom buckled to gamers pressure and lifted the DRM on SF IV PC.

Metroid: Other M was developed by Tecmo's Team Ninja after Itagaki left the company, and it was directed by the same guy who directed Super Metroid and others, Yoshio Sakamoto.
That new Dante will not last long. They were better off making this game and putting a different title on it. To try and add this to an already existing storyline, which needs more answers. I felt it was a dumb move capcom.

@jgoth08 I actually do worry more of the story. From what I've heard, dante goes from human/demon to angel/demon. >.> Why in the hell would they change his mother to an angel? A remake of Little Nicky? The combat looks good, I don't care much for graphics but its the story that gets me. We don't need another prequel, we have DMC3 for it and the background story has already been told more than once. What I like is for the game to move forward not back.

Actually Devil May Cry 3 didn't do much with being a prequel. It was just another game at a younger age. Nothing more. Virgil and him battled. Big whoop. Nothing interesting about that. Didn't have any back story to the whole thing. So they dropped the ball with that game. I can agree, being half angel is one thing, but they said he had angel powers. Don't think they said he was half angel. At least that is what I read. You are entitled to your opinion. I don't like that either

@jgoth08 Actually they did more with the 3rd game. In the first, All we knew was that he lost his mother and brother. How? Shows in DMC3. How he got his DT, DMC3 showed it. And he learned to actually care about what was going to happen. The reason why they didn't show much else was because it was already said in the graphic novels. And for those that haven't read them to make it up on their own. And it is official information that NT confirmed that dante is half angel from his mother's blood.

@jgoth08 As I said, there really is no need for another prequel. It ruins the surprise that could be revealed later on in the story. Look at the many favorite characters in video games, they didn't need a back story, that was left to the imagination to the player. Cloud didn't need one, either did Link, why should Dante be in a different into having his entire history laid out before us when we can just think it up on our own?

Why go backwards when there's a lot to tell for future games. Like what happened to Vergil after DMC1? Whatever became of Dante at the end of DMC2? We want to know that not more of his past. Do we need to keep going backwards until we're playing as Dante as a baby?

Plus Capcom still has two other characters to play with (as long as they don't fuck it up) to either fill up the missing holes or keep going. Vergil is still a mystery, is he even still alive? What about Nero? There's still plenty of things Capcom can do for DMC, as long as they keep that arrogant SOB TamTam and NT away from it.

I think if this fails, this will hurt their reputation and it'll be harder for them to work on any other projects. Enslaved didn't do well at all and now the way they're going about DMC, it's another nail in the coffin. I think fans will be blamed for lack of DMC sales.

I see Nero as a sidekick character, the guy who is somewhat cool but never has the best scenes. Dante will always win, hands down. But putting that aside, DMC4 was still really good, it more than made up for the Nero scenes when you get to playing Dante

@bkkapo93g The only thing they've fucked up is Devil May Cry. No Metroid, no etc. Their only other games are Heavenly Sword and Enslaved.
Metroid: Other M was developed by Tecmo's Team Ninja after Itagaki left the company, and it was directed by the same guy who directed Super Metroid and others, Yoshio Sakamoto.

That new Dante will not last long. They were better off making this game and putting a different title on it. To try and add this to an already existing storyline, which needs more answers. I felt it was a dumb move capcom.

what i think is that they should have a age change much like fallout 3
2 years later he has pale hair and then he gets his cloths but i dont like his nose im sorry but thats what made dante and unless he got shot and got surgery a nose cnt change from flat to his orginal kinda pointy look

You have a point, people send me links that the video was shown on certain forums an they only identify me as "the black guy." Ninja Theory is are becoming scared to show what the game looks like. They're saying now it may not show up at E3. I'm sure it will and I have proof, so I will be talking about DMC on friday.

The reboot travesty seemed to go quiet for so long, I was kinda hoping due to all the negative feedback meant the whole thing got canned (That news'l be good news)
And you were spot on when talking bout the CHARACTER of Dante.
Jeez, there was SO much potential left in the original's storyline ---> What (if any) was Vergil's connection to Nero an were we gona see him again?.. Man, they coulda given us a DMC'Zero' featuring Spard
