  • Thanks, but I'm using HUMBROL!

  • Question: can you thin putty? And if so, how do u do it?? Thanks and this is for anyone to answer!!

  • @coladito1 See the comment from notjustadog in the comment section.. :)

  • @notjustadog Great idea, I will try and remember to give it a go next time I build a model that needs filler.. my latest effort, the Italeri 1/72 Stuka D-5 / 8 needed NO filler at all, nor does my current project, a 1/35 Tamiya Bren Carrier.. or at least no filler needed so far!! :) I hope it stays that way.. :)

  • what exactly is filler used for?

  • @purgatory47 Filling gaps and holes.. :)

  • @Miisterkato Jag vet inte var du kan kopa spackel i Sverige, men om du har en hobbyaffar i narheten av dar du bor sa har de kanske.. annars kan du alltid prova 'Hannants' via internet.. :)

  • what putty do you prefer and which one is better?

  • @airfixman1234 I like the Squadron White putty, it's a 'fine' putty and easy to sand down.. :)

  • @BasicModelling So when are you going to do the other tutorial for the other putty? (and don't forget the sanding)

  • @airfixman1234 I will make a tutorial of the other putty as soon as I have found a need to use it again.. and as for the sanding video, I have filmed all the neccessary footage, I just haven't had a chance to edit it all together yet! It's certainly not forgotten.. :)

  • Yay, I used Tipp-ex and it works better then my Revell Plasto (sort of filler).

Because Revell plasto contains a sort of sand, and it is not easy to use, typp-ex looks like a sort of paint and it got a brush!

And it is cheap, so... We don't need longer expensive model stuff :D

  • @BerndenLivien I never got on well with the Revell filler.. :P

  • @BasicModelling yh im 14 and i used it like 5 times and the metal tube split :(

  • How many paints do you have and, are all of them used?

  • @MilitaryAircraft101 More paints than I need, and yes, I use them when I have to.. :)

  • That is very interesting - 556 views already. I assume you have had another desk clear-up - by the cleanness of it!!

  • @2002And I try and keep it clear as I go along now.. :):)

  • A good Video for beginner and good idea a big thumbs up :)

  • @pik93 Well, my videos are mainly aimed at the beginners, and any more skilled modellers who may have missed this technique.. :) No need to make videos teaching the pro's, as they already know everything.. :)

Or so they like to think.. :) :) I'm still learning.. trying to remember all the various things I hear and see at the clubmeetings and in magazines.. :) It's not easy..

  • @BasicModelling I hear that, the times I've built a model and look at it at the end and thought I could have done that or I've missed something, I'm always learning :)

  • @pik93 To me it's a slow process, but my main 'dowbfall'; is that I have nowhere where I can use an airbrush.. :P If I could, my models would be quite a lot better as I could use the various post- and preshading techniques I now never get a chance to practise.. :)

  • @BasicModelling mate if your getting great results by using a brush stick to the brush I say, and never say never mate who knows what's around the corner :)

  • @pik93 A lottery win, hopefully.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Me frist please :)

  • @pik93 Ha ha ha ha,, hopefully both.. :)

  • @BasicModelling

    You are most certainly mistaken.....:-)

  • @zZthefishZz That's allright then.. :)

  • Thanks for coaching))

  • @outoftheboxmodels No problem, if I can show a video of how to do things, then I will.. :) :)

  • To late, I'm dizzy :D

  • @trainfart I know.. my videos make people feel like that.. :)

  • @BasicModelling No, sure not that, it was the filler :)

I read your warning after I have sniff i litlle bit, sorry :p

  • @trainfart Just go careful.. :)

  • my model filler keep going hard even with the lid on is they any way to unblock it or make it soft again. also what is the best way of stroeing one model filler

  • @CrazyKitBuilder What filler do you use?? Not quite sure what you mean by 'stroeing'.. :)

  • @BasicModelling

Thanks went to get some of this filler today

    Great stuff....:-)

& once again great video :-)

  • @zZthefishZz Glad to hear it.. :) :) Now, are you who I think you are or am I mistaken?? :)

  • Great video I was in a hurray ()mistake #1) and used a plummers glue (mistake #2) to fill a gap I had made and as I applied it to the parts they started melting.

Lessons learned use only model craft filler!

The A-10 is looking great, the 107th fighter wing is stationed near my home and they fly the A-10s. We had F-16s stationed here before they moved the A-10s in. I miss the sound of the afterburners the A-10s are so quite I never even know when they are flying just 2 miles down the road.

  • @MisplacedTexan4 Well, I try and be patient but sometimes it is very easy to get in a rush to finsih something.. My A-10 is on it's 9th day now, I hope to get it done over the weekend. I have the bombs and missiles to work on now, and need to finish the (resin) seat and hopefully do some more etched stuff around the canopy frames and in the cock-pit! I'm leaving that 'til last, to avoid mishaps when I handle it.. Then I will treat myself to an EASY & QUICK Spitfire build, Airfix out the box.. :)

  • Bought a pack of popsicle sticks for nothing the other day..and finding that they do help as spatulas....plus, so cheap they can be tossed. A pack holds...jeez...at least fifty.

  • @sclogse1 Great idea... especially as you can bin them after use.. :) I need to replace some of my spatulas now, as I find there's a gradual build up of filler residue even if you wipe them clean each time.. :)

  • I have Revell filler but i dont have spatulas :(

so my first filler try fails...

  • @BerndenLivien I strongly recommend the use of spatu;as, as it allows you a more even spread, and it also keeps your fingers clean.. :)

  • thank you rob!

    greetings

  • @CapLAGOS You're welcome.. :)

  • I use revell filler. it dries very quick (which is annoying) and sands easily! i tried masking method but when i pill it off, it pulls off the filler :( i recently started mixing filler with acetone nail polish remover to make it spreadable! :D

  • @AdrianNtart I tried Revell filler but didn't get on with it.. then somebody told me about the Squadron filler and I've been ok ever since.. :)

  • Cool tips..gonna need it for my B-58 Hustler...also you wouldn't have any extra cowls for a 1/48th scale ME 262(old 1987 Revell kit). I tried going through Revell but they could not help cuz of the age of the kit.

  • @atomicdog32 Sorry, no.. I'm fresh out of Me 262 cowls for the 1987 kit right now.. :) Seriously though, they probably won't be easy to come by, if even Revell themselves can't help you! I'm trying to think if anyone else has re-boxed that kit since, but at the moment nothing comes to mind.. I hope you can find what you need..

  • I am having some real trouble brush painting my medium sized parts. The paint always comes out blotchy and uneven. Help! I use model master acrylics.

  • @TheAsharedhett I have never used Model Master acrylics, but as with any paint I would imagine it needs a very good stir and shake.. and stir again.. before painting!! It also depends on what colours you try to paint, as white, yellow, orange and sometimes red can be quite difficult to apply evenly.. :P

  • Does that stuff work when you stab yourself with a chisel? I have done it twice this week as I forgot to arrange adult supervision and therefore need to reconstruct my fingers. Actually at my age it is hard to find a grown up who is more grown upper.

  • @MrRandomWritings I think that was the original use of superglue, actually.. for surgical purposes!! So perhaps you should give that a try.. or are you just trying to impress Lesley with your finely chiselled features?? :) :) Anyway, I'm glad you commented as it filled out a space in my comment section.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Funny you should say that because I did get superglued and it works as a preventative too! I mean when your fingers are stuck together you can't hold dangerous tools!

  • What is the title of this song?

I really like the videos thanks for uploading!

    Regards,

    Antal

  • @kippenlijntje I can't remember quite.. but you'll find more music of the same style and others on the audionautix youtube channel.. you can download it from his website! :)

  • a10 thunderbolt or warthog

    or just a other plane

  • @wolt96 Yes, that is correct .. :)

  • Once upon a long long time ago, I used to build gliders from balsawood and paper, but haven't done so for many many years. That's probably the closest I've got to anything remotely remote controlled.. :) I was tempted to start building, or at least buy a near ready made kit, and to fly a RC aircraft, as you could do so at the old WWII airfield around the corner.. but around that time it swapped owners and the new owner is not keen at all on such activities.. :( So it came to nothing..

  • I use Squadron white as well. On armor, the majority of my areas are from knockout pin marks. I do have the occasional seam to fill as well. I don't use a spatula specifically for putty, the end of my #11 blade is sufficient. For emphasizing a raised weld, I will use masking tape, on either side, to build up the material like a weld.

  • @Blargaldalien What a briliant idea.. Thanks for that, I will certainly bear that in mind if the need should arise... :) :)

  • nice vid, glad you posted this before I started filling in the gaps on my hms warspite :)

  • @GamingLeeLee Glad to be of help.. :)

  • could i use an epoxy like JB-weld and sand it off after? i would think it has the same effect but im not sure, i have used it on a seam on a gunstock, but on scale models, it may have a different effect lol

  • @WaSSupYo8o8 All I can say is to try it somewhere on the model, where it won't show, in case it doesn't work, or melts the plastic.. or something.. :)

  • nice tutorial :)

  • @888HamilkarBarkas888 Thank you.. :)

  • nice aircraft you're building... ;)

what paint scheme did you choose?

  • @svinehunden I went with the 3-tone camo.. as that was the only option with the kit!! But just for once I wish I had chosen a grey aircraft... :) :)

  • is Tamiya filler any good??

  • @SuperSuperspore I wouldn't know as I have never used it.. but Tamiya generally make good quality stuff that's easy to use.. :)

  • @SuperSuperspore I use the Tamiya Basic putty that comes in a tube - and only that. It dries quick, sands prefectly, and is easy to work with. I recommend it!

  • Awesome vid bro & awesome tip!! Will this also work for bondo? Thank you for sharing bro & keep up the great work. I'm still working on my second contest entry, having problems with it, but it'll be done before the deadline, peace!!!

  • @cwazmann1 Not sure how it will work with bondo, but give it a try.. Just make sure you do it where it won't show, in case it shouldn't work out as well! :) I hope your second entry goes well, I can alsways extend the deadline if need be.. :)

  • thanks, i use the exact same kind of filler! this vid was super helpful!

  • @HeartGoldMVP Glad to hear it.. :) :)

  • Funny how it looks like an ME-262 at 2:38 !!

I love the idea of using the masking tape, which I've seen you have done for quite a while! I myself haven't really had the pleasure to need it - yet..

The putty I use is the Tamiya Basic type, by the way.. Works great! :)

  • @myhuxpo Never used the Tamiya filler myself, but I would imagine it to be good.. probably expensive too?? :) Maybe you could answer 'supersuperspore' above, as he asked me about the Tamiya filler.. That would be appreciated.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Well, models for sale has it for 2.50 quids, so not expensive at all! Answered supersuperspore too ;)

  • @myhuxpo Yes, I saw that.. :) Thank you.. I think the Tamiya Putty is cheaper than Squadron, in that case.. I was just going by the price of their masking tape, which is quite expensive these days.. expecting the filler to be dear too.. :)

  • excelent tutorial :)

  • @joelalcantar69 Thankk you very much.. :)

  • my favourite plane :D

  • @JNstudios1 The P-40?? :) :)

  • @BasicModelling a-10

  • Hi there!

Hope you're well. When you get a chance go check out my new vids, you'll probably enjoy the new one on the wildstar1 channel too.:)

Take care, have a great weekend.

  • @savingtails I will do, soon as.. I'm behind with everything, and my competition won't make things any better. But I will!! You're not forgotten... :) :)

  • Great video!! How much does the filler cost - is it expensive ??

    Thanks

  • @zZthefishZz This filler is quite cheap, about £2 - 3.. or so.. and it lasts a long time as long as you screw the cap on properly after each use.. :)

  • Cool tip on using masking tape, never thought of that before:)whats this filler that makes you dizzy then!!!lol.keep on building, stay safe & behave!!!peace!

  • @NineInchRear1 It contains some sort of solution, can't think of the name right now.. but it sure smells the room out.. It's not good for you in the long run to breathe in the stuff.. :)

  • Thanks for the vid, I needed some help when applying filler :). Do you know if Milliput is any good? because i bought some a while back but havnt got around to using it yet :)

  • @Bloodrin79 Milliput is good, I have used it but found it wasn't as easy to sand down.. it is however very easy to smooth down with water before it sets.. You can also use Milliput to make things like sandbags and other items, as it sculpts quite easily when soft.. :)

  • a helpful tutorial. and a good tip using masking tape.

  • @modellbahner2000 Yes, I was told that idea by another YouTuber who sadly no longer builds plastic models.. :P

  • i have squadren white putty :D and humbrol filler (which is useless!!)

  • @PlasticScaleModeller I've never tried the Humbrol filler.. I got recommended the Squadron White and have stuck to it ever since.. apart from the odd time now and again when I use the Vallejo filler as it is easier to apply but not always as practical.. :)

  • ok. sounds like a good job...what does it pay? :) nice tutorial :))) but close up pics of the putting on of the putty would be nicer...ok

  • @granskare I don't do close up.. it scares the junior modellers and gives them nightmares.. :0

  • @BasicModelling oh so there is no job? :)

  • @granskare I have a branch office in Nigeria, that is looking for a qualified University educated floor sweeper.. Must have own hat! You get paid in Bananas..

  • @BasicModelling blast! uni education drivel...I have many hats and paper with crayons to make my own uni cert...uh, bananas from where? Africa= no way; Central America = okay

  • @granskare Lebanon.. finest quality.. :)

  • @BasicModelling uuuuuh they are the finest :)

    btw, I am watching

tasmanian tiger but yt is jealous of other sites
