Do they still have the baby bullet train, that only has the baby bullet car in the front, but they use the original silver cars as the passenger cars?
A small version of these cars are also used by New Jersey Transit. They are bi-level, but not as high. They are a bit shorter and they have high platform-level doors located where the mezanine level is on the standard Bombardiers. Trains4ever8 is correct: they are used by AMT (The Montreal Transit Authority, in English). If you want to see video of Sounder bi-levels being pulled by Amtrak, check my page or search: Empire Builder Carrying Seattle Sounder Cars
I agree, the Bombardier cars are way sexier. You can find them not only on CalTrain but Metrolink (which I ride), GO Transit, Sounder, ACE and Coaster systems. There's probably one or two more I'm not aware of that use them.
amt and amtrak are 2 compnies diferent amt is a commuter train company in montreal and amtrak is commuter and traveling long distance company in usa and montreal (central station)
Orlando's Sunrail, Miami's Tri-rail, Salt Lake City's FrontRunner, Minneapolis Northstar, Montreal's AMT, etc. etc. They're everywhere. Interestingly, the original design was built by a publicly funded effort to supply Toronto's GO Transit system. They've since been purchased and improved by Bombardier and sold all over the continent.
Thanks @yardlet6 that's true. Lines with tighter operating envelopes like the Long Island Railroad, New Jersey Transit, Metro North or Chicago's Metra use more compact cars like Bombardier's "Multi-level" car or the like.
Hey do you all mind if I ask why you all have commuter trains like in onterio (sorry for the misspelling) and mountain veiw (which ive been on) and LA, but here in Louisiana where we need that more than ever, but we don't?? :[
It's simple. You used to. But your politicos knuckled under to pressure from auto manufacturers, airlines, cement companies, ad infinitum to create an America where you have to buy a product, not a service, to get from point A to point B. Every other country in the world hasn't shat away its infrastructure.
You all are very lucky to have a commuter train. In Louisiana We don't have one and its very hard to get from place to place when your only a kid which is why we need a commuter train.

ecoRfan 4 years ago
@ecoRfan Caltrain use to have beautiful horns, but due to noise complaints they had to use these shitty horns since they aren't as loud.

They use the Baby Bullet Cars for the Paris Commuter Train. They look the same.
