To me this is one of the saddest songs ever, in any type of music. Another in that list is King Crimson's "Starless" which might have been an inspiration behind this (the monotonous middle part). Anyway, what the 2 songs have in common is that, even though they are very sad, they are also very gripping and absorbing.
