Guy below me knows nothing... how'd you check everything but don't know what a differential. Wow, inlinePRO sells a nice kit so you don't blow the stock pumpkin
@DtoWnSux1 i didn't upgrade it, just got a used diff case with the diff in it from a local used parts dealer and swaped the case myself, cost me 700 canadian dollars, also noticed 1 of the 4 bushings the diff case is mounted to is cracked so that is my next repair, maybe next month when i have some time.
maybe its due to a lot of miles on the diff? i know a few guys that are boosted with over 400rwhp and the stock diff and stock gears are working just fine for a few years now.
wow...i dump the clutch sometimes...i have drag raced it about 8 times i think i wont do that till i get a more reliable one...after gears ill just roll into my torque :D
fuck man what a cut job, my s2ks diff just got fucked recently to, i think the reason was becuase i had 20s on it, fucken hell, its going to coast me 1000-1500AUD to fix it
In case you haven't been keeping up with current events, the American car industry is in the crapper. Must be because they make such great cars, huh? Sorry to all the domestic fanboys but now is not the time to claim American automotive superiority unless you're trying to make a joke.
@oziumzx As much as I love domestics I have to agree with you. They made great cars before the 90s. Now the imports are taking their place for decent cars.
wow after seeing that its making me think otherwise to hammer my s2000 around.. :( now im scared mines going to go lol oh well easy driving until i forgot i ever saw this video. i do lots of clutch dumps though thank god nothings happend..
yeah i have an s2k turbo with the puddydaddy diff i got for christmas because i blew my stock one and ive dropped the clutch a whole bunch and it hasnt done shit thank God lol
The same thing happend to me. My diff blew out and hears what happend: Was taking this SRT-4 and we both had the leading eadge at times but about the time I was going into fourth from third I on accident dropped it into second. Now, I've also got a stage 3 cluch and that thing grabed the fly wheel like nothing and I went all over the road after smoking the tires. It was the diff that went out. So if you're planning on putting a stage 3 clutch in your S2000, be careful on this.
Wow..I drive a wrx so I'm aware of how fragile the trannies could be, but i had absolutely no idea that s2k's suffered from anything closely and remotely similar to this problem. i thought you could clutchdump/quickshift/etc with ease, it was just an all out fun go cart. What am i missing? Fill me in on some of the downfalls of it.
the end caps on the diff housing break due to the bolts being prone to stretching as well. the comptech uses stronger bolts and end caps. the s2000 trans is strong. its just the actual housing on the rear end.
@oziumzx hahaha true right there. Posting for bail n crap. Was gonna get a camaro but gonna stick with a honda :)

Was the differential? final gear? bearings? housing?
Cause my S make same noise now and i cannot see what's happened.
My final gear is perfect, the bearings sound really good. Maybe is the differential...

dude trust me if your going to be dumping it. lookin into a comptech diff or if you have the extra cash, the puddydaddy diff.
i only took it out on back roads, thats the hardest level the car was driven is like in that video.
Not sure how the last owner took care of it though:(

ap1 or ap2? what did u end up doing?
yeah man you would think honda would really improve the diff like subie did with the wrx trannys.
i cringe everytime i see videos on here of people dumping the clutch at 7k+ on their s2ks. or side stepping it just to get sideways.
jhor86 3 years ago
i dont cringe... i do it all the time autoXing... i just make sure i have a spare diff at all times.
