I work in a resturant. I just put a 5 gallon bucket next to the trash can and the servers dump the grounds into it. They also put the used tea bags into it.
@Allen2045 Yeah, it is AMAZING how much good stuff for the earth, compost, etc., gets thrown out. We have a small family and it amazes me how much organic waste we have in our kitchen compost tray every few days.... watermelon rinds, banana peels, tea bags, etc.. As you point out, restaurants are no doubt a site of HUGE wastes on a truly commercial/industrial level. It is AWESOME that you are able to capture the restaurant's used coffee grounds and give them back to planet earth. Keep it up!
@tucsonpersonified: Tell your local starbucks that it is a national policy that they give away used coffee grounds. you can find their policy online at the starbucks website or google it. take that in with you to your local store and teach them about it diplomatically.
Starbucks gave me about 40 pound of used coffee grounds today when I asked! Hit them up late in the day and they are happy to give you tons of the stuff! I heard not all Starbucks do it, but I think most do.
@lordvelos: It is a national policy, so ALL Starbucks should do it if you ask. But places that just say "we sell Starbucks coffee" (but is not really an actual Starbucks store) probably won't know what you are talking about if you ask. If your local Starbucks is not in the habit of giving this away, I've found that it helps to let them know early in the day that I will be coming by to pick it up later, so they start throwing their used grounds in a separate bag for me.
good vid
thanks. you git me with the phone in background.
