As far as any other democratic system that is based upon a majority vote - after all, social democracies are "democracies." That includes practically all of the allies of the US. Every friend of the US is, or had, social democratic parties as their leaders.
In the 90's in Europe we had the more socialist leaders ever in number and yet...we did nothing to move ahead from the libertarian market into a new market system that obtains better economic conditions for the lower classes of our countries.
We continued on the same way and the Americans went us wherever they wanted us.From wars, to the redemption of big national companies that kept our economies under some control. Now we have nothing. How can this change?
Democracy, Free education, healthcare, public transport, 30 hours of working per day and high wages are good things achieved by the socialists and social democrats. But it is not all. We are not allowed to lose our hope for real direct democracy, for real socialism in which nobody is exploited by these few guys who think, that they would own factories, fields, resources..and yeah the whole world. and in the moment the rights are winning and winning...

im sorry IVE BEEN to the uk, sweden and goddamn cuba once. I know about it and why it is really social fascism... the only true forms of socialism are marxist
You are in a big error. For exemple in my country the communist arrested the members of the social-democrat party. You said that social-democrats are communist...What about the integration of Romania in EU and NATO during the social-democrat governement? You just visited those countries but I lived during Ceausescu's regime. Have you ever heared about Ceausescu?
yes. Prime Minister, but even if is a Kingdom, the king was aproved by majority on votations. Their democracy is better than a lot of "democratic republics"...
Thanks for making this video. I am trying to figure out what system of goverment I think is best, and your explanation helped me understand social democracy. How do you measure equality of opportunity? Here in the United States we claim everyone has equal opportunity but it's clearly false.
Alfred Gusenbauer...well, he's intelligent & has a great agenda...he's forced to coalition with the conservative party, so he's having a hard time getting his agenda realized. Though he's done a good bit and what he's managed to accomplish has been under-rated. Instead he's been criticized for being the OEVP's whipping boy, and they criticize his complacency. Too bad really, in a stand alone government, the Socialist party could do so much more, and people'd see what he's truly capable of.
