  • Hi, what is the model of HDD in Zune? i need new HDD for my hp mini 1000 , and i was wondering would it work ? i know ipod classic 120gb wont work(has a 4KB Block Size (physical))

  • @arvutimodem The Zune 120 and iPod Classic use the same hard drive sadly. I am unsure another model of HD that will work on the HP Mini 1000.

  • Can you put a bigger size drive in a 80gb Zune, or is there a size limit on the logicboard?

  • @mgh6x37 The motherboard is only set up for that specific hard drive size. I know a larger hard drive can be rigged onto the Zune's, however this does take quite a bit of technical knowledge.

  • so when i get a new hard drive will the firmware be intact or will there be a special process to upload the firmware

  • @zomby0wolf The Zune software will do this for you. Very simple process.

  • mine never syncs right and it freezes constantly. if i get a new hard drive will it fix it or could it be a board issue

  • @ishouldplayzelda Difficult to say. Sounds more likely that it is a hard drive issue. If the hard drive cannot be read then it normally will freeze, and cannot be synced.

  • I need some help, please somebody! ive an 80 gb zune and it doesn't allow me to sync songs on it. when I put "sync to my zune" it sart syncing but it never ends and it ends showing an message that says "your device isn´t respondig, please disconnect.."bla.I'm quite convinced that it's hard drive is broken. If I install a new HD on it,an empty one,how do I put the ZUNE software IN the zune,I mean, the device interface and those stuff....also, which kind of HD should I put in it? size, etc. THNKS!!

  • @thefranzfrom1991 Yes, it does sound like a hard drive issue. I would suggest replacing it with one of the same size (80GB). Other sizes use different flex cables which are not compatible. Once the new hard drive is synced everything should be good to use. Check out RepairsUniverse (dot) com for replacement hard drives.

  • so if i take the old hard drive out and replace it with a new one, that basically means all the songs that were on my zune are going to be gone, right? and i have to basically upload all 2000 songs that were on there all over again? :(

  • @dcsbebe Yes, but as long as you have everything on your computer, its should be a fairly quick upload. Normally all replacement hard drives are completely empty (as is ours at RepairsUniverse (dot) com).

  • what kind of screwdriver do yuh need?

  • @Slipknotisraw123 You will need at Torx T4 screwdriver, we have these available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • For some odd reason, I have a t4 screw driver but I can't get the screw out at all. Are there any other alternative recommendation so I can get the screws out?

  • @GoArsenal09 You may have to press firmly. Some of the screws can be a bit tight.

  • Can I take a 120GB HDD out of my broken Zune, and trade it out with me Red 80GB zune? Or would it screw up the software?

  • @EnderofGames Yes, you can do this.

  • I need to crack my Zune open, but I don't have a "safe open tool", and I don't want to buy one. Is there some other tool that I can use?

  • @UberMan5000 We recommend the correct tools so not to damage the Zune.

  • do you know what hhd the zune 80gb uses? as well as the new zune 32gb?

  • @Itouchangels We have the replacement 80GB drives at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

The 32GB uses memory and not a physical hard drive.

  • @RepairsUniverse are you serious ? , HD is def not worth it >__> then.

neither is updating the Z software .

  • can we send in items for repair?

  • @patyanmal Yes, we offer repair services. Please check the RepairsUniverse (dot) com website for details.

  • ok i really need help ive owned my zune for 2 years now (zune 80 black) and it just died whi i was startin up a movie, i tried opening up and fixing it (cause usually i have dumbluck with that kind of stuff, and... idk theres a little black wire going up near the lock switch thats not attached and it looks like the hrd drive cord has like a little tear in it somehow can this problem be fixed with a new hard drive?, and is ssd or hdd better?

  • @MrBowchikawowwow The black thin cord is the antenna cable this will just pop on. The torn hard drive cable will need to be replaced. You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • Can you replace the HD with a bigger 2.5" HD? and after it replace with another HD, does it get the operating system from the program on the computer?

    Thanks

  • @biodiezel This is instructions for the 80GB. The 120GB is different.

  • Know anybody that knows how to open an Iomega Prestige 500GB harddrive?

  • can you put an old 120gb xune hhd into a new zune 80gb player

  • Any idea on how to fix the Zune Button Pad? My pad responds awkward, works, but doesnt respond well. And will go different directions.

  • I have the zune 120gb and I'm having a problem where it just won't turn on anymore. When I connect it the battery screen MIGHT show up, but it doesn't get past that. Do I have to replace the battery?

  • i need to replace the headphone jack you guys dont have any on yourwebsite where can i get 1

  • @RepairsUniverse i dunno if this makes a difference but i have a limited edition GOW (Gears Of War) Zune and its pretty hard to open the top (like in the 1st part of this video) is there a different way to open it?? if so i would LOVE to know

  • so, to unclip the front part do you slide the tool like you did, or were you unable to find a place to insert it?

  • You guys claim to carry all the parts to fix a broken Zune, yet you don't carry the 120gb HDD.

  • I've seen your website and your replacement parts seem the cheapest. However, I can't seem to find the 120GB replacement hard drive. Do you guys not carry it?

  • Hello does doing this fix the Error 5 Contact Support Message or does it end up being a waste of money to do? Because I believe Error 5 is a bad hard drive? I dont know can someone help?

  • @MrElmeraron1 Yes this is a drive issue. To fix you will need to replace the drive.

  • How exactly do you reinsert the ribbon?

  • I have the 120 zune I want take it apart to replace the battery but I cannot get the top cap to pop off I don't want to damage it any furher any suggestion's?

  • Im looking for a video on how to replace an 80 gb zune battery. Any suggestions will help.

  • I have a 120 that has been restarting, today it rebooted and is stuck on the loading screen at almost 100%. Any idea what this could be?

  • what are all of the tools that you would need to take apart the zune? is it only the OPENER and T4? or do you also need the TRIWING SCREWDRIVER?

    Thank you

  • @MVLINEMAN Just the opener and the T4 screwdriver. The triwing is not required.

All these tools are on the RepairsUniverse (dot) com web site.

  • I have a repair question. I think something is wrong with my Zune's pad (80 gig). No matter what I click, or where I click on the pad, it always just goes left. Whenever I reset it, the pad works for a few seconds, but then reverts back to going left. Is there anything I could do without opening the Zune? Or is that going to be my only solution?

  • i have the 80gb model, and it looks much better than the 120gb, all they needed to do was replace the hard drive, the appearance of the 120gb model is ugly. i want to know if it possible to put the 120gb hard drive or even a bigger one to my zune ?

  • I believe you can but we do not do modifications only repairs so we can not help you a great deal with this.

  • i accidently connected the usb cable from my pc to the zune backward. the zune slowly went dead. what part was damaged by doing that

  • Have you damaged the dock /charge port?

  • no the port looks ok: no sure how i connected it backward

  • what do u think i damaged

  • what if i accidentally pulled the orange flex cable out from where it's attached to the front panel? i tried to put it back but it seems loose, like it's not in right...

  • got a question when i shut down my zune for over 6 hrs and when i try to turn it on and see and listen my music its frozes up most up the times and it resets itself what can i do ? some times appears message 5 in the screen also sometimes theres missing items in the playlist thanx

  • Sounds like the drive is ok the way out. You may need to replace it soon.

  • @ElLeonDeLaSierra i dont know if anyone has replied already to you, or if you solved your problem yet, but what you do is you plug in your zune, bring up the software on your computer, go to SETTING, then to Device, on one of the coices in the list , when you click on one it will say erase all on device or something like that, then let it delete everything. after just upload everything again

  • i'm pretty sure i just stripped the screw so i'll try hammering in a flathead to remove the screw...

  • Is there a way to replace the batter by it self?

  • Yes, We sell the batteries on the RepairsUniverse (dot) com web site.

It's simply a case of removing the old battery and soldering the new one into place.

  • how the hell did you unscrew those 2 tiny screws ? I just tried like 10 of the tinniest screw drivers I could find and none of them would work.

  • you need a t 4 star driver

  • sometimes you have to put a little pressure on it for it to work

  • yea same here, i cant find the right tool

  • T4 screwdriver. These are available on the RepairsUniverse (dot) com web site.
