i shoulda said, i work with explosives. (ACL Shotfiring Pty. Ltd. Victoria Australia) and yes dets are a serious thing. I saw a "saftey officer" at the Gold Mine I used to work in, burn some explosives rubbish ie saftey fuse, det cord, emulite, powergel, which is completley safe apart from the fumes. Its one of a few disposal methods. A .500 second eletric det was in it somewhere, he put his hand near the pile to move sum stuff, and pop! it split his hand in btween middle fingers about an inch.

lol i have i live in ny not nyc anyways they blast in my neighborhoob so they can but the sewers in. the workers had left for lunch and like 50 holes were wired and some were not and the caps were just lying around
haha wow. They left the holes wired? I would hope that the caps were not in the charge...but still even just a cap can do serious damage. Those workers should lose there jobs and get arrested for reckless endangerment...lol seriously...
Anyone remember an explosive safety video where a kid finds what looks like an artillery round and tosses it in his back pack and some soldiers come along and tell him to stop moving as they approach him to remove it from his back? Was early to mid seventies. I used to love that clip.
I don't ever remember seeing any video this long, but when I was growing up (60's) there were frequently public service announcements, 30-60 seconds, during cartoon shows after school.
