  • try using screws alot easyer than nails

  • Thank you for sharing this! very interesting!

  • you could use any kind of fire right?

  • @geo6642 As long as it gets hot enought to melt lead!

  • where can you get that cup from??

  • how do you use a spider weight??..i mean like doesnt it get caught like in logs and in between rocks??..like how the legs are like that...

  • @d4mi3nBr0th4 These weights are more for fishing on the beach where there is only sand on the bottom. for logs and rocks you may want to use a silver dollar or tear drop sinker. best bet is carolina rigged egg sinker with texas rigged bait.

  • Manuel, are you still making videos and is your web site still up, I can't seem to find it. Thanks for you excellent video series.

  • @RobbinsJoe surffishing(dot)tripod(dot)com do not add the 3 W's at the beginning. The link is in the video info. Geocities went down so I had to revert to an old saved version of my website but the info is still there.

  • I made some crude spider weights using small sections of rebar that I found and coat hanger legs wrapped in gorilla tape. (I told you they were crude) but they worked fine, buried in the sea floor and sprung with the mouse trap affect like they should. I will be making some nice ones in the future like in this great video .

  • To twist the eye up i would get one of those thing that you use to twist wire to hold re-bar together when pouring concrete!! It would be alot faster...

  • That would be good if you have one handy but for just making a few weights it's not worth the cost.

  • O i thought they wore only 3 or 4 dollars for a cheap one i got one for free..how do you keep weights for 4-5 years???

  • Well I don't loose them and if I do loose them there is always a 20-30 long "SHOCK LEADER" on them so all I have to do is let the rip tide stretch it out and go out and snag it up and I get me gear back. Not to mention that with these weight I just run a new wire through the bottom when the legs break off. I have a couple of weights I've been using for over 10 years.

  • Could use a cordless drill to wind them up fast if you really wanted to. Great video series you have.

  • Yea you could...Thanks man!

  • That was a good video, can u tell me the size drill and how deep u have to get in, and approximately how many oz is the spider sinker.

  • I actually drilled those nail holes with a nail that had the head cut off. The Ounces depends on how much lead you pour into the mold. this weight was about 5 ounces. Go price a 5 ounce weight... You're looking at about $6

  • can you make one with seament

  • Cement wouldn't be very heavy

  • ok thanks

  • where u get the lead??

  • To get the lead...Go to a tire shop and ask them if they have any old lead to sell or give away (They use it to balance the wheels). or if you know a plumber, ask him/her. I probably have over 100 lbs of lead that i've collected over the years. (It's all melted into one pound bars.

  • well done, nice to learn from an expert

  • whats a spider weight for?

  • Spider weights are used in the surf (Fishing from the beach) They sink into the sand and the little arms hold your bait where you cast it, They also set the hook most times when a big fish takes the bait.

  • ohhhhhhhhhh

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • Be very cautious about lead fume inhalation, wear a respirator.

  • WARNING: Do not put hot lead on anything wet - It will pop and send hot lead everywhere... Believe me I know!

  • be very cautious about any water falling into the melting pot, especially sweat. also you really should wear safety glasses. Manny, i think your vids are great!

  • I usually do wear safety sun glasses but I set up for and made this video in one take. it just slipped my mind.
