Great song, brings me back to 1958 and the Friday night dances at Wisdom Lane Junior High in Levittown LI....I am 67 and love the songs & memories they bring, thanks for uploading.
The first time that I heard this was on the jukebox of the Hotel Hansen in Amsterdam, back in 1961. I was a 24-y.o. GI on leave from West Berlin. Good memories!
Kudos to the great Charlie Thomas, He did it back in 1961 and he's still doing it today. He also sang lead on '"When My Little Girl Is Smiling" "Baltimore" and "Room Full of Tears". How many original Drifters are left? .......Ben E. King and Charlie Thomas
This audio upgrade is great. Now if they can put some old time classic drifers photos or films with it will be even better. Overall great upgrade on the music which is the orginal.
i bought this album when it first came out and i listened to it over and over again! i loved every song on it. i am so grateful to the poster of this song and all the other people who post these great old soul songs! i am 63 and have cancer and i can't tell you how much i appreciate being able to hear all these great songs!!!
Thank you so much for posting this version! I completely agree with the statement about how truly instrumental (ha ha) backup musicians are in creating great music, especially from this era. In my opinion, the wonderful piano accompaniment is what makes this recording so memorable and sets it apart from the others.
Would you believe I thought of this song tonight for it came to me and I had to find the right recording since others had recorded this song. THIS IS THE ONE and I didn't know it was the Drifters. With the other studio voices and the fantastic musicians I remember this song when I was a kid in grade school...can we say either kindergarden or first grade back when this song was released. Great song and thank you for posting it.
Sometimes behind a great singing group and a great song, the backup session muscians get overlooked. On this particular song, its hard not too. It all makes for a great timeless enjoyable recording.
Why can't music nowadays sound like this???

This is the original recording released in 1961 with Charlie Thomas on lead vocals.
The Searchers released a cover version of the song in 1963.

We took latin ballroom lessons just before our wedding. This song always reminds me of that time. And there is nothing wrong with a good box-step!
