mac and pc use same hardware. If you take out hardware form mac and look up price on free market you will see that same hardware from mac cost more. Windows have about 10 to 20x more free programs. You can find a free program for windows for anything. The part of computer that you think is ugly is the case. I can choose form 1000 different cases if i compose my own PC, but you are pretty much stuck with case that apple chosen for you. Unless if you buy a new one.

All personal computers are composed form same parts including mac. The 7 years out of date os, is 1,5 years old with few moths old service pack, and is updated on regular basis.
