@Corbenik hello when i boot fromt the cd it doesnt goto the Ubuntu Menu thing it gives me a cmd and we have set our bios to boot from the cd and still gives us the cmd and we burned it correctly please help!!!!!!!
Just requested a Live CD, the one i burned myself didnt work (probably because of the download accelerator i used). Its pretty sweet that you dont even have to pay shipping!
i got linux dvd downloaded from net linux wont even boot from cd i setted up my bios and etc it wont boot i got vista DVD it boot normaly linux dont and when i do inwindow install it stop working help me plese.
Ubuntu 8.10 works great with all but one thing of everything I've got. Graphics card, Monitor, USB mouse, USB keyboard, 12in1 Memory card reader even the LCD-TV I could not get the proper Resolution for in Windows and Nvidias drivers, now it's pixel fraggin' perfect, my main OS for watching movies I tell you. But I'll never use it with my scanner. Scanner worked in Ubuntu 8.04 tho.
Moron. Ubuntu detected X2 CPU and onboard audio & LAN. But it did not detect ATI or Nvidia card, but easy enough to install restricted drivers. Also didn't detect X-Fi but that's easy to install also.
When I put my cd in to run Ubuntu, it goes to the main screen and the little orage thing moves back and forth then it jumps to another screen where it goes threw a check or something and they all say (ok), then my screen goes blank. how can i fix this?
After booting from the CD, there is an install icon on the desktop--just double click that and follow the instructions to install (if you want to keep window after the install, pay very close attention while you do this)
you computer is not affected at all by just booting from the live CD
when it boots up, do you have to change the system stuff, before windows loads? because i put in the cd, i wait, then it turns windows xp on! its supposed to work from the burned disk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GRR!!!!! please help!
You need to select CDROM as your first boot device, when you first switch your PC on and it POSTS, press DEL and you should be given the CMOS/BIOS screen. Then you need to change the startup options. Be careful here, if you change something major you can screw up your board. Refer to your Motherboard manual.
OOOOhhhh! you forgot one very important part. the part where you boot and click on the desktop the "install" button... it would be very helpful for you to go through that with us. theres more to it than hitting that button and waiting. you have to do such things as allocate a partition for linux SWAP. yes? plus you should pronounce BIOS correctly. And ISO. please respond!
OOOOHHHH you forgot one special part... the part where you actually INSTALL THE OS!!! that would be very helpful. because you don't just hit one button and it installs. you have to allocate different partitions. one such as the SWAP partition. please respond! or make another movie! THANKS
mm I need a little help installing ubuntu 7.0.4 Im new to linux. So I have a question when i boot and it goes to the ubuntu to screen I enter Start or install Ubuntu (i cant remember exactly what it said) Well I press it then it went black and at the bottom it said things that I couldent recognize. and it stayed like that for a while. But I didnt wait to long.. maybe 8-10 minutes. So I just want to know if its suppose to do that or is something wrong. thanks.
hi. but when i am in ubuntu and them i want to return to windows how can i do it? then... what files can i access? games? programs? applications? i am a noob and i fear unpleasant consequences if i boot from cd.. i dunno.. will it be all ok?
I recommend you partition windows and use the spare space for Linux. If you dont like it, simply delete the Linux partition and merge it using partition magic. Check out ubuntu website for more info.
It depends on the system, it runs best on 256MB RAM or More. If you are running on this type of system and it still is giving problems check ubuntu website
The drive will appear on the desktop screen. It can be accessed from there when it is installed. The internet connection is normally automatically detected. Try locating drivers for your hardware some may be missing.
Now I wont to install Ubuntu on my Virtual PC. Is it possible to set the screen resolution at the boot screen? I tried already the command line property but it doesn't work properly. The Virtual PC sead that the screen resolution is to high for my monitor.
One ,mistake I made was putting Ubuntu on a dvd-r instead of a dvd-rw, now I can't change anything on the disk and it won't fullly install :(

isleofwightinsider 2 years ago
will this delete all the things on my comp
kiLLaSAini 2 years ago
No. It will allow you to see your drives, but won't do anything to them unless you go in and delete the files yourself.
s14sher 2 years ago
it depends on what you do
if you just run the cd in test mode it won't hurt a thing
if you do a full installation its going to wipe your entire drive
but you could also do what is called partitioning so you can have windows(or what every os you have) and linux

Any normal keyboard will work with Ubuntu. Keyboards and mice are very common things, so you don't have to worry about it.

I guess I'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to this stuff, but I'm learning. 2 questions.
How do you install it instead of booting it from the CD?
When I boot it from the CD, will I be able to go back to my original OS without any problems?
Thanks in advance.

no. You use iso recorder to burn the cd. Load the iso file into iso recorder.

piece of shit,
my internet connection doesn't work,
my disk drive is not visible (and i don't no how to mount it or even find it)
the 3d effects is not working, can you tell me why?
jacek533 5 years ago
the disk drive is always visible with ubuntu unless you set it not to. Firstly you need to either be running it live or you need to install it.

try using a program called VMWare. It is similar to Virtual PC. It may run on that with the correct resolution. Type it into google.
tauheedul 5 years ago
Ive never tried VMWare before but people say it is better than VPC
