If Landmark is a cult, we need a HELL of a lot more cults in the United States and the world. Some of the sanest, most grounded people I know are people that have done this course. It is crazy to me that people don't think twice about paying hundreds of dollars for a golf coach or personal fitness trainer, but do a course like the Landmark Forum to get better at things that actually MATTER in life-like having great relationships-and somehow that you are supposed to "figure out" on your own.
Doesnt your church take money from you? your government, your corner store when you buy smokes? wake up to real life why dont you... why the hell should the Landmark Forum be free?... shake your head a bit
Fact is that over 100,000 community projects have been started from people participating in LE's programs globally. People get in touch with what really matters to them - and get the tools to move what's stopping them out of their way - it's that simple. Landmark is a business that offers education - do they want you to keep doing their courses? What biz doesn't?
If you're interested in doing it - go in with an open mind, participate fully and make up your own mind from YOUR lived experience.
Hey Jason, It sounds like you definitely were speculating too much into how people perceive you because of your (lack of) education and dreads :) So funny how humans feel about what other people are thinking about them... That exercise when they had us close our eyes and realize that everyone was scared of the person next to them was life changing for me. Were all so caught up in our "machines".
Companies like LE (and there are many of them) are just like the medicine men of the old west - buy this remedy and it will cure all your ills, everything from headaches to balding to poor eyesight. The difference is with the seminar companies (many having their roots in EST and Scientology) is that it is a progressive sell: free 1/2 day seminar, weekend seminar, full-week seminar, 1-year academy, 'life' coaching, books. I have seen people go bankrupt as a result - several people. Really.
this course is up to you.but im warning you. this shit ruined my dad. look at the evidence befor you sign up. its a straight cult, and i guarantee they will delete this comment because of the fact they want to keep it hidden for the income. its up to you really, but have a look for videos or evidence befor you make a decision. i mean if there really trying to spread the love why are the courses 500$+ for 1 weekend? think about it guys.
I did the Forum and Advanced Forum and a couple of seminars in the 90's. For me it was worth the money. I got rid of a lot of family baggage. Everyone is different.
LOL at people calling this a cult--like orgainzed religion isn't?
They tell you it is a for profit business, right up front. Anyway, it's kind of like boot camp for your own life. They make you get out there and take chances instead of always playing it safe. Good Luck, bud!
Landmark Education is a company that manipulates people into needing Landmark Education under the guise of it being the individual's own powerful choice. This is a fact. Anyone who has "Popped" will tell you that they know that Landmark will continue to help them in their "New" life.
I did the landmark forum in May of 2011 in NYC. Nothing is terribly offensive about the forum until the 3rd day when they tell you that all you are is a "Meaning making machine" and that is because "Life is empty and meaningless, and it is empty and meaningless that it is empty and meaningless." Once you understand and internalize this, they say that you have "Popped" adn you are welcomed into your transformed life.
The catch is that Landmark, having previously broken down all of you ideas on life and your future, now has all of the answers for your new incredible life. The forum costs $500 ($550 in NYC). The second class (The one they tell you you need so that you can direct your life) cost 875 DOLLARS.
Landmark Education is a company that manipulates people into needing Landmark Education under the guise of it being the individual's own powerful choice. This is a fact. Anyone who has "Popped" will tell you that they know that Landmark will continue to help them in their "New" life.
I like to invite a couple hundred people to join me so that I can tell you that you need to work harder on whatever you are sucking at (relationships/your professional life/goals). Out of these couple hundred people, a few of you may want to leave after hearing me babble for a couple of hours. The rest of you stick around and pay me a few hundred dollars.
Then, after I've told you what you already know, you have to do what you already knew you should be doing for your life to get better.
Great share Jason, and some great discussions going on here, I did the forum and found it to be professional, structured and indeed life transforming, I'm still myself, I still have very human issues to deal with, but I have a great set of tools or distinctions to deal with them - effectively and powerfully. Is it cult like? Pfft not at all. Is it brainwashing - well, it certainly cleaned out a lot crap that was going on up there so maybe I did wash my brain... And I'm thankful I did :)
@domnie1270 actually, you do find happiness at that seminar because you become more aware of who you are and what you want and why you are the way you are... after you leave the Forum you feel like a new baby being born!!!
@domnie1270 So your cult is a church then? Come on man don't take things so seriously. Have you been to LMF? I spend tons of time with family and great friends, I travel the world and live life to it's fullest.. I am beyond happy... how about you?
@jesuislepluscool I heard the cow jumped over the moon! Most things people don't understand they just label a cult because it is easier than actually looking into it for themselves. Just my opinion...
We can be blind to ourselves, and require others to notice things, much like looking through some tinted lenses, after a while the world stops looking rose and starts looking normal, we can't see this stuff ourselves.
There are things we know, things we know we don't know (I know I don't know how to speak Japanese) and finally things we don't know that we don't know.
How do you find something that you don't know that you don't know?
Thanks Jason,Through landmark forum, I too, got some helpful insights into how I was being, and started to authenticate some of my "default" modes, There came a time (week 8, of the forum in action series) where I discovered(after being fully on the court) I was losing personal power by attending the landmark meetings . I spent a lot of pray wanting to genuinly find out what was up. Then it came to me...of course...Before I attended the L/F I had been relying on the Creator of the universe
I took the forum and advance course, it was worth every penny. I have shared my experience with friends they took it. I want to take it again to understand it more and use it to the fullest. I have drastically reduce my nagativity and ultimatly be happy. I am in peace since I don't live in the past nor future I live now fully. One of my favorite part is be the person with the highest integrity. Can you imagine if every person in power can apply it? I never learned anything like that in my li
@picuda1969 you don't need a "COURSE" where you pay too much money to be stuck in a room for too many hours for several days in order to find peace within yourself.. if you want to know peace send me a note and i'll share with you for free how to be at peace.. life is not about what others can teach you buy charging you, we are all teachers to one another each day of our lives.. please don't give them any more of your money..
Landmark is a system which "mines" the vast population of which consists of many people searching for inner meaning or outer success , and who are receptive to coaching which opens them up to a certain manipulation of which Landmark provides - along with a structure and language !
Largely , I found the forum to be a place where a lot of people go to have a social life , along with the topic of the seminar - many go repeated times - like church !
Rather than say "I don't really know anything about this but I'm open to see what it has to offer..."
The same thing happened with my school. I used to go to a Steiner school which many people don't know much about and most people would judge my school saying it was horrible and no one ever learned anything.
So, basically, my main message is this: If you don't know about something, don't judge, and DON'T make judgments due to what others have said. Use your OWN experiences :)
To all the people judging Landmark, I just want to ask one thing: Have you actually even done the course?
If so, PLEASE do not judge.
One thing I've noticed is that when people don't really know much about something it's much easier for them to judge it in a negative way than in a positive way.
E.g. It's much easier to say "Oooh! I don't know anything about Landmark anf it's different, therefore it MUST be a horrible cult!"
@purplemonkey51 i think it has more to do with the fact that they are asking ridiculous amounts of money and want you to keep taking and paying for their "course" to improve yourself.. one need not pay someone money to find their true self and peace of mind.. life provides all the lessons necessary to be the best you, all one must do is pay attention! :)
landmark is a total scam, in the forum they will immediately go on to hard-sell the next course, and they will tell you that the 2nd course is where the real results are. and in the 2nd course they will tell you the 3rd course is the most powerful. and then by the 3rd/4th course they will have you convinced that only by working for them for free, cold calling people to do the forum, will change happen in your life. such BS
@kitten1g, strictly speaking everything you say is correct, but what you miss out is that Landmark Education is truly effective and helps the vast majority or people who take it in a positive lasting way, 94% of people who do it have lasting positive changes. If paying some hundreds of dollars up for a life transforming experience is a scam then it is a scam, if learning to have self expression and being trained in how to live this while making a positive impact on the world is BS then sure...
@aether222 Nice share!! I took the Landmark Forum about 20 years ago. I use the tools to quickly move through life situations easier. I have come to the place where I just listen to people when they have issues they are dealing with. If they keep telling me over and over they want something better for their lives I simply tell them to consider the Forum. Keep what works and ingore the rest. Life is too short to mealey mouth around whinning.
It's refreshing to hear logical rational people who can use what Landmark offers vs.the insane rants of some of the truly disturbed individuals that post on utube!I've done most of the programs and recieved tremendous value from them. Most people really are obsessed with what L.E.does with the money.I can answer that..they spend it!What about all the money football teams take in,beer companies.?As far as this idea of brainwashing goes, most people already are!Landmark is actually an un-brainwash!
One of my friends invited me to one of those landmark forum introductions. They kept saying it is for people who simply want more in life, thus, it's for anybody. I regret the fact that I never told them, so if you don't take the course, you can't find what's more in life on your own? What they teach isn't bullshit. But the money they ask for is bullshit. To think, people who work for them are VOLUNTEERS.
Look, LE is not a cult. I did the Forum. I did the Six Day course. I no longer have anything to do with them and haven't for years. Some people find what they need in LE and get over involved, but that's true for anything. And no, things haven't gotten more cult-like, they've gotten less. Read up on what the original course was like if you don't believe me.
Is it useful to a person? It can be. You have to be willing to use what they teach you.
People judge you by your hair??? I think that you might be right that some people may judge you based on your looks but I don't think people that are that petty deserve your attention. It seems like you are a cool guy, smart and I have learned in my life not to judge others based on their looks or circumstance because if you do, you will be missing out.
yes these are good concepts.. duh. their concepts of life being sold . so many classes.. endless ways to make cash, endless ways to brain wash ppl ito thinking THE FORUM IS THEIR GOD, THE >POSSIBILITIES< ARE ENDLESS!! man... these things are not secrets. they r things uv forgoten or never learned. u can get the same thing by going out and meeting people and have all the benefits of a real healthy life rather then being manipulated into believing ur this EXTRAORDINARY PERSON when ur rly a ROBOT
lol i love how land mark has their own lil dictionary of meaningless and empty words that any typical white person could throw around( i am white so hush i am not racists, its the truth). you are not individuals ur robots all under the same freakin spell
this is a dangerous group. they would steal you, ur family, ur money.. YOUR DIGNITY. you dont pay hundreds of THOUSANDS of dollars to humans to RE TEACH YOU how to love yourself again and regain your seance of self. these ppl claim to care about you yet they dont mind taking ur money away from you when its simple fucking secrets like to TO FACE YOURSELF AND STOP HIDING LIKE A LIL BABY, they manipulate you and u will do that unto others. these people are frauds and want money ur soul. fuckin sick
LF sounds like basic concepts from standard Western talk psychotherapy--but with a less Rogerian and more prescriptive element. The ideas are fairly basic and sound--but the way they are presented as somewhat novel tends to bring the criticism. I'd love to try the forum. It's not a scam, but charging so much money for something that's not all that unique might be.
Landmark forum is a cult, and if you try to say anything negative about it they will shut you down. One girl was banned from graduation night because she spoke her mind and not all of it was 100% pro-landmark. Another person was escorted out after someone overheard him saying that he was going to say something negative about the landmark forum. This is really disturbing. I have decided not to recommend this program to anyone.
@youregow Yeah i was in a fit of rage when i wrote that. I had a friend who kept texting me all this negative stuff about the forum and sitting in squeaky uncomfortable chairs for 13 hours a day under those flickering buzzing florescent lights listening to people sobbing about their family problems was driving me to the brink of insanity. . I have now completed the forum and it was a very empowering and enlivening experience. I would actually recommend it to friends.
@70Chryslernewport : Think of it as a $435 lesson in being more careful with your money in future. I would suggest you just forget it, I'm sure you won't have to declare bankruptcy and you're in the same boat as all of humanity - when I think of the money I've wasted on crap in my lifetime I can get quite depressed, but then again, just like I suggested to you, I forget it - what's done is done. Good luck.
PS Do you actually have a 70 Chrysler Newport? That' would be cool to drive around!!
@vegaslover777 lesson learned ! the forum actually turned out to be ok. i learned a few helpful things. but i was expecting more for a price like that. and yes i do have a newport. there is a tiny picture of it on my channel.
Yes, I actually agree with you. I was just in a racket when i wrote that last comment. The truth is, 'you can't get away from yourself'. Are you ;planning on taking the advanced course?
@dharmadays check the date on my video...1 1/2 years ago...I did the 10 seminars after, signed up for and paid a deposit for the advanced course and have had not gone back 2 my local LM office in about a year, I have NOT been called even ONCE. So personally I think the whole u can't get away from them thing is a story people make up because they actually like the attention but don't have the money to play at the next level so turn that into a problem w/ LM and then label it a cult... my opinion
@ArtyFart Looks like I became a Human and forgot if we use your model of what the Forum is and isn't - the WHOLE point of the exercises I think you are trying to get to is to demonstrate that it is a story and none of it is true but that we can choose our circumstances and perspectives - NOTHING whatsoever for /against/ or about religion
@ArtyFart Hmmm posted and then must not have clicked post so apologies if somehow ends up with 2 x . I have met thousands of people that have done the forum - and I am yet to met one that thinks they are empty and meaningless from an exercise in the course which is on e of the most light hearted - also who is glossing over what? If you make assumptions when signing forms maybe you shouldn't - I know I don't - I ask questions and read thoroughly
Like any adventure in life, I wanted to be surprised by the presentation I had heard so many great things about. I loved the experience of being in TLF & felt totally respected & honored and my beliefs were not encroached on in any way whatsoever, not for 1 moment . Material was presented and from the privacy of my chair, I latched onto what I found useful and ignored what was not attractive to me. Real simple.
Sounds like you did not enjoy it , man up, sh*t happens mate.
Jason, I have done the LMF and if you have gotten as much as you have after just the first break I can only imagine the breakthroughs you are going to have going forward. Also because your sharing freely already! I admire your courage and commitment to your life and that of others! Slay those blind spots and Rock on.
Nice Jason ... I took the Landmark Forum about 3 year's ago. I continue to see the impact I have on others. As you said it ... when I have a loss of power or freedom ... it is probably that I am being inauthenic!
Hey Jason, What a great video and thanks for sharing. I did the Landmark Forum in November 2008 and got heaps out of it. My Latin dance studio went from being part time to now being full time with four staff plus me. I also have a way better relationship with my parents and my brother. My life has improved dramatically since during the Landmark Forum; to me, it's not a cult or a scam; to me, it's a great training & development program to empower you to get what you want in life.
Were you in the same Forum as me? I did it in November 2008 as well! I recall someone talking about their Latin Dance Studio. My Forum leader was Will I think..the red head guy from the UK. Either way congrats on your studio and thanks for the kind words!
I did my Landmark Forum in Brisbane, Australia. Gitanjali (Indian lady) was my Landmark Forum Leader. If there was somebody talking about their Latin Dance Studio in your Landmark Forum, that's hilarious - Latin dance studios are taking over the world!!!
Concerning the deification of "Language" that takes place in L.E. I recommend Wittgenstein's take on it: Every word that doesn't correspond to something that can be physically touched and seen is inherently slippert - using these words is like skating on ice.
Basically, the Forum has a way of making you responsible for how you see the world - and empowers you to disengage and take things "as they are" because they are inherently meaningless - if I may spoil it that much.
But all of it comes superglued into the insanest social marketing scheme ever and puts a lot of money form your bank account onto theirs.
Join a Zen group, you can have similar "results" without all the frenzy, manipulation and psycho-exploitation.
If you were to sum it up in two words those would probably be the best ones. Amazingly a lot of people have a hard time doing this because they are too caught up in what others will think about them.
@zazonion I didn't say it was a scam, I said & I quote myself --> "It's only a scam if you don't participate in it because you will get nothing out of it & then of course you will feel like you got scammed."
What I have found is that usually whether it is LMF or something else those who are the first to call it a scam are usually people who didn't participate full out, and hold back & don't follow a recommended system. So I find it ironic that those who didn't succeed jump to it must be a scam
The former president of the APA, Raymond Fowler actually endorses the Landmark Forum. And... clarified that in his opinion the LF is in no way a cult (for all you cult fearmongers!!).
Its really sad to see all the cynical posts on here. Why go to such lengths to invalidate someone else's experience or interest in moving forward in life.
come on...and get happy or do something that makes a difference for others vs tearing something down. Thats way too easy.
Christianity and Catholicism seem more of a cult to me than Landmark Education does. People will go from being addicted to alcohol, to addicted to AA meetings, to addicted to Jesus. Landmark Education provides a "forum" for you to bring your b.s. and get it out of your HEAD. Then, when you listen to other people's b.s., you realize that your life isn't that bad after all. You only get out of the Forum what you want. If you're afraid to open up, then you're just afraid to take risks and live
Well - they make sure that "opening up" means "getting people into the sales event".
It's a little self-defeating that way imho.
I did get a "new perspective" on life too, and it it as largely positive, but YOU will have to be the one to say "up to here and no further" otherwise you'll end up forking over $6000 for the wisdom course or end up working your behind off for free as a Landmark Volunteer in one of the "assist" programs.
Pitching is part of "the game" they make you play.
Ya'll all know I'm not keen on Landmark. Actually I'd consider taking the forum if 1)I knew I wouldn't be hounded to take more courses; 2) have off-the-dial pressure put on me to recruit everyone in my life on Landmark's behalf 3) not have Landmark jargon forced down my throat, and 4) Landmark not use what seems to me to be brainwashing techniques.
I've reached the conclusion that what Landmark offers is useful, but it's the organization itself that operates in a sinister way. It's too bad.
I wouldn't say sinister.I just saw when people get something so in-f***ing-credible in their lives, they get a little crazy some even pushy. & given that that hasn't changed really since the begining of this work, it's something unfortunately that would have to be tollerated.
Is tollerating that worth it?
4 me, it was.
But,maybe it wouldn't be 4 U & that's 100% valid.
I just trusted my friends.Yes,they were way enthusiastic, but what happened in their lives was undeniable & incredible.
"I wouldn't say sinister.I just saw when people get something so in-f***ing-credible in their lives, they get a little crazy some even pushy"
You're talking about the participants but I'm talking about the organization. If sinister is too strong a word then I'd say manipulative at the very least.
Every G.F. I've had was @ least manipulative & @ worst sinster.
@ 1 point,I had 2 weigh cost/benefit ratio. If I couldn't get past a trait I didn't like in order 2 experience enormous benefits of the relationship,I moved on.
Human beings are fundementally flawed.
All organizations have screwed up people:churches, corporations, military, schools. But we associate w/them 4 their benefits.Landmark's no exception.I'm sure @least someone is manipulative.
I agree with you about the organization. Some of the people that volunteer can come off as weird and creepy. I think those people just don't have a good personality or are aware of how to deal with people. They were lost to begin with, that's why they do LE.
I got what I wanted out of Landmark, and if they call me to do other stuff, I usually just ignore them. After a while, if you're genuinely not interested, they'll leave you alone.
do you mean to say you're better than the millions of people who have done the forum? they were lost? but you were the exception?
You know what inspires me about LE? That they have a large center in Israel where the jews sit themselves separate from the muslims at the beginning and wind up united by the second or third day of the forum. And in the end... there is what's possible. Peace perhaps.
1) don't worry you *will* be hounded to take more courses!
2) there is no *pressure* it's just what you'll do naturally if you follow through with them. It's called "Enrolling people in your life" - you share the new exciting life you're creating after the forum with people by sharing the Forum with them... making them sign up. Totally straightforward! :)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
3) Don't worry, the "Jargon" will come natural to you! Besides, the distinctions really do mean something else than regular words. Some of them are directly copied from Heidegger's "Being and time" btw... e.g. "authenticity" etc.
4) Well - their courses are all LGATs -speaks for itself. I would say the Forum is in so far brainwash as reality is replaced with someone talking constantly and the lines between "creating a new life for yourself" and "getting people to the sales event" 100%blurred
Forum is awesom. 1 thing I really dug when I went 2 a free intro seminar was that it dispelled my initial, automatic skepticism that it must be some religion. I think I got that skepticism from an experience w/scientology in my early 20s. In my opinion,THEY were culty. But, I saw that Landmark's not religion, nor psychology. What a relief, it's niether, So, I did the Forum. Life has taken off like a rocket ship. No wonder so many leaders in business, politics & communities praised it.
That is great to hear I too had a very positive experience too and it is amazing how many leaders of all kinds as you mention have done the work too. Thanks for the comment!
i took it a few years ago. helped heaps but is very very expensive. i want to do it again but unfortunately i don't have the money at the moment. i will do it in the future though if there was a scholarship.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Alright, I agree with that one.
The Forum does help getting over the stories we invented about the world which does help in getting over a lot of irrational fear.
That is one of the definite plusses of the whole thing.
There is this funny twist though where they make "pushing you over the edge to get people to enroll into the Forum" as an example of how you can "dismantle your upset" :P
I just finished the main education part of it. I feel my money was well spent. I have a new look on life but i do not have an urge to spend more money on them. It was well worth it
It's not really a cult. It has cult-like people in it. But they are the ones sort of looking for a cult type environment to "belong" to. The company provides counseling exercise that make people feel better about themselves. These are usually weak people to begin with. However, it costs money after a while. That's where the hook lies. It's like a psychotherapeutic pyramid scam. I have nothing this place. Everything is usually a scam, and I don't feel sorry for dumb people
What would it matter? And who says I don't like scary? Maybe I'm the evil darkness you fear when you turn off the lights at night that made you want to go to this "forum".
It would matter that you are commenting on something that you have not experienced yourself. It would be like saying I don'y like BMWs they cost too much only idiots and losers drive them, yet u have never driven one and don't know anyone that owns one.
Never said u didn't like scary, just my opinion that living a life thinking everything is a scam would be tiring
Nothing or no one made me go to the forum, & u wish u had that power over me. Darkness is good w/out it there could be no light!
So based off what I wrote here it sounds like I've never took the education? So tell me what it would it "sound like" if someone has taken the education. Further more I've never heard the word "taken" sound so ridiculously perverse. Thanks for that.
Yes I can move on now, wanted you to acknowledge that you have not taken the course and that its bad to judge something you have never done. Thats all!
You need to educate yourselves people BEFORE jumping into any life changing situation like LE. A good friend of mine got sucked into LE.
It sounded OK, but then I spent all of 5 minutes online to research it a little...
There's nothing wrong with helping people, but, when you're working for free in support of a cult that IS a corporation that makes $100+ Million/year in profit while its founder cools his heels in the Cayman Islands because he owes the IRS millions of dollars, I just don'know.
So you assume I didn't educate myself on LMF then, not good to assume. I looked at LMF for over 3 years on and off through many different people and my own research and bottom line most of the successful people I know have participated in this education and have excelled in their respective fields and personal lives.
Good for you for researching it for all of 5 minutes that shows some dedication
It is not about helping the company it is about how you can serve other participants you missed it
Please explain to me how it is a Cult, which should be interesting seeing that you spent all of 5 minutes looking into it. Or do you just call everything you don't like or agree with a cult?
Oh please you people and Rick Ross ....so many of you reference him and his website that I am starting to think he is leading the cult!
If LMF is a cult sweet, I always wanted to be in one! Yeah look ma no hands!
Look i went to LMF a year ago got some great things out of it . I may do more of their work I may not but there is nothing you can say that will change that one way or the other, so enjoy!
Enjoy spending your money. You may think you're getting something out of it but in reality you can experience all what Landmark is doing for free. Ii actually went to a Landmark Forum and you can easily see the fake brainwashed people there. All living in there little circle. I'm glad you got something out of it because I'm not hating but there's alot of people who didn't get anything out of Landmark. And there's some people who suffered from Landmark.
I find it funny that so many of those who post against LM focus on telling me to have fun spending my money.
I think this is a big reason many people have this anti LM view is they are so afraid of being sold something it makes them put up an instant defense.
Does LM sell yes they are a business for profit and have never have said otherwise. McDonalds up sells every time you order a burger are they a cult too?
People have suffered from the guilt of being Catholic is that make a cult too?
Yes because McDonald's and Catholicism makes you spend $400 to $800 for a totalitarian system breaking you down to rebuild you. Let's forget money. Landmark still uses you by breaking your mind down and influencing your train of thought. You might feel positive because you're around people who use this system but once you leave the people around Landmark you're back in the real world. Continue to feed into Landmarks bullshit. Do you know the guy who started Landmark used scientology as his base?
dips3t20 said "I actually went to a Landmark Forum and you can easily see the fake brainwashed people there. All living in there little circle."
dips3t20, it's people like you Landmarkians dislike the most - those who've taken the forum and criticize it. You see, they can't say to you what they love to say: "you've never taken the forum so you don't know what the f*** you're talking about.
@vegaslover777 just ignore these people man. The more you argue the more inferior they get and more bullshit comes out from them. If Landmark told them to jump off a cliff because it'd be good for you, they'd do it. Ignorance is bliss.
@dips3t20 "just ignore these people man. The more you argue the more inferior they get and more bullshit comes out from them. If Landmark told them to jump off a cliff because it'd be good for you, they'd do it. Ignorance is bliss"
i did 5 minutes of research on the internet and learned that Barak Obama is a muslim, not born in the US and a sociallist. I also learned that Glen Beck is a Nazi and Tommy Hilfiger used the N word on Oprah. Thank god for the internet to for keeping us so well informed. First hand experience is sooo over rated!!
You're comparing hysterical conspiracy theories to facts?
I KNOW 2 people who are members of LE. Both were very good friends of mine. One tried to get me to join & as soon as I said the "C" word, he ceased all communications. That was 3 years ago.
Is that normal behavior? Is it common for members of LE to behave that way? No, & yes, I'd say.
The founder of LE lives in the Cayman Islands having fled tax debts to the IRS. Is that normal behavior?
@VioletClub I am sorry about your friend pushing you away. I can't speak for him. If you and I were friends and you said that to me, I would laugh and then we would go for a beer. As for the people who hold those theories; for them they are neither hysterical or theory. They are for them facts. I am really not trying to pick a fight when I say this but: What is common to you and them is that you firmly believe what you heard is true without first hand experience. All the best to you. :)
I mention my one friend who shut me out because that in particular is common amongst devotees of cults and I've seen it before with other friends who joined other cults.

If you're interested in doing it - go in with an open mind, participate fully and make up your own mind from YOUR lived experience.
weheartpossibility 3 months ago
Hey Jason, It sounds like you definitely were speculating too much into how people perceive you because of your (lack of) education and dreads :) So funny how humans feel about what other people are thinking about them... That exercise when they had us close our eyes and realize that everyone was scared of the person next to them was life changing for me. Were all so caught up in our "machines".
EmelyneMusic 3 months ago
Companies like LE (and there are many of them) are just like the medicine men of the old west - buy this remedy and it will cure all your ills, everything from headaches to balding to poor eyesight. The difference is with the seminar companies (many having their roots in EST and Scientology) is that it is a progressive sell: free 1/2 day seminar, weekend seminar, full-week seminar, 1-year academy, 'life' coaching, books. I have seen people go bankrupt as a result - several people. Really.

Anyone who has "Popped" will tell you that they know that Landmark will continue to help them in their "New" life.
fjbchef 5 months ago
I did the landmark forum in May of 2011 in NYC. Nothing is terribly offensive about the forum until the 3rd day when they tell you that all you are is a "Meaning making machine" and that is because "Life is empty and meaningless, and it is empty and meaningless that it is empty and meaningless." Once you understand and internalize this, they say that you have "Popped" adn you are welcomed into your transformed life.
fjbchef 5 months ago
The catch is that Landmark, having previously broken down all of you ideas on life and your future, now has all of the answers for your new incredible life. The forum costs $500 ($550 in NYC). The second class (The one they tell you you need so that you can direct your life) cost 875 DOLLARS.

And I'm thankful I did :)

picuda1969, you actually do need a course.
Go to Landmark Edu.

I did the forum and my conclusion is this :
Landmark is a system which "mines" the vast population of which consists of many people searching for inner meaning or outer success , and who are receptive to coaching which opens them up to a certain manipulation of which Landmark provides - along with a structure and language !
Largely , I found the forum to be a place where a lot of people go to have a social life , along with the topic of the seminar - many go repeated times - like church !
rolynstone48 1 year ago
Rather than say "I don't really know anything about this but I'm open to see what it has to offer..."
The same thing happened with my school. I used to go to a Steiner school which many people don't know much about and most people would judge my school saying it was horrible and no one ever learned anything.
So, basically, my main message is this: If you don't know about something, don't judge, and DON'T make judgments due to what others have said. Use your OWN experiences :)
Have a nice day ^_^
purplemonkey51 1 year ago
To all the people judging Landmark, I just want to ask one thing: Have you actually even done the course?
If so, PLEASE do not judge.
One thing I've noticed is that when people don't really know much about something it's much easier for them to judge it in a negative way than in a positive way.
E.g. It's much easier to say "Oooh! I don't know anything about Landmark anf it's different, therefore it MUST be a horrible cult!"
purplemonkey51 1 year ago
@purplemonkey51 i think it has more to do with the fact that they are asking ridiculous amounts of money and want you to keep taking and paying for their "course" to improve yourself.. one need not pay someone money to find their true self and peace of mind.. life provides all the lessons necessary to be the best you, all one must do is pay attention! :)
oh2love4love 10 months ago
landmark is a total scam, in the forum they will immediately go on to hard-sell the next course, and they will tell you that the 2nd course is where the real results are. and in the 2nd course they will tell you the 3rd course is the most powerful. and then by the 3rd/4th course they will have you convinced that only by working for them for free, cold calling people to do the forum, will change happen in your life. such BS
kitten1g 1 year ago
@kitten1g, strictly speaking everything you say is correct, but what you miss out is that Landmark Education is truly effective and helps the vast majority or people who take it in a positive lasting way, 94% of people who do it have lasting positive changes. If paying some hundreds of dollars up for a life transforming experience is a scam then it is a scam, if learning to have self expression and being trained in how to live this while making a positive impact on the world is BS then sure...

@aether222 Nice share!! I took the Landmark Forum about 20 years ago. I use the tools to quickly move through life situations easier.
But you can say no to them.

Great to see you got the results Jason, but does the end justify the means of delivery?
For me, No.
I definitely feel that I was deliberately sleep deprived, humiliated, and brainwashed.
If that is what it takes to deliver their content, then I don't believe the company has my best interests at heart.
Also, I did not receive what I paid for.
I did not subscribe to a complete religious belief system explaining the origin of our species.
I subscribed to a self development course.
Cheers.
ArtyFart 1 year ago
Um the Forum has nothing to do with religion - nothing to do with origin of species - stop adding stuff that isn't there .
lynnenorthshore 1 year ago
@lynnenorthshore, Perhaps you have trouble remembering.
First there was Anything and Everything. From there several steps were taken by the Anything and Everything
to arrive at what we are today, which is a challenging enough state for the Anything and Everything to exist in.
Because the moment we became Human Beings (the species) We forgot....
Well you either do or Don't remember the rest.
Whether or not you remember is a point to consider if you attended the course on the weekend in Brisbane.
ArtyFart 1 year ago
@ArtyFart Looks like I became a Human and forgot if we use your model of what the Forum is and isn't - the WHOLE point of the exercises I think you are trying to get to is to demonstrate that it is a story and none of it is true but that we can choose our circumstances and perspectives - NOTHING whatsoever for /against/ or about religion
lynnenorthshore 1 year ago
@lynnenorthshore Well obviously I disagree, but that's ok.
It only takes one broken person, and there are a lot of broken people there
to accept the story offered, and come out of the end of the course accepting that
what they essentially are is Blank and Meaningless, creating the need for the next course.
It quacks like a duck to me.
ArtyFart 1 year ago
@lynnenorthshore A point in my first post is also being glossed over.
The company doesn't make you aware of what you are paying for.
There are some basic assumptions you just make when signing an agreement.
ArtyFart 1 year ago
@ArtyFart Hmmm posted and then must not have clicked post so apologies if somehow ends up with 2 x . I have met thousands of people that have done the forum - and I am yet to met one that thinks they are empty and meaningless from an exercise in the course which is on e of the most light hearted - also who is glossing over what? If you make assumptions when signing forms maybe you shouldn't - I know I don't - I ask questions and read thoroughly
lynnenorthshore 1 year ago
@lynnenorthshore Of course I made assumptions when agreeing to complete the course from the beginning.
If you were told on the first day that you would be shot in the head on the third day
I hope you'd see a lot of broken agreements.
Unfortunately in some Cults, this isn't the case.
Just because 1000,s of people agree on something doesn't make it true.
You will actually pat to receive brainwashing about that in a future LM course.
I am sure there is useful content in LMF, I only Q the means.

Like any adventure in life, I wanted to be surprised by the presentation I had heard so many great things about. I loved the experience of being in TLF & felt totally respected & honored and my beliefs were not encroached on in any way whatsoever, not for 1 moment . 1 more thing.
Concerning the deification of "Language" that takes place in L.E. I recommend Wittgenstein's take on it: Every word that doesn't correspond to something that can be physically touched and seen is inherently slippert - using these words is like skating on ice.

not really, it IS a little more.

Its really sad to see all the cynical posts on here. Why go to such lengths to invalidate someone else's experience or interest in moving forward in life.
come on...and get happy or do something that makes a difference for others vs tearing something down. Thats way too easy.

Who was Forum Leader, last name?

I don't recall, I think his first name was Will. Tall guy with Red hair from the UK

Must have been Will Steel then (there aren't so many Forum Leaders after all)

Pitching is part of "the game" they make you play.
transfixedtornado 1 year ago
This is just bullshit, meaningless, pop psychology. YOU have been brain washed too man, can't you hear yourself? Jesus,,
adonispupsy 2 years ago
you say i have been brain washed TOO, does that mean you have been as well....
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
Ya'll all know I'm not keen on Landmark. Actually I'd consider taking the forum if 1)I knew I wouldn't be hounded to take more courses; 2) have off-the-dial pressure put on me to recruit everyone in my life on Landmark's behalf 3) not have Landmark jargon forced down my throat, and 4) Landmark not use what seems to me to be brainwashing techniques.
I've reached the conclusion that what Landmark offers is useful, but it's the organization itself that operates in a sinister way. It's too bad.
vegaslover777 2 years ago
I wouldn't say sinister.I just saw when people get something so in-f***ing-credible in their lives, they get a little crazy some even pushy. & given that that hasn't changed really since the begining of this work, it's something unfortunately that would have to be tollerated.
Is tollerating that worth it?
4 me, it was.
But,maybe it wouldn't be 4 U & that's 100% valid.
I just trusted my friends.Yes,they were way enthusiastic, but what happened in their lives was undeniable & incredible.
FriscoDuck415 2 years ago
"I wouldn't say sinister.I just saw when people get something so in-f***ing-credible in their lives, they get a little crazy some even pushy"
You're talking about the participants but I'm talking about the organization. If sinister is too strong a word then I'd say manipulative at the very least.
vegaslover777 2 years ago
Sounds cool to me, man.
I'd promise it.
FriscoDuck415 2 years ago
I agree with you about the organization. Some of the people that volunteer can come off as weird and creepy. I think those people just don't have a good personality or are aware of how to deal with people. They were lost to begin with, that's why they do LE.
I got what I wanted out of Landmark, and if they call me to do other stuff, I usually just ignore them. After a while, if you're genuinely not interested, they'll leave you alone.
mikl0s 2 years ago
So you handled Landmark the right way: take the forum, ignore their hard sell and sinister ways, and get the hell out as soon as possible. Congrats.
vegaslover777 2 years ago
do you mean to say you're better than the millions of people who have done the forum? they were lost? but you were the exception?
You know what inspires me about LE? That they have a large center in Israel where the jews sit themselves separate from the muslims at the beginning and wind up united by the second or third day of the forum. And in the end... there is what's possible. Peace perhaps.

1) don't worry you *will* be hounded to take more courses!
2) there is no *pressure* it's just what you'll do naturally if you follow through with them. It's called "Enrolling people in your life" - you share the new exciting life you're creating after the forum with people by sharing the Forum with them... making them sign up. Totally straightforward! :)
transfixedtornado 1 year ago

FriscoDuck415 2 years ago
That is great to hear I too had a very positive experience too and it is amazing how many leaders of all kinds as you mention have done the work too. Thanks for the comment!

Bastards.

wait a couple of months until your new perspective and approach to life will feel kind of lonely...
it'll make you want to go back... (they rush through some of the content too, which makes people want to do some of the courses again)

Everything is usually a scam, and I don't feel sorry for dumb people
rataranian 2 years ago 5
That's unfortunate that you feel everything is a scam. That must be a scary thing.....Have you personally done the Forum?
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
What would it matter? And who says I don't like scary? Maybe I'm the evil darkness you fear when you turn off the lights at night that made you want to go to this "forum".
rataranian 2 years ago 2
It would matter that you are commenting on something that you have not experienced yourself. It would be like saying I don'y like BMWs they cost too much only idiots and losers drive them, yet u have never driven one and don't know anyone that owns one.
Never said u didn't like scary, just my opinion that living a life thinking everything is a scam would be tiring
Nothing or no one made me go to the forum, & u wish u had that power over me. Darkness is good w/out it there could be no light!
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
Sounds like you never took the education.
htheprince 2 years ago
So based off what I wrote here it sounds like I've never took the education? So tell me what it would it "sound like" if someone has taken the education. Further more I've never heard the word "taken" sound so ridiculously perverse. Thanks for that.
rataranian 2 years ago
right sounds like you have never taken the course.
htheprince 2 years ago
Yes, you've already stated that above. Anything else you'd like to add to it or can you move on now?
rataranian 2 years ago
Yes I can move on now, wanted you to acknowledge that you have not taken the course and that its bad to judge something you have never done. Thats all!

It' common knowledge what, what is?
Thanks for trying what?
I pride myself on being a servant leader and helping out people when ever I can. I have always done this long before LMF.
What do you have against helping people out?
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
You need to educate yourselves people BEFORE jumping into any life changing situation like LE. A good friend of mine got sucked into LE.
It sounded OK, but then I spent all of 5 minutes online to research it a little...
There's nothing wrong with helping people, but, when you're working for free in support of a cult that IS a corporation that makes $100+ Million/year in profit while its founder cools his heels in the Cayman Islands because he owes the IRS millions of dollars, I just don'know.
VioletClub 2 years ago
So you assume I didn't educate myself on LMF then, not good to assume. I looked at LMF for over 3 years on and off through many different people and my own research and bottom line most of the successful people I know have participated in this education and have excelled in their respective fields and personal lives.
Good for you for researching it for all of 5 minutes that shows some dedication
It is not about helping the company it is about how you can serve other participants you missed it
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
Yeah, I assume you didn't check it... unless you really were OK with joining a cult...
VioletClub 2 years ago 3
Please explain to me how it is a Cult, which should be interesting seeing that you spent all of 5 minutes looking into it. Or do you just call everything you don't like or agree with a cult?
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
Search:
landmark education cult
Pay special attention to the rick ross website.
VioletClub 2 years ago 2
Oh please you people and Rick Ross ....so many of you reference him and his website that I am starting to think he is leading the cult!
If LMF is a cult sweet, I always wanted to be in one! Yeah look ma no hands!
Look i went to LMF a year ago got some great things out of it . I may do more of their work I may not but there is nothing you can say that will change that one way or the other, so enjoy!
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
Enjoy spending your money. You may think you're getting something out of it but in reality you can experience all what Landmark is doing for free. Ii actually went to a Landmark Forum and you can easily see the fake brainwashed people there. All living in there little circle. I'm glad you got something out of it because I'm not hating but there's alot of people who didn't get anything out of Landmark. And there's some people who suffered from Landmark.
dips3t20 2 years ago
I find it funny that so many of those who post against LM focus on telling me to have fun spending my money.
I think this is a big reason many people have this anti LM view is they are so afraid of being sold something it makes them put up an instant defense.
Does LM sell yes they are a business for profit and have never have said otherwise. McDonalds up sells every time you order a burger are they a cult too?
People have suffered from the guilt of being Catholic is that make a cult too?
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
Yes because McDonald's and Catholicism makes you spend $400 to $800 for a totalitarian system breaking you down to rebuild you. Let's forget money. Landmark still uses you by breaking your mind down and influencing your train of thought. You might feel positive because you're around people who use this system but once you leave the people around Landmark you're back in the real world. Continue to feed into Landmarks bullshit. Do you know the guy who started Landmark used scientology as his base?
dips3t20 2 years ago 2
What is this make you spend stuff. No one made me spend anything other than myself.
Anyway you have your opinion I have mine I doubt either one of us will change their view.
I made the video a year ago and haven't been back since and what do you care anyway.
It amazes me that most of the anti LM peeps spend so much time & energy trying to be right....
I still feel great from my LMF and have better time in the real world than ever before....enjoy!
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
"It amazes me that most of the anti LM peeps spend so much time & energy trying to be right...."
I guess you don't realize you're doing the exact same thing. In reading your posts it sure sounds like you have to be right about Landmark.
Landmark's supposed to help you realize "who you are being". Looks like they've failed you in that respect.
vegaslover777 2 years ago
I didn't start this crazy debate, I just put up a video for fun. And it went all wacky.
Looking over some of my posts you are so RIGHT!
There now LMF didn't fail me!
jasonliptak619 2 years ago
Totalitarian system, breaking people down to build them up?
That sounds like when I went to BootCamp and when I did the Forum, absolutely none of that ever happened. Who was your Forum leader, dips3t20?
They've a real interest in that not occurring in their course work. Sorry that happened, bro.
FriscoDuck415 2 years ago
dips3t20 said "I actually went to a Landmark Forum and you can easily see the fake brainwashed people there. All living in there little circle."
dips3t20, it's people like you Landmarkians dislike the most - those who've taken the forum and criticize it. You see, they can't say to you what they love to say: "you've never taken the forum so you don't know what the f*** you're talking about.
vegaslover777 2 years ago 3
@vegaslover777 just ignore these people man. The more you argue the more inferior they get and more bullshit comes out from them. If Landmark told them to jump off a cliff because it'd be good for you, they'd do it. Ignorance is bliss.

Landmark Education IS a cult. Period.
.
VioletClub 1 year ago 12
@VioletClub I am sorry about your friend pushing you away. I can't speak for him. If you and I were friends and you said that to me, I would laugh and then we would go for a beer. As for the people who hold those theories; for them they are neither hysterical or theory. They are for them facts. I am really not trying to pick a fight when I say this but: What is common to you and them is that you firmly believe what you heard is true without first hand experience. All the best to you. :)

I mention my one friend who shut me out because that in particular is common amongst devotees of cults and I've seen it before with other friends who joined other cults.
