I personally do not believe in protests. Have you ever driven by a protest and changed your political view? I do want to commend these people for donating their time to engage in the right to express their concerns but there are more effective ways to educate people and sway public opinion than this ranting and chanting. These demonstrations seem as primitive as the violence "peaceful" protesters are so adamantly against. Protesting falls short of both violent revolution and peaceful means.

I believe that this "riot"you see here really isn't, and is more people trying to get away from overly aggressive and chemical happy police. The few windows that were broken were either people that got too worked up or undercovers posing as protesters. The police were definitely the violet ones at the RNC. I personally do not believe in protests. Have you ever driven by a protest and changed your political view? I do want to commend these people for donating their time to engage in the right to express their concerns but there are more effective ways to educate people and sway public opinion than this ranting and chanting. These demonstrations seem as primitive as the violence "peaceful" protesters are so adamantly against. Protesting falls short of both violent revolution and peaceful means.

I just think people need to "tribe up" if you are really that committed to living an alternative lifestyle. Think about 50 people and how much "stuff" you have (computers, cars, ect). I did not make a personal attack, I made an attack on an ideology. Even if it was a personal attack, however, this still wouldn't make me a conservative. I just stated a personal attack is what conservatives do best, not that making a personal attack makes one a conservative. I choose, however, to critique ideologies, not individuals. I'm sorry if this is confusing.

I'm not wealthy; therefore, I am "very very stupid", which is name calling, which is a personal attack. I know it doesn't make you a conservative. That was kind of a play on your words. To play on them again...wouldn't that stereotype be anti what you preach? Conservatives attacking, or the Chinese liking rice is a blanket statement; therefore, a stereotype. What's confusing is how I hear you repeating what is spewed through biased media...TV media...ALL TV media.

On a bit of a different note...We all need to worry more about our relationship with God, our families, ourselves, and those who cannot help themselves. We don't need that care through entitlements or goverment intervention, and if that type of conservatism scares you, then so be it. I have only been trying to prove a point through this conversation. Through me obviously proving my point, I have also learned some things. I thank you for that. May God bless you and your family.

Ah, I knew God would come into this eventually! See, now it seems you may be a well-meaning conservative who has been duped into believing God supports conservative values. What you call "entitlement", I call the Bill of Rights. What you call "government intervention", I call helping the poor and needy. Conservatism is really all about protecting the wealthy at the expense of people like you and I. I am not entitled to anything but my human rights, which have been threatened by conservatism.

How misunderstood are you? I said nothing about God supporting conservative values. Does He? I don't know. Enough with spewing TV media's points (or lack thereof). All I know is that I do what I can for all of what was mentioned in my previous post, and don't expect government to do what I can do on my own. What I call entitlement is not the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights is well explained, and you should probably look into it, as well as look into yourself a little deeper as well.

Protesting used to mean something, and it used to be used to accomplish things that no other form of expression could. This is just sad. Bunch of kids raid the RNC, for what? To stop the free speech of a political party? This is people who are working every day in their communities to win small concessions for education, health, and the environment. But working inside the system isn't going to kill the roots of the problems inherent in capitalist empire. Direct action, on the other hand, hits 'em where it hurts.

You play right into the hands of the state when you blame the resistance for the things they're resisting. Do you blame the Tibetan resistance for China's police state? Do you blame the American rebels for the Boston Massacre? Be thankful people are out there taking direct action against this government. The people doing this sort of protesting at the RNC are not Democrats. They are the same sort of people that protested at the DNC. They are unhappy with the system of power in this country, no matter what party name is behind it.

They majority of the people you see here are "left" (socialists, communists, feminists, progessives, anarchists)and the "left" is the democratic fringe. They vote democrat. So it is safe to consider them democrats. They are what the democratic base hates, because they make democrats look real bad.

i think you missed something in your analysis. anarchists oppose voting and political parties, so they're obviously not dems. some anarchists don't consider themselves part of the left, either. and most socialists and communists are critical of the two corporate parties, so they're not democrats. some progressives are democrats.

I have stepped back and see things in a broader way than the typical myopic American view of the political spectrum. I believe that, thanks to massive corporate influence, both major parties are on the right wing of the spectrum.
Black Bloc demonstrators are totally off of it. As a whole, they aren't left or right.

This was just a little splinter group that got out of hand, throwing signs threw windows, baracading(sp?) roads, trashing squad cars, even got into a brawl with a cop. I was photographing it. The actual march was more like 15,000, and went down, for the most part, peacefully .
